An active weather system has been producing rain of variable intensity over the Low elevation
plains and sub mountainous regions of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan,
Kashmir and adjoining parts of India. It is likely to persist for another 36 hours yielding more
rain of heavy to very heavy intensity in the upper catchments of the rivers Indus, Jhelum and
Chenab, while moderate to heavy in catchments of river Ravi & Sutlej. Riverine flood ranging
between High and Very High is expected in River Chenab & Jhelum while local Nullahs such
as Palku, Deg, Aik, Basantar, Bein, Hassri, Jhajri, Bhimber and Bhander may also swell
beyond their capacity.
There is chance of cloud burst due to influence of westerly wave specially over the upper
catchments of river Chenab.
All concerned authorities are requested to remain vigilant for next 24 hours.

FLOOD ALERT
Widespread thunderstorm rain with heavy to very heavy falls at scattered places and
Extremely Heavy falls at isolated places is expected over the lower & upper catchments of
rivers Sutlej, Ravi, Chenab and Jhelum from 20th to 24th September, 2015.
Exceptionally High flood situation is expected in rivers Chenab and Jhelum from 21st to 25th
September, 2015. Flood situation in river Sutlej and Ravi will depend on the releases from
Indian reservoirs. Exceptionally high flood situation is also expected in the Nullahs of rivers
Ravi and Chenab during the same period.
Any change in the above situation shall be updated accordingly.

SINDH AND BALOCHISTAN
According to latest Meteorological & Hydrological conditions analyzed by this office an active
Monsoon weather system is likely to affect Sindh province which may cause fairly widespread
thunderstorm/rain of moderate intensity with heavy falls at isolated places and very heavy falls
at some places during next 4-5 days . Urban flooding is expected in Karachi and Hyderabad
during the period.
Scattered thunderstorm of moderate intensity with isolated heavy falls is also expected in
Balochistan especially northeast central and coastal Balochistan which may also cause
flooding in local nullahs and rivers.
