Investing in the futureThe NCE Graduate Awards 2011 are designed to recognise and reward the most promising all round civil engineers who graduated during 2010 and are now 'enjoying' their first post graduate jobs, putting into practice what they learned at university.

● The awards are open to anyone who graduated from an ICE accredited civil, structural – or related – engineering first degree course, or MSc postgraduate course, during 2010. The MSc must have followed on directly after the first degree without a gap between the two courses. A graduate currently pursuing any other relevant post graduate degree is also eligible so long as the first, or MSc degree, was completed in 2010.

● Entries should be submitted by the graduate and no company approval is needed.

● Entries should be completed on line by visiting www.nce.co.uk/graduateawards.

● Applicants will be requested to highlight their academic, work and social achievements. They will also be asked to complete two short essay questions on topical subjects.

● Entrants will be marked on all round ability; not only academic and work related achievements but also their enthusiasm for civil engineering.

● Entries will be judged by a panel of senior engineers drawn from the awards' Sponsors. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by Monday 31st October 2011 and asked to make a short presentation at a meeting with the judges at the Institution of Civil Engineers, London on Friday 11th November 2011. Entrants not approached by Monday 31st October, have regrettably not been shortlisted.

● All shortlisted candidates will be invited to the awards' presentation lunch on Friday, 2nd December 2011, held at the Institution of Civil Engineers, London.Travel expenses to both events will be reimbursed by NCE.

● All shortlisted candidates will receive a certificate. The winner will receive a specially commissioned trophy and £1250. Two runners' up will each receive £600 and three highly commended candidates £300.

● The judges' decisions will be regarded as final and no correspondence, other than required by this entry, should be sent to any judge.

● For further details, difficulties or enquiries about the awards scheme, please contact: David Hayward Awards Secretary Tel: 01325 461149 E-mail: [email protected]
