the hot italian tenant iMproveMent proJect tranSforMS thiS environMentally friendly italian reStaurant into an eleGant Sit-doWn reStau-rant at the heart of the SacraMento’S doWntoWn diStrict. keepinG true to the hot italian’S Goal of beinG l.e.e.d. Silver or above, MoSt of the Materi-alS uSed in thiS proJect are l.e.e.d. certified or are environMentally SuStainable. cuStoM partitionS, created froM antiQue MirrorS and repurpoSed Wine barrel rinGS becoMe another eleMent of environMental aWareneSS. a Water feature, diSplayinG the hot italian’S neW loGo becoMeS the focal point of the Main dininG Space. thiS WaS My firSt Group proJect, and i WaS very excited to Work alonGSide With My peerS. We Worked toGether to create a Space that repre-Sented traditional italian deSiGn in neW conteMporary WayS. in addition to the neW Group dynaMic, We alSo Worked alonGSide conStruction ManaGe-Ment MaJorS, Who Worked out the loGiSticS, budGet paraMeterS and reality of our deSiGn.

rendered uSinG Sketchup and podiuM v2 deSiGned With the intention of expanSion With the introduction of bulletS trainS, the SacraMento valley Station payS hoMaGe to itS paSt While lookinG boldly into the future. the neWly renovated SacraMento valley Station offerS people of the SacraMento reGion the ability to travel With eaSe. With thiS in Mind, the SacraMento valley Station WaS deSiGned to help link the SacraMento reGion to the Greater northern california reGion. uSinG an induStrial Modern Style, the Station Will hope to link the paSt to the future by uSinG ruStic old World MaterialS found Within the exiStinG Space With Modern architectural StructureS and Style to create a balance and or JuxtapoSition Within the Space. eleMentS inSpired by the train itSelf, Were uSed throuGhout the Space to connect the Station to itS initial function, but aS it expandS to encoMpaSS More functionS the Space becoMeS eQually More diverSe. interlockinG circleS and rectanGleS create dynaMic SpaceS that Weave toGether and provide for Multiple functionS. a Giant Sky-liGht that tranScendS Space to Meet With the lobby floor to becoMe an indoor Garden, help to viSually tie the Station to the “city of treeS”. thiS proJect WaS My final theSiS proJect aS an underGraduate Student and holdS a lot of SentiMental feelinGS for Me. for thiS proJect i Wanted to Step aWay froM My coMfort zone of linear deSiGn and create a curvilinear deSiGn. i believe that SteppinG out of My coMfort zone and explor-inG neW WayS to Space plan really helped Me learn about MySelf aS a deSiGner.

havinG Worked for Several coMpanieS, i have been able to Gain a fair aMount of inSiGht about the World of deSiGn and architecture. i have Worked for dreyfuSS and blackford, Where i Worked cloSely With chad Garcia, their in houSe biM ManaGer. With hiM i learned hoW to create neW Wall hatcheS in revit, aS Well aS hoW to create better coMponentS and faMilieS. Soon after i Worked at pacific deSiGn Group, a SMall houSe renova-tion firM. there i learned hoW to StaGe a ShoWrooM and hoW to interact With clientS. i then beGan WorkinG for My univerSity under facilitieS in planninG and deSiGn, i Worked for My univerSity for alMoSt a year before GoinG on My Study abroad to Japan. at SacraMento State, i Worked a Whole hoSt of proJectS, froM road re-paveMent and re-StripinG to reStrooM renova-tionS, floor plan updateS for all the buildinGS on caMpuS, etc. i feel very fortunate about havinG WorkinG With My caMpuS becauSe i WaS able to See a feW of the proJectS i Worked on coMe into fruition. My internShipS and JobS have helped Me develop different partS of My abilitieS that i had not been able to durinG My tiMe aS a Student. i aM very Grateful for havinG had the chance to Work in So Many different environMentS and on So Many different proJectS.

SacraMento State’S SuStainable technoloGy optiMization reSearch center or S.t.o.r.c., iS a reSearch facility for a variety of proJectS includinG aQuaponicS, verMiculture and biodieSel. With all the added attention to the Storc haS been receivinG a lot of Sti-pendS to expand. takinG advantaGe of thiS influx the Storc decided to expand a feW of their proJectS, eSpecially the aQuaponicS. i WaS aSSiGned to expand their exiStinG fence, aS Well aS lo-cate their neW biGGer Green houSe and relocate their exiStinG Green houSe to a neW location. i WaS alSo inStructed to create a neW road Way.

located at the front of the caMpuS, the flaG pole SitS next to the buS StopS and iS conStantly over-looked. thiS proJect iS Meant to tranSforM flaGpole into an attractive and recoGnizable MeetinG place for StudentS aS Well aS a More appropriate hoMe for the flaG. i WaS aSSiGned to thiS proJect after another co-Worker Graduate, leavinG thiS proJect half done. i finiShed coMpleteinG the autocad fileS before turninG My attention to the renderinGS. due to tiMe reStrictionS i didn’t have chance to create hyper-realiStic ren-derinGS; hoWever i aM pleaSed With hoW they turned out .
