The assignment given for this course was to design a luminaire based on the study of the human scale, the scale of the UCF Sanford Historic Centre, the analysis of a historic event that had taken place in San- .ford,FL in the last 100 years, and the interconnection between all 3 studies/analysis My design is a criticism of the lack of comment on the ongoing social fragmentation of Sanford, FL, in theUCF historic centre, reflected on a spatial study of breakdown of whole (human scale and built environ- ment) modularity, and subtractions patterns. The size of the different faces is based on the relations of scale of my body height and difference in lengths between arm-to- hand, arm-to-forearm, and such. The subtractions patterns on the plates (faces) are obtain from a spatial study of the UCF historic centre, where I broke down the spaces into modular elements based on circulation patterns, ceiling heights, openings, furniture. The overall theme of fragmentation is seen used all throughout the design and con-openings, furniture. The overall theme of fragmentation is seen used all throughout the design and con-

struction of the lamp, and highlighted where the gaps between the faces, and the subtraction patterns letthe apparent problems (light) out
