Welcome to the 1st issue of Goodtimes for the County of Flintshire!

“Being a local business, that is still building, we are very aware that our budget (which is limited) has to be spent well. and advertising has to be chosen well. I have advertised in Goodtimes, and also done a AD Feature with them in the Denbighshire issue. I have just placed an advert in the Conwy issue, being a wedding photographer we cover the whole of North Wales, and Goodtimes is perfect for us, it is in the right places, and is read by the people that we are trying to reach. The quality of the magazine is excellent too, which when printing photographs is crucial. I would recommend Goodtimes for its quality, affordability and coverage.”

Lee Howard, Howard Portraits

‘We have been delighted with the response from our feature in Goodtimes Magazines. We have been able to promote and explain our service to a local audience throughout the whole of North Wales. The quality, content and distribution of the magazines is superb and they conduct themselves in a friendly, efficient and very professional way.’

Performance is even more acutely of the essence in the new Audi R8 GT, a distillation of the celebrated R8 V10 formula into an even more concentrated and potent form. Through an engine upgrade to 560PS, and the use of even more intensively weight optimized alternatives to many body and mechanical components, the 100kg lighter R8 GT is able to deliver even more breathtaking pace and handling poise. A total of 33 examples of the most extreme road-going R8 to date will become available to order in the summer at an OTR price of £142,585.

The R8 GT benefits from the considerable expertise gained in paring back the weight and maximizing the performance potential of the R8 LMS GT3, the circuit car with which it draws obvious parallels, and which won 23 races in its

first season and claimed three championships in 2009 and 2010.

Thanks to its largely hand built aluminium Audi Space Frame (ASF) body, weighing only 210 kilograms, and the lightweight aluminium panels joined to it with exceptional precision, the ‘standard’ R8 is already a flyweight by class standards, but by closely scrutinizing every element of the car Audi engineers have managed to whittle away a further 100kg, taking the kerb weight to 1,525kg.

Nine of these kilograms were lost through the use of thinner glass for the windscreen, and a strong but light polycarbonate for the bulkhead and the window in the rear hatch. Lighter sheet metal and additional cutouts shaved a further 2.6 kilograms from the aluminium ‘boot lid’ covering

the 100 litre luggage compartment at the front, and at the rear the replacement of the speed activated rear spoiler with a fixed rear wing docked an additional 1.2 kilograms.

Use of carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) for the rear ‘bonnet’ has eliminated a further 6.6 kilograms, and a new CFRP rear bumper and CFRP sideblades also save 5.2 and 1.5 kilograms respectively. With its minimal weight and extremely high strength, CFRP is the ideal material for a high-performance sports car, and Audi has broad-based expertise in its use.

The technical components of the R8 GT have not been ignored either. One kilogram has been deducted from the brake system, four kilograms from the aluminium caps of the brake discs, 9.4 kilograms from the battery, 2.3 kilograms from the air intake module and 2.8 kilograms from the insulation of the engine compartment.

The interior also offered substantial weight-saving potential. Numerous details have been further refined, key among these being the fitting of lightweight carpeting which accounts for 7.9 kilograms and the installation of bucket seats with a glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) chassis which cut 31.5 kilograms.

In 2010 cancer was the world’s top killer and will touch each and every one of us in our lifetime. It is a global issue in need of support from a worldwide network. In 2007, LHSF was co-founded by leukemia survivors Mike Peters of the Welsh rock band The Alarm and President of CSI Entertainment James Chippendale who believe that awareness, early detection and proper treatment should not be a luxury and wanted to find a way to ensure that all people have access to the same resources that saved their lives. With headquarters in Denver, CO and chapters in Dallas, Peru, United Kingdom and Australia, the Love Hope Strength Foundation has performed concerts on 6 continents in just two year’s time. We led musical pilgrimages to remote venues such as the base camp of Everest, the top of The Empire State Building, the Inca ruins of Machu Picchu, and the glacier of Kilimanjaro and reach out through the

I am aware of the growing number of outlets that the magazines are being distributed to, and it is great to see how much in demand they are, a real bonus for us! I look forward to working with GOODTIMES in the future as it is now an important part of our marketing campaigns for all our shows.’

We decided not to go the easy route by delivering to houses where we have no idea how many are read or how many are thrown straight into the bin! People who pick up a copy of our Magazine do so because they WANT a copy.

Every issue we have produced in every County has been in demand and the full allocation has been taken by the public. We also post around 200 copies to local businesses in the County.

“As a fledgling business we were lucky enough to be

introduced to Nathan at the ‘Goodtimes Magazine’.

Offered the opportunity to advertise in the mag we leapt

at the chance. A brilliant designer for the ad, 3 months

advertising and all for a great price - what more could

we hope for? As the Teashop, Ambrosia, is in Rhos

on Sea we choose the Denbighshire edition but have

realised the benefits of contributing to the Conwy

Edition too - can’t wait. Thanks very much to a great

If I said to you that once a week I stand in a tent, wearing a pair of paper knickers, and a rather fetching mop cap whilst my friend and business partner sprays me all over with a cold solution, “I bet you think I am in need of help”. However, despite the fact that my friends and clients think I am a bit dippy, I am in fact having a spray tan.

You see I used to worship the sun, I would lie for hours covered in coconut oil, and sometimes even used foil to deflect the suns rays onto my skin (sorry mum, that is where it went) in my quest to be browner than my mates. If the sun was not blessing me with its presence I would head to the sun bed shop and get my tan.

But as the years went by I found an easier, quicker and more reliable way of getting that sun kissed look I adore so much.

We all have a friend who has a tanning disaster or maybe you have had one yourself. I hope I can help you to get sunless tanning right the first time and also reassure that the days of the orange tan are numbered provide you do your homework.

I am asked so many questions about tanning and the most common are:

1. Will i be very dark or very light? No, you won’t be unless you want to be! A good tanning company will have a range of solutions that the therapist can choose from to suit your skin exactly.

2. Will i be orange? No, you won’t be if the therapist uses a product that contains no orange tones and/or also chooses a solution to suit you.

3. Will it last?Yes it will, around 5-7 days IF you follow your aftercare advice correctly.

Firstly you need to find a therapist, so ask your friends and also go into the salon and have a look around, ask lots of questions and find out what variety of tans they offer. If the therapist is disinterested or vague about the solutions they use then go somewhere else. The key to a great tan is to find a great therapist, one that you feel comfortable with.

Secondly preparation is the key. If you leave the salon (or end the phone call with no advice then call back and ask for some and if they are

not accommodating cancel your booking and go elsewhere.

Thirdly, try to relax during the tan, it will only take around 10-15 minutes for a spray tan, a good therapist will understand if you are nervous and also be more then happy to explain things to you.

Lastly, make sure you get your aftercare advice. If they take your money and offer you very little or no advice other than “wash it off in 8-12 hours” you need to go elsewhere next time.

Aftercare is vital to a good tan and my top tips are:

1. Do not come into contact with any water whilst the tan is taking.

2. Shower the tan off when the time is up. Don’t be tempted to leave it on for longer than the therapist has suggested.

3. Moisturise EVERY day preferably with an oil free moisturiser, but any is better than none.

4. Exfoliate the skin gently EVERY day from day 4 to help the tan fade naturally and gradually.

Sunless tanning is a great alternative to a real tan and done properly looks fantastic. Why not give it a whirl? You never know, you may even be converted!
