Audio  narra>on  script  or  other  mul>media  elements  (ie.  video)  descrip>on.    Narra>on  script  should  be  wriJen  out  fully  in  this  sec>on.    By  the  end  of  this  training,  you  will  be  able  to:  create  a  new  Google  Form,  locate  a  summary  of  the  responses,  determine  interven>ons  based  on  survey  data,  propose  how  you  can  use  Google  Forms  in  your  classroom,  and  jus>fy  why  Google  Forms  would  be  the  best  method  of  surveying  at  CTRA.    Let’s  get  started!

Interac>vity,  anima>on,  and  addi>onal  naviga>onal  instruc>ons  should  be  fully  described  in  this  sec>on.    Include  any  branching  instruc>ons.    (For  example,  if  users  click  on  item  1  then  display  slide  4;  if  users  click  on  item  2  then  display  slice  5;  if  users  click  on  item  3  then  display  slide  6.)

Audio  narra>on  script  or  other  mul>media  elements  (ie.  video)  descrip>on.    Narra>on  script  should  be  wriJen  out  fully  in  this  sec>on.    The  wonderful  thing  about  Google  Forms  is  that  it  charts  and  graphs  your  survey  data  for  you.  So,  we  are  going  to  look  at  the  data  from  the  survey  you  just  took.  Please  make  sure  you  are  signed  into  Gmail.  First,  you  will  click  on  the  link  to  the  survey  I  just  emailed  you.  Next,  you  will  click  “Edit  this  Form”  in  the  upper  right  hand  corner.  Next,  click  on  “Responses”  and  then  “Summary  of  Responses.”    Forma3ve  Assessment:    As  you  look  at  the  data,  I  want  you  to  think  of  three  interven>ons  you  could  make  based  on  the  needs  of  the  learners.  I  will  give  you  two  minutes  of  think  >me.  Now  that  you  have  had  two  minutes,  you  are  each  going  to  write  at  least  three  interven>ons  you  could  make  based  on  this  data,  share  it  with  your  team,  and  then  place  each  s>cky  note  in  the  middle  of  the  table.  I  would  like  to  hear  your  top  three  interven>ons  as  a  team.

Notes:  2. Given an in-person tutorial, classroom teachers at CTRA will be able to successfully locate a summary of the responses of a sample Google Form. 3. Given a sample Google Forms data set, classroom teachers at CTRA will be able to determine three interventions they would make in the classroom immediately. Possible interventions: teach teachers how to use technology for surveys to save time, implement a universal way of taking surveys at CTRA, get teachers to conduct surveys by teaching them how fast Google Forms is

Accessing,  Crea>ng,  &  Sharing  Google  Forms    On  screen  content  (What  will  display  on  this  screen?)    The  trainer’s  laptop  should  display  on  this  screen,  so  that  as  they  go  through  the  steps  of  accessing  and  crea>ng  Google  Forms,  the  trainees  can  par>cipate.

Audio  narra>on  script  or  other  mul>media  elements  (ie.  video)  descrip>on.    Narra>on  script  should  be  wriJen  out  fully  in  this  sec>on.    Now  that  you  know  how  to  access  data  from  your  surveys,    you  probably  want  to  know  how  to  actually  create  a  Google  Form.  First,  we  need  to  come  up  with  an  idea  for  a  survey  we  might  administer  in  the  classroom  (trainer  will  field  ideas  un>l  an  agreement  is  reached).  Please  do  the  steps  with  me  as  we  create  this  survey  together.  First,  we  are  going  to  go  to  our  Drive.  Then,  we  will  click  on  “New”  and  then  “Google  Forms.”  A  new  Google  Form  pops  up.  We  need  to  give  it  a  >tle.  Now  we  need  to  choose  our  ques>ons.  (As  the  survey  is  made,  the  trainer  will  go  over  the  different  types  of  ques>ons  available  in  Google  Forms  and  field  ques>ons).  Once  we  are  happy  with  our  survey,  we  are  going  to  click  “Done.”  Now,  our  survey  is  ready  to  be  shared.  When  I  click  “Done,”  I  always  email  a  link  to  the  survey  to  myself.  I  then  copy  the  link  from  my  email  and  paste  it  into  Moodle.  This  way,  students  can  easily  access  the  survey.

Notes:  1. Given an in-person tutorial, classroom teachers at CTRA will be able to successfully create a new Google Form.

On  screen  content  (What  will  display  on  this  screen?)    Best  Prac>ces    •  Tell  students  why  they  are  taking  the  survey  and  what  you  will  use  it  for  •  Make  the  survey  anonymous,  but  give  students  the  op>on  to  put  their  names  •  Follow  up  with  absent  students  so  that  you  know  you  have  ALL  of  the  data

Proposed  image  or  graphic  for  this  slide

Audio  narra>on  script  or  other  mul>media  elements  (ie.  video)  descrip>on.    Narra>on  script  should  be  wriJen  out  fully  in  this  sec>on.    It’s  always  a  great  idea  to  explain  to  students  what  you  need  this  data  for.  They  will  probably  take  the  survey  more  seriously  if  you  do  so,  and  then  you  will  have  beJer  data.  You  should  also  make  the  survey  anonymous  because  you  want  students  to  be  honest.  I  always  put  a  text  box  at  the  top  for  an  op>onal  name  field  ,  but  I  do  not  make  that  ques>on  required.  Finally,  if  a  student  misses  the  survey  when  you  give  it,  make  sure  you  follow  up  to  have  them  take  it.    Can  you  think  of  any  other  best  prac>ces?

Interac>vity,  anima>on,  and  addi>onal  naviga>onal  instruc>ons  should  be  fully  described  in  this  sec>on.    Include  any  branching  instruc>ons.    (For  example,  if  users  click  on  item  1  then  display  slide  4;  if  users  click  on  item  2  then  display  slice  5;  if  users  click  on  item  3  then  display  slide  6.)

Discovering  Uses  for  Google  Forms  On  screen  content  (What  will  display  on  this  screen?)    How  will  you  use  Google  Forms  in  your  classroom?

Proposed  image  or  graphic  for  this  slide

Audio  narra>on  script  or  other  mul>media  elements  (ie.  video)  descrip>on.    Narra>on  script  should  be  wriJen  out  fully  in  this  sec>on.    Now  that  you  have  seen  a  couple  models  of  Google  Forms  and  have  had  the  opportunity  to  create  one  together,  you  probably  have  ideas  for  how  you  can  apply  this  applica>on  in  your  classroom.  Forma3ve  Assessment:    Please  write  down  at  least  three  ideas  you  have  (give  two  minutes  think  >me).  Now  you  will  share  your  ideas  with  your  shoulder  partner  in  a  RallyRobin.  It’s  okay  if  you  wrote  down  more  than  three  ideas.  I  would  like  each  pair  to  share  their  best  idea.

Notes:  4. Given Google Forms training, classroom teachers will be able to propose three ways they can use Google Forms in the classroom. Possible ways teachers will use Google Forms: end of unit surveys, class climate surveys, short quizzes, teacher surveys

5. Given Google Forms training, classroom teachers at CTRA will be able to justify why Google Forms is the best method of surveying by successfully completing a personal reflection survey in Google Forms. Survey Questions (possible answers for each question are: strongly agree, agree, neutral, disagree, strongly disagree): The trainer was knowledgeable. This training was useful to me in my role at CTRA. I am confident that I can immediately implement what I learned in this training. Also leave a text box for open comments (should participants care to leave them).

Describe  both  posi>ve  and  nega>ve  feedback  for  each  ques>on  here.  Include  whether  the  feedback  and/or  ques>ons  should  be  narrated.    N/A
