CAR PARK TEMPORARILY CLOSED Gosford City Council has closed the Deerubbin Reserve car park while resurfacing works are completed. The works are expected to be completed by this Sunday 7 September. Warning signs will be in place during this period to notify the community about the closure.

AT THE LAST COUNCIL MEETING Following a recent site inspection with the applicant and concerned residents, council has approved a development valued at around $1.6 million in Umina Beach. The development will include commercial offices, a childcare centre and residential apartments on the corner of West Street and Rickard Street.

AT THE LAST COUNCIL MEETING Council will acquire land from a number of properties to allow construction works to commence for Stage 2 of the Rawson Road Railway Level Crossing Replacement Project. Council will need to partially acquire five properties, two of which are privately owned. Funds received from the purchase of any COSS land will fund future COSS projects.

AT THE LAST COUNCIL MEETINGCouncil has extended its current Central Coast Stadium catering contract with Gema Group Holdings Pty Ltd for a further five years. As part of the contract extension, Gema Group Holdings has also been given approval to make significant investments to update and improve catering facilities at the stadium. This will ensure quality catering services continue to be provided at the stadium.

AT THE LAST COUNCIL MEETING Given reports that federal government funding for a high speed rail project has been reallocated, council will write to local state and federal members to seek confirmation that both levels of government still support the project. Council will emphasise the importance of high speed rail to Central Coast residents, especially commuters.

AT THE LAST COUNCIL MEETINGSocial procurement is a strategic approach to using processes and purchasing power to generate positive social and economic benefits for the community. So that council can continue to contribute significantly to these outcomes through its procurement and project management activities, a working group will be established to consider implementing a Social Procurement policy.

AT THE LAST COUNCIL MEETINGIn the latest round of Heritage Grants, there were 17 applications from owners of private dwellings and community groups who manage and conserve some of our most significant heritage items. Following an assessment of all applications, 10 properties were allocated a total of $47,000 in funding. The Heritage Grants Program provides financial assistance to property owners and managers to conserve identified heritage items within the Gosford LGA.
