Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny

Theater Performance

www.trustarts.org/pghkids

I am going to the August Wilson Center!

I am going to watch a theater performance called Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny. We can use this map to help find the August Wilson Center.

Here are things I will see on the day of the performance!

This building is called the August Wilson Center.

I will go here to see the performance.

The Main Door

I will walk through these doors to get inside.

The Reception

We may wait in line here with other people to pick up our tickets.

The Hallways

Once we have our tickets, we will walk through the halls to show our tickets to the ushers. The hallways will be filled with people. There will be activities I can do while I am

waiting.

Going Into the Theater

This is where I will wait to go into the theater with other children. I will try my best to be calm while I wait my turn. I can hold my grown-up’s hand, take deep slow breaths, or

squeeze a squishy star the ushers will give me if I need one.

The Ushers

The ushers will be dressed in purple or white festival shirts. I will show them my ticket. They can also help me find my seats or give me a squishy star to squeeze. I can talk to

them if I need any help while I’m in the theater.

Tickets

I will show my ticket to the ushers when it is time to go into the theater.

Seats

This is what the seats will look like in the theater.

Where are the bathrooms?

I can find the bathrooms by following the signs along the purple wall on the first floor.

Bathrooms

I can ask my grown-up if I need to use the bathroom or get a drink from the water fountain.

Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny When I get to my seat, I will see a performance with two stories. I will see a story called The Runaway Bunny. Then I will see a story called Goodnight Moon. These stories are

also books.

Puppets and Puppeteers These performances uses glowing props and puppets. People called puppeteers make the

puppets move in the performance. The puppeteers dress in black.

I can see the puppeteer standing behind the puppet.

These are the puppeteers who make the puppets move.

Here are the puppets for The Runaway Bunny. They are called Little Bunny and Mother.

Little Bunny tells his Mother he will become a bird and fly away.

Mother says she will become a tree that he will come home to.

Here is what the stage will look like when I watch Goodnight Moon. There are glowing props. The theater won’t get too dark.

I can see the puppeteers dressed in black behind the puppet.

These are the puppets in Goodnight Moon.

It is bedtime and Bunny says good night to everything in his room.

The lady is whispering hush.

The bunny says goodnight to a cow jumping over the moon.

During the Performance

During the performance, I will stay in my seat. If I feel scared, I can cover my ears, squeeze something squishy, or hold my grown-up’s hand. I can also ask my grown-up to

take me to a quiet place if I need a break.

Clapping

People clap at the end of a performance to show that they enjoyed the show. If I think the clapping is too loud, I can cover my ears.

Leaving the Theater

After the performance is over, we will get any jackets or bags, throw out our trash, and leave the theater. Here is a picture of children leaving a theater.

The Festival

I will find more fun activities located throughout the neighborhood. If my grown-up says it is okay, they can take me here before or after the performance.

We hope that you have a great time at Goodnight Moon and The

Runaway Bunny and the rest of the Children’s Theater Festival!

If I want to learn more, I can ask my grown-up to watch a preview

online! www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQLzuh9C4YE
