NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY ACT, 1996 (ACT NO. 27 OF 1996)
APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS TO SERVE ON THE MINISTERIAL
PROJECT COMMITTEE AND ASSOCIATED STRUCTURES FOR THE
DEVELOPMENT OF A NATIONAL CURRICULUM STATEMENT FOR
FURTHER EDUCATION AND TRAINING: SCHOOLS
The Minister of Education, hereby in terms of Section 3(4,,(7,, of the National
Education Policy Act, 1996 (Act No. 27 of 1996), relating to curriculum frameworks,
core syllabuses and education programmes, learning 'standards, examinations and the
certification of qualification, approved the establishment of a Ministerial Project
Committee and associated curriculum development structures with the aim of
developing a National Curriculum Statement for Further Education and Training (FET)
schools.
A Ministerial Project Committee that will be supported by a well-represented
Reference Group comprising members of various institutions, organisations and social
partners will manage the process.
With regard to curriculum development the Ministerial Project Committee will be
assisted by various subject-working groups that will develop subject statements for the
25 identified subjects. These subject-working groups will be supplemented by a
number of associated structures to ensure that cross-curricular issues are duly
addressed. An administrative unit will assist the Ministerial Project Committee and its
associated structures.
