Prelegomenon

Geo Genetics is a col lect ion of studio pro jects undertaken by Gordon Goh JX dur ing h is undergraduate studies in Landscape Archi tecture in Univers i ty of Tasmania. The pro jects explore form and funct ion, through research and study of geologica l st ructures and format ions, and a lso b io logica l systems and mechanisms. These pro jects encapsulate the imaginat ion and ideas for future landscape design and solut ion. The Landscapes are being interpreted in an art ist ic and poet ic manner, br idging both art and sc ience into one cohesive mani festat ion, which push the boundar ies wi th in the cul tura l and pol i t ica l system, the ecologica l and societa l env i rons. Overa l l , the Landscapes h ighl ight the s igni f icance of meaning, purpose and l i fe.

Franklin SquareMUSEUM LANDSCAPE

Franklin Square, a depository of experiences and memories. Its Landscape narrates a solemn story,A story of the struggles and victories, The conflicts and reconciliations,The meek and the strong, The Aboriginals and the Whites.

Page 7: Gordon Goh Landscape Architecture Portfolio

7

The Landscape is a form of art. Through artistic expression, the Land has been transformed.

Thus, a Landform that speaks and narrates is created.

LANDSCAPE MAPPING

This studio explores the intricacy of the Tasmanian Landscapes.By understanding the fluvial processes, geomorphology, and vegetation, A miniature landscape of Tasmania is thus created,To bring forth the sense of place.

Programming Water Collection and Discharge

Plant Cell regulates water movements into and out of it’s body.

Concept being applied to North Bank Site to control the volume of water being collected within the site and discharged out into the Tamar Estuary.

North Bank PlaygroundA NARATIVE THRESHOLDThe playground plays a didactic role in teaching children the importance of natural environments.

The THRESHOLD uses the Scientific definition of Eco-logical Threshold as an analogy to create a Spatially experienced Threshold.

This is a collaborative studio with 24 CARROT PROJECT, which is partnered with MONA. This project helps to promote ownership and sense of community within Gagebrook Area. This aims to increase food productivity and availability in the area, as well as ensuring food security among the poor disadvantaged students.
