The following facilities were reported to

The A&E team visited Fynne Photo
and urge them to patronize the
operator assigned to them by
LAWMA and desist from patronizing
cart pushers.
The contact person met at the
Celestial Church premises during the
visit and promised to engage
operator the following day.
A&E team sensitized staff of Zenith
Sport centre on proper waste
management.
PSP operator is effective.
The A&E team visited a site proposed for cleanup by Executive Helping Initiatives at Kadara community on Monday 11/11/2019, Ebute-Metta Lagos. The following were discovered;
The resident live under poor insanitary
condition.
No drainage system.
No health Centre in the community
A&E team held a meeting with youth
leader, Mr Tony (08032464009) and
the following should be put in place
to achieve a good result on the
proposed clean up;
Mobilize community youth for the
cleanup exercise.
Advocacy and sensitization should
be carried on the day of the cleanup.
A meeting was scheduled to hold
between the Organizers, LAWMA
and Youth on Saturday 16/11/2019.

PURPOSE OF VISIT
To inspect and assess the facilities, operation vehicles/machineries of Messrs. De’ Monte Green
Recycling, WATCO & Urban Spirit Ventures and their readiness to begin recycling operation
1. DE’ MONTE GREEN RECYCLING
The facility is situated at 3, Palace way, Isheri Olofin on a plot of land .
The CEO is Mrs Ilugbadebo .
Facility has different sections such as Sorting, Bailing and storage
Secured with a perimeter fencing
Staff strength is twenty (20)
Operational truck is ISUZU NPR (Cabin) with Registration No. BDG760XY capacity of 5 tons was in
good condition.
Facility was already in operation as at the time of visit.
Land is on lease.
2. WATCO GLOBAL SERVICES LIMITED
Olive store, Crown & Mine, Wawa and Toly Dave merged together to form WATCO
Facility is situated at Obele Oniwala Street off Micheal Balogun off Itire Lawanson Road,
Administrative office is at 7, Bishop Crowther Street off Akerele Street, Surulere, Lagos
Facility was seen to be ready for use .
There are security guards on ground .
Facility size of less than a plot does not meet LAWMA’s required specification of a plot
One of the Directors assured the team that the facility would be expanded to two (2) plots as
there is more land space for that purpose.

Operational vehicle was a FORD ECOLINE (Double Cabin) with a capacity of three (3) tons and
registration number JJJ420XT
3. URBAN SPIRIT VENTURES
Situated at 12c, Ladoke Akintola Street, GRA, Ikeja on a two and half (21/2) plots of land
Land is on lease and easily accessible
There was no physical structure or machinery was seen on ground .
Two trucks with registration no. XS11KTU and BDG347XL are proposed to be used for operation
and were seen to be in good condition
SUGGESTIONS/RECOMMENDATIONS
1. De’ Monte Green Recycling may have to relocate or open another facility in Lagos State because the
present location falls under the territory of Ogun State
2. WATCO should ensure that expansion is carried out before operations commence.

Residents were interviewed to ascertain operator’s level of effectiveness

well.

informed operator comes regularly .
Gutter at market and Wilibour street were
blocked by plastic bottles and other waste
materials.

increased to 80% and payment to about 40%
due to our previous intervention.
Payment level is very low in this ward.

Mrs Minab (08035836375) on 25, Herbert
Marcualay disclosed that PSP comes weekly
to cart their waste.
Mrs Susan (08069310737) gives waste to cart
pusher but agreed to start patronizing PSP
after sensitization.
Mrs Adedoyin (09092442295) at Kadara
street reported that she was pleased with the
service of operator .
Mrs Omolabi (08026734201) on 32, Market
street informed us of her satisfaction with
operator.

Residents were interviewed on different streets to know if operator comes regularly .

payment for services.

Operator covers about twenty-five Streets.
Operator has two trucks and carries out operation on Monday, Wednesday and Friday sometimes on Saturday when there is backlog.
Both trucks were used for operation simultaneously at different locations.
Each street is serviced about three times a week
Operator makes 5-6 trips per week to the landfill site

Mr Sheriff Rahmon, the supervisor put compliance at about 75% and payment at less than 25%.

Mr. Irabor (0802626234) at 27, Adeniji Street informed the team that operator services them either on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Mrs Salaudeen (08062827110) at 31, Adeniji Close is satisfied with Operator’s services
Mrs Taiwo (08030739575) at Durojaiye Street, informed the team that operator is effective.
The team visited the printing press at 2, Adeniji Street where the Supervisor complained of debt since January. The Manager of the facility promised to pay when sales improves.
Mr Micheal Opara (07062403879) resident at 1, Ladega Close believes operator’s service is fair.
Resident at 55, Durojaiye Street promised to pay operator before the end of the month.
Residents were interviewed to ascertain operator’s effectiveness
Mediation was carried out between operator defaulting clients.
Sensitization was carried out and trash bags was distributed.
There is need for intensive advocacy and sensitization for tenements to enhance payment.
