Before the eruption happened, the city ofPompeii was celebrating the festival of theroman god of fire (Vulcan), when it hadpassed - BOOM Vesuvius erupted buryingthe city of Pompeii in ash and pumice. MountVesuvius is a strato volcano. 4. MOUNT TAMBORAMount Tambora is an active stratoconevolcano, located on the island of Sumbawa,Indonesia. Mount Tambora is 4,300 m high,making this volcano one of the tallest peaksin the Indonesian archipelago. 5. TECHTONIC PLATES!The earths surface is made up out of large techtonic plates, a little like a jigsaw puzzle. These plates are constantly travelling, moving a few centimetres a year.
