Message from Monsignor René Mathieu: (1) This Sunday, Kim Michelle Adams, Staci Elizabeth Dallaire and Matthew Alan Tarring are being received into the full communion of the Catholic Church. After making a profession of faith, they will receive the sacrament of Confirmation during the 8:30 am Sunday Mass at Most Holy Trinity Church. (2) Beginning this week, Tuesday and Friday 7 am Masses will relocate from Most Holy Trinity Church to Ste Anne

Chapel at St. Joseph Church through mid-November. (3) In time for Easter, a monu-ment-style sign identifying the property was erected in front of St. Joseph Church. It completes the project renovating the exterior property at that location. The parking area was originally designed in the 1920s when vehicles were few & most people walked to Mass. The reconstructed lot funded by a generous bequest received from the estate of Marguerite Boivin, features many improvements & safety features including the relocation of St. Joseph Street in order to consolidate our parking lot, and a newly constructed “handicap designated” lot joined to a completely re-built handicap entrance ramp. We also added lighting, sidewalks, fencing, landscaping & parking space strip-ing. While the lot remains situated in a challenging area with both high and low spots, all can agree that the property is much nicer to the eye and much safer even as the num-ber of parking spaces remains restricted by the amount of property we own. A final addition is in the works: some kind of small sign attached to the front of the church building listing the times of Masses & confessions. (4) The parish is planning several improvement projects this year, including the major roof replacement projects planned for St. Philip in Lyman and St. Margaret in Old Orchard Beach. (5) Bishop Robert Deeley will visit us next Sunday, April 30, to administer the sacraments of Confirmation & First Communion. All are welcome to participate in the Mass at St. Joseph Church beginning at 3:00 pm. This Mass satisfies the Sunday obligation. (6) “The Joy of Love experienced by families is also the joy of the Church.” That is the beginning and the heart of Amoris Laetitae, Pope Francis’ apostolic exhortation on the joy of love. To celebrate, promote, protect and strengthen marriage and families, the Diocese of Portland has launched the Joy of the Family initiative. A monthly resource guide is published on the diocesan website (www.portlanddiocese.net or via our parish website), and I will include portions in my weekly message. I have already begun to use intercessions recommended by the resource for weekend Masses. (7) Thank You of the Week: Hundreds of parishioners devote themselves generously to support the litur-gical life of our parish, especially during Lent, Holy Week and the Easter season. In particular, I wish to acknowledge those who offer hospitality as you arrive for Mass, the ushers, those who count attendance, decorators, flower donors, sacristans, masters of ceremony, those who pick up, unlock and lock after Mass, adult and youth altar servers, readers, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion (at Mass and caring for the sick & housebound), music ministers, catechists and other leaders of Christian initi-ation, those who see to it that the offertory is safely deposited after Mass, worship commission members & those who work with them. Various parishioners organize and direct special prayer opportunities including adoration, vespers, stations of the cross, daily rosary, prayer groups and other devotions. The parish staff works especially hard at this time of year, and I am grateful for our parochial vicars, retired priests and deacons for their ministry and fraternity. On behalf of the entire Catholic community, I thank all of you for your dedication and love of our sacred seasons, ceremonies and places. Thank you!

JOKES PRIESTS CAN TELL, Vol. 7 - Msgr. Tonne: A woman was upset because her son was failing. “Why don’t you give five dollars for every A he gets?” asked a friend. “I tried, but the teacher won’t accept it.”

A Blessing of Homes During Eastertime

O God, make the door of this house wide enough to receive all who need human love and fellowship,

and narrow enough to shut out all envy, pride and strife.

Make its threshold smooth enough to be no stumbling block to children, nor to straying feet, but rugged and strong enough to turn back the

tempter's power. God, make the door to this house the gateway to

your eternal kingdom. Grant this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Easter Message from Bishop Robert P. Deeley Jesus is Risen! Alleluia! In the joy of those words, I wish you all a blessed and happy Easter. In these days of Easter, we rejoice that Jesus, who is for us Light of the World, rose from the dead. In his

resurrection, we find our hope and our joy. This celebration is at the heart of our Christian faith. When we open our hearts to the wonder of this message, we walk with Jesus, sharing in his life and his peace.

His message is one of hope for all. As we renew our promises of baptism at Easter, may we who profess faith in his Resurrection strive to bring Jesus’ hope to all, particularly those who are poor and those

who live in fear. Let us live in the Light Jesus shows us as we strive to love as he has shown us. I pray your celebration of this great feast

is a time of grace. A blessed Easter to you and your loved ones.
