Erika is the daughter of Philip and Patricia Chamberland. Throughout her high school career she participated in varsity basketball and rode her horse avidly in horse shows across the nation. She took many AP classes and is graduating as co-class valedictorian. This fall she plans to attend the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts in Manhattan.

Melissa is the daughter of Ken and Kathy Ashwood. During high school she was a member of Science Olympiad, Marching Band and played varsity on the gymnastics and diving teams. This fall she plans to attend Colorado School of Mines where she will continue diving and may decide to major in Biochemical Engineering.

Celeste Holden

Celeste, the daughter of Paul and Enid, suffers from debilitating delusions which make her believe that she is a Chinese panda. When she is not sleeping or chewing bamboo, she has successfully participated in NHS, Dance Team and Book Club, while working at the local vet clinic to help other sick and confused animals. She plans to major in Biology at CU Boulder, while working as a display animal at Denver Zoo during weekends.

Mackenzie Morgan

Mackenzie, the youngest daughter of Paul and Randy Morgan and sister of Dana and Carlee, has demonstrated that the third time is indeed, the charm. Mackenzie has been actively involved in Student Leadership Council, National Honor Society, Youth City Council, varsity swimming, varsity track, hockey and GCSAPP, spending the rest of her time teaching swimming lessons and lifeguarding. Mackenzie plans to attend Western Washington University to pursue a career in education or health, hopefully joining the Peace Corps thereafter.

Hannah Anderson

Hannah is the daughter of Mike and Sheila Anderson and the sister of Rachel, David, Ian and Gabe. During high school she was a mem-ber of FFA, and 4-H. Her senior year she served as

the Gunnison FFA president and the 4-H council secretary. She participated in track and volleyball for two years and basketball for three years. This fall she plans to go to UNC, where she will major in teaching agriculture.

Shawnda Arnett

Shawnda is the daughter of Jeff and Michelle Arnett. During high school she was a member of the GHS Dance Team, where she served as captain this year and was also given the Sugar Plum Fairy Solo. She has been on

the honor roll every quarter this year and recently received a teacher’s award. She has come a long way through her high school years. Shawnda plans on attending Western State College to pursue a business degree. Even though high school was rough for her, she realized that graduating needed to be her first priority.

Kyrsten is the daughter of Rod and Jodene Black. Dur-ing high school she was a member of the FFA and 4-H. She participated in many extracurricular activities at high school and played varsity volleyball and bas-

ketball. This fall she is going to attend Northeastern Junior College, where she plans to study Animal Science.

Sarah Brown

Sarah is the daughter of Teresa Brown and Andrew Ortiz. During high school she was a member of Stu-dent Leadership Council, Book Club and Hockey Club. She participated in softball and played varsity

for three years. This fall she is going to attend Colorado State University, where she plans to study Psychology and Spanish. Later, she plans to transfer to a university in Canada.

Tyler Brown

Tyler is the son of Lisa and Christopher Brown and brother of Dylan. During high school, his interests and hobbies included moun-tain bike riding, skiing, working on cars and hang-ing out with his friends.

After spending the summer working in Gunnison, Tyler looks forward to attending Universal Technical Institute in Phoenix, Ariz.

Quincy Burggraf

Quincy is the daughter of Tom and Cherie Burggraf and sister to Tommy. During her years at Gunnison High School she was a member of the volleyball, track and bas-ketball teams and has been a SLC member since her

freshman year. Quincy is co-president of her senior class. This fall she will be attending Azusa Pacific University in California.

Rachelle Cable

Rachelle is the daughter of Troy and Vickie Cable. During high school she participated in softball and was a varsity starter all four years. This fall she is going to attend college and plans to study pre-med to become

an orthopedic surgeon. She is deciding between the Univer-sity of Colorado Denver and Finlandia University in Michi-gan. She is very excited to start the new chapter in her life!

Molly Cannon

Molly is the daughter of Steve and Maggie Guerrieri and Larry Cannon. During high school she was in-volved in 4H, FFA and Link Crew. She played for the U-19 Gunnison Blades and varsity softball. This fall she

is going to attend either Colorado State University in Fort Collins or Plymouth State University in New Hampshire. She plans on majoring in Agriculture Science or Sports Physiology.

Nicholas Cashman

Nick is the son of Tim and Lois Cashman. Dur-ing high school he was a member of Band, Science Olympiad and Boy Scouts, where he became an Eagle Scout. He also participated

in cross country and track throughout high school. This fall Nick will attend Colorado State University, where he plans on studying in the Bio-Medical Sciences. Nick would like to thank everybody who has helped him thus far.

Asucena Castro

Asucena is the daughter of Maria and Manuel Castro. During high school she was a member of Interact and Link Crew. She is going to Mexico for the summer and then returning to the U.S. for work, then school. She

hopes to one day become a veterinarian or a mechanic.

Nick is the son of Brad and Cheryl Coffey. During high school he played var-sity baseball and football. He almost participated in choir. This fall he plans on attend-ing Red Rocks Community College where he will study

Fire Science and go into a fire fighting career. If that doesn’t work out, he plans on marrying a rich woman and living in a big house.

John Cortner

John is the son of Kathleen Cortner and David Schwartz. During high school he participated in Book Club, FEA, Link Crew, and starred as Charlie in the spring production of “Marvin’s Room.” He

has played both varsity football and basketball. This fall he will attend Northfield Mount Hermon prep school in Massachusetts, where his father lives. Next year he will decide which East Coast college will fit him best.

Elizabeth Cotten

Elizabeth is the daughter of Brian Cotten and Sebrina Horton and the granddaugh-ter of Roger and Kay Cotten. During high school she was a member of marching band, concert band, dance team and Link Crew. She played

in varsity gymnastics and cross-country track. This fall she will attend Western State College, where she will study Biol-ogy. After four years at Western, Elizabeth plans to attend Colorado State University, where she plans to pursue her career as a veterinarian.

John is the son of Phil and Nancy Duetsch. During high school he participated in varsity track and football. Next fall John will attend the University of Colorado in Boulder — possibly run-ning track there, but proba-

Hannah is the daughter of Andrew Eflin and Elizabeth Linser. She was editor-in-chief of the GHS yearbook for two years, on the staff for three years and was also active in several GHS drama productions. In the fall Han-

nah will attend either Colorado State University at Fort Col-lins or Western Washington University at Bellingham. She will study political science and hopes to attend law school after she completes her undergraduate degree.

the fall she is going to attend Front Range Community Col-lege in Fort Collins, where she plans to study dental assist-ing.

Jordan is the daughter of Michael and Danielle Grosse. During high school she was a member of National Honor Society, and participated in varsity volleyball, swimming,

and diving. This fall she will attend Concordia University Texas in Austin, where she received the Lutheran Servant Leadership Scholarship, which is a four year, full ride scholarship. She plans on majoring in nursing and being very involved with missions to Africa. She is also a committed member of their volleyball team.

going to school next year and also undecided about what he wants to study.

Tara Hamilton

Tara is the daughter of Steve Hamilton and Tammy Warrick. During high school she was active on the swim and softball teams. She also was involved with FFA and 4-H outside of high school. This fall she will attend the

University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. Tara plans on getting her teacher’s degree for elementary students and returning to Gunnison to teach at the very school she at-tended.

Caleb Harman

Caleb Harman is the son of Scott and Debbie Har-man. In high school he was a varsity football player and wrestler. He also partici-pated in track his freshman year. He enjoyed participat-ing in Mr. Malloy’s outdoor

education class and went on the backpacking, caving, and Baja California trips. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and boating. Next fall he is attending CU Boulder and will be in the Navy ROTC program as he is deciding his major.

Shay is the son of Dale and Theressa Hoots. During high school he participated in football — receiving honorable mention all-conference — and baseball all four years. This fall he is going to attend college at

Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colo., where he plans to study for physical therapy. He received a sports scholarship to play Rattlers Baseball at Otero.

Trevor is the son of Dave and Lisa Jacobson. Dur-ing high school he played football for four years and wrestled for three, with two years of varsity in each. He participated in Student Leadership Council for one

year and maintained a 3.6 GPA. In the fall, he will attend Chadron State College, where he plans to study psychology, although he is uncertain about it.

Arly is the daughter of Steve and Julie Landry and sister to Pete Landry. Throughout high school she participated in GCSAPP and Partners at the elementary school. She also played golf and ran cross country. Arly

is moving to Salt Lake City, Utah, where she will attend Westminster College and, hopefully, do a lot of world class skiing at Alta and Snowbird.

Tyler Lee

Tyler is the son of Paula Swenson and Mike Lee, both of Gunnison. Although he participated in football for a couple of years, Tyler’s passion for skiing and out-door recreation activities consumed most of his high

school years. He enjoyed many outings with Leo Malloy’s outdoor recreation classes from kayaking in Baja, Mexico, to backcountry skiing here in Gunnison County. He will be attending Fort Lewis College in Durango this fall … study-ing?

Brittney is the daughter of Darren Bishop and Brenda Long-Bishop. During high school she was a member of yearbook and choir, and was also active in church and community events. She

participated in track, basketball, hockey and volleyball. She was a member of the Black Canyon Volleyball Club of Mon-trose. This fall she is going to attend Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colo., playing volleyball for The Rattlers under an athletic scholarship. Her plans are to pursue education in criminal investigation/forensic science/sociology. She plans to transfer to a four-year university to further her education.

Trenton MacAllister

Trent is the son of Jim and Allison MacAllister. Dur-ing high school he played hockey, football, track and cross country. He lettered once in football and cross country and three years in

track. He was captain of the Blades for two years. Trent is going to California Polytechnic State University and plans on studying biochemistry.

Lesly Ocampo is the daughter of Cesar R. Becerra and Josefina Ornelas and sister of Richard and Levy. During her high school career she was a member of Interact Club, Skills USA, and Lulac. She participated

in band for her four years and also enjoyed being a wres-tling manager during her senior year. This fall she will be working. Although she is not attending college in the fall, her plans include attending the University Autonoma of Guadalajara (UAG) in Mexico in the near future, where she hopes to earn a degree in Architecture.

Ashley is the daughter of Terry Peterson and Leslie LeFevre. During high school she was a member of Link Crew, the president of the National Honor Society, a peer tutor, a choir member and ran on the cross country

team. During her junior year she was a Girls State Delegate and a U.S. Page. This fall she will attend Baylor University, where she plans to study Business and Political Science.

Meaghan Pike

Meaghan is the daughter of Paul and Lisa Pike. Dur-ing high school she was a member of the Student Leadership Council, audi-tion choir and hockey club. She ran varsity cross coun-try and varsity track all four

years. She was also a three-year Captain on the Gunnison Blades Hockey team and was a state champion in 2008. Meaghan has been extremely active in church youth groups and 4-H growing up and was awarded senior outstand-ing 4-H member of the year in 2009. She will be attending Colorado State University in Fort Collins next fall.

Caitlin Rolfes-Haase

Caiti is the daughter of Greg Haase and Peggy Rolfes and the sister of Kelly Rolfes-Haase. She enjoys warm weather, summers longer than two months, and not having to chip

Josh is the son of Albert and Angela Roper. He played football and wrestled all four years of high school and was a three-time state placer in wrestling. He was also a member of FFA and the out-door recreation program. In

the fall he is planning on attending either Colorado School of Mines or University of Wyoming and will major in engi-neering. Josh also plans to wrestle in college.

Luke is the son Mark and Mary Jo Schumacher and brother of Dirk and Sarah. During high school he was a member of Honor Roll and various clubs. He participat-ed in hockey and baseball all four years, playing varsity in

Emily says she will take everything she learned at the Gunnison Valley School with her into the next stage in life. She particularly en-joyed and excelled at choir and English. She believes the school changed her for

Stephanie is the daugh-ter of Cathe and Craig Schmitzer. She participated in marching band and sym-phonic band all four years in high school. She was also a varsity gymnast, as well as

the gymnastics team manager, and a cheerleader during her freshman year. In the fall Stephanie plans to attend Western State College to study history. Her dream is to become a his-tory teacher.
