in a studio entitled high contrast the ob-jective was to explore how one can utilize highly designed and intensive moments of formal creativity to provide new forms of interior and exterior public pleasure. as an alternative to saturating the project with intricate geometry, these intensive mo-ments work in collaboration with a more normal and un-authored form to develop new sensations through shape. within zod there was an exploration of how the articu-lated geometry can affect a corner, blend-ing multiple sides to one.

[re]villa is a translation of palladio’s villa la rotonda to a contemporary house for the italian fashion designer gianfranco ferré. in similar nature to a fashion designer, the normative condition of the villa la rotonda was reinterpreted while keeping in mind palladio’s design decisions. much like palla-dio’s villa, [re]villa becomes more than just a home for mr. ferré but a space in which he is able to collaborate with colleagues as well as entertain family and friends.

rigid forms force the soft inte-rior space to deform and create the central void. the surround-ing mass was then filled with house pro-gram

views frame dif-ferent aspects of the surrounding landscape

as families grow and transform in per-sonality their needs and desires for space vary as well. dynamic oscillation gives the owner an opportunity to possess a unit that can fluctuate along with their fam-ily’s needs over time. each unit is given multiple options for expansion which are included in the system. there is no need for additional pieces or new construction. if not used, these expansions can func-tion alone as studio apartments. there is no longer the need to sell your grand-parents home because it is too large for them, instead you simply sell unneeded pieces of the unit and keep the remainder.

as families change, so to does their need for space. base units are flanked by bonus units which can be combined in multiple ways to satisfy their needs.

each base and bonus unit is equipped with a kitchen and bathroom. within bonus units, these elements are hidden behind wall panels so when used as a bedroom they present no interruption of space

connection stairs are also kept hidden. when two units are joined, panels move to connect spaces between elements

is a systematic project shaped by a strict set of rules and guidelines. as op-posed to stereotypical libraries, the main pieces of program are not separated from the collection of book stacks. instead, book stacks are spread evenly throughout the entire building, creating an extremely open, public atmosphere in which individual private, semi-private and public programs scatter within and displace the regularity of the datum field. users are continuously engaged by the media while navigating to various destinations within.

off the coast of kuwait city, frag blends the rigid lines between land and sea by pulling pools of water inland and pushing islands of land out to sea. inside the aquarium us-ers enter above ground level and proceed either up to the restaurant or down to the aquarium level. by placing restaurant, discovery zone, and aquarium at different elevations with exterior views above, at and below water level respectively, there is a sensation of submersing below water level as they travel down to the aquarium. at the aquarium level, exhibits are situated in such a way that the user literally inhab-its the environment in which it exhibits. for example, as you enter the sea exhibit you notice the sea through the window above the entrance. on the interior fish tanks sur-round the user giving them the sensation of literally entering into the sea.
