In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions

of real media products?

I feel that my media product uses, develops and challenges the forms and conventions of real media products in a variety of ways, I have used the key codes and conventions in many ways for example making sure that my main image adheres to the rule of three and making sure that I have the right image to text ratio.

Throughout my magazine you can look back and see that I have put my research that I did earlier on into good use and have added them to my final magazine front cover.

An example of this is my main image on my front cover, I have placed it the whole size of the cover page and positioned it so that the image is in the centre of the page. I have done this as it will be the first thing that the audience will see when they are looking at my magazine. I have also added my cover lines to the sides to show that they give information as to what is in my magazine but are not the most important thing on my front cover. I have not tried to shape my cover lines around my image like other magazines I have places them over it challenging the forms and conventions of real media products.

I have developed and challenged the original magazines in my double page spread, I have done this by cutting out the image that I was using and adding it on to a set background that I had.

I did this by cutting out the image from its original background and changing the contrast and brightness of the image so it would fit onto my background nicely and would blend in and look real. This will show the reader that my magazine is very professional and that the best software was used to produce this magazine for the audience. I changed this rather than sticking to the original codes and conventions and just adding one picture as my background.

Another way that I challenged the forms and conventions of real media products is in my images, a lot of magazines keep the same type of image throughout their pages whereas I have not opted for that, I have placed a variety of images in my magazine that are not all similar. You can see this when some images are cut out from their backgrounds and some are not, I used a variety of advanced technology to help me with my images throughout my magazine.

I have also not stuck to the original codes and conventions by keeping the same colours throughout my magazine, I have opted for different styles and different shades of colour which makes my magazine more unique compared to others of this kind.
