Getting THERE BARELANG CLASSIC – GRAN FONDO RIDERS

Harbourfront Ferry Terminal

• The ferry departs from HARBOURFRONT FERRY TERMINAL @ 7:20am On Sunday • There is ample parking upstairs (expect to pay $20 for the day’s parking) • Event check-in is near Lobby C on the Ground Floor • Check-in is at 5.15am to 6.30am. Counter closes 6.30am sharp. We will not wait for you.

• Sign-In and collect your Race Kit at the ferry terminal o Fit your seat post sticker (contains the timing strip) o Place the bib on the back of your shirt / cycling jersey o Place the passport sticker on the front of your passport o Place the bag tag on your day bag

• Proceed through customs and immigration to wait for your ferry departure • The trip to Batam Centre is around 1 hour arriving 7:30am (Indonesian time) • DO NOT FORGET YOUR PASSPORT

BIKE PREPARATION

• For the Gran Fondo all types of bikes are allowed, however, they must be roadworthy and have two

working brakes.

• Please take off all accessories such as computers and saddle-bags that may get lost in transit

• Each bike is loaded with Cycosports blankets between them. You may also want to protect your

bike with a frame protection kit.

• While we take all care we can’t be responsible for any damage incurred during the event day.

• Bike cameras can be mounted to the bike but are not allowed on helmets

• You MUST bring a HELMET and WEAR IT

ARRIVAL AT BATAM CENTRE

• On arrival, you will be given a bike (it will not be your bike) when leaving the ferry • YOU MUST TAKE A BIKE – DO NOT SIMPLY WALK OFF WITHOUT A BIKE • Head to immigration showing your passport and depositing it as requested • Proceed with the bike through immigration and head across the

street to the open Plaza • Place the bike on rack corresponding to the seat number • Prepare your personal bag for deposit (use the bag tag) • Prepare yourself and your bike. Mechanics, pumps and cable ties

are on standby • Please remember to bring sunscreen and carry some with you • Find a shady spot, relax and wait for 10 minute bell & countdown

INDONESIAN RIDERS

• If you are an Indonesian rider or have come over the night before, you can collect your race kit on the morning of the event at the Plaza (from 7:30am onwards)

FERRY TERMINAL PROCEDURE

Stage Details SUNDAY 30 SEPT

START @ 8:30am

• We aim to start everyone together as this is a fun ride

• If you are looking for a fast time, we suggest you line up early

• The first 15km of the Gran Fondo are neutralized at 25km per hour

• Do not go in front of the Police Car during the neutralized section

• The course is a simple “out and back” • The finish line is on the apex of the

Barelang Bridge. • There are water stops at:

o 45km (Sembulang corner) o 80km (Just After U Turn) o 110km (Sembulang corner)

• After the finish please proceed to the bottom of the bridge and turn left into Barelang Seafood

• Proceed to “make ready” your bike for the 4:20pm ferry back to Singapore

• Ensure your bike is placed in the correct ferry racks –4:20pm

• If you are not taking a Cycosports ferry, please place your bike in the “No Ferry” racks

BARELANG SEAFOOD

• Your bags will be waiting for you inside the restaurant • There is basic shower facilities (you may want to consider wet wipes and strong deorderant) • Lunch will be provided from 11am onwards • The finisher medal and t-shirt will be distributed as you come in for lunch

SEKUPANG TO SINGAPORE

• You can collect your passport (signing for it) at lunch • Please board the buses when announced. • Upon return to Singapore (Harbourfront), remain on the ferry until your bib number is called • Please take YOUR OWN BIKE this time • Note – Cycosports staff are minimal so help from the rider community would be appreciated • Pass your bike to Singapore Porters and proceed through Customs collecting your bike outside • Note: Remove your bidons and bags from your bike (Singapore Customs will confiscate)

RIDER SUPPORT WATER SUPPORT - START WITH 2 FULL BOTTLES

• For the GF there will not be water support bikes - there are 2 drink stations on the course o 45km (Sembulang corner) o 80km (Just After U Turn) o 110km (Sembulang corner)

• Please dismount from your bike and fill your bottles (It is not a race) • There are also village shops along the way but you will need local currency

MECHANICAL SUPPORT

• Please make sure you bike is in good working order before you embark on this event • A mechanic will be on hand prior to the starts for last minutes fixes and tuning

• We strongly suggest bringing your own spare tubes, tire levers and pump

STAYING SAFE

While we can be there in an emergency, we need you to reduce the chances by:

o Ensuring you are hydrated and keep hydrated throughout the ride o Coat up in sunscreen, the road is exposed o Stop and seek assistance if you are suffering any heat effects or chest pains o Keep aware of the road around you, look ahead and call out to pre-empt any dangers o Think of your fellow riders, team and other cyclists around you o In case of an emergency please use the phone number on the bib

MEDICAL SUPPORT

• Local medics / ambulances will be on the course at key locations • The Cycosports team has medical procedures in place based on severity of accident

RIDE CUT OFF

• Due to time constraints we will need to “cut off” the ride at a reasonable time • A sweeper truck will follow the last riders. If the sweeper team encourage you to “jump in”, they are

politely telling you it’s time to head to the finish. • Remember you may be holding up everyone else and may miss your ferry

EVENT RULES By registering for the Tour de Kepri and/or the Barelang Classic each rider has agreed to the rules and

regulations of the event as well as the registration indemnity.

KEY POINTS

• All riders must wear a safety approved helmet at all times

• Please always keep left – riders who persist on crossing the centre line will be penalised

• All roads are open and subject to normal road rules

• Please obey the police and marshals as directed

• Be aware of Cycosports signage and obey the signs

• Wear your bib number on your back and ensure your bike sticker is not obstructed

DISCLAIMER

• By registering each rider has agreed to the Cycosports Indemnity Terms & Conditions

• Each rider must sign in each day to ensure we know you are participating

• Each rider is solely responsible for their own travel / race insurance coverage

RESPECTING INDONESIA & NATURE

• Please only drop your empty bottles at the water stops

• Please hold onto all gel wrappers & rubbish

• Urinating in public is a criminal offence

WEATHER

• If you are caught in heavy thunder/lightening, seek shelter in a car or under a solid building. Try not

to shelter under individual trees or under small iron structures

• In the event of heavy rain or haze, Cycosports may have to shorten or even cancel races. As such

events are outside of our control and safety being paramount, no refunds can be provided
