Alan was presented the first-ever ASCAP Heritage Award at the 52nd Annual ASCAP Country Music Awards in

Nashville. Jackson earned the title of most performed country music songwriter-artist of ASCAP’s first 100 years. The award was presented by ASCAP President and Chairman of the Board Paul Williams and special guest presenter Connie Bradley in commemoration of ASCAP’s first 100 years. Alan was markedly surprised and honored saying, “I don’t even know what to say. I’m just an old country boy that’s had a lot of blessings. Like I’ve said before, I’m just a singer of simple songs and came [to Nashville] to sing country songs and songwriting means more to me than anything.” He added saying to his peers of artists, songwriters and music industry colleagues in the room, “Try to remember it’s about the music. Try not to look at those charts.”

FAN SPOTLIGHT

Hello Alan and the Fan Club girls! I wanted to take a moment to send Alan my congratulations for the past

25 years of incredible success! I also wanted to extend to him my deep appreciation for providing the Country Music Hall of Fame the chance to display some of his most cherished belongings for us fans to enjoy. The exhibit was incredible and overwhelming, and truthfully, took a couple times through in order to ensure I didn’t miss anything. Alan’s songs have truly touched my heart and helped influence my life in a variety of ways. I have been a fan from the moment I first heard “I’ll Go on Loving You” on the radio and thought: “My goodness what a beautiful song!” I was instantly hooked, and have collected every album he’s released, attended over 10 shows including his 1999 Fan Fair performance; I hauled a boat from Houston to Alabama to see him perform at Aquapalooza in 2009; and excitedly supported his induction award ceremony in 2011 to the Houston Rodeo Hall of Fame. But the experience that truly took the cake came last Friday, August 29th, when I got the chance to view his most prized possessions at the Country Music Hall of Fame. As soon as the news about the exhibit was released last June during your press conference, I saved every penny possible so that I could travel from Fort Worth, Texas to Nashville to attend the exhibit on opening weekend. For several months my excitement steadily

built until the moment finally arrived when I entered the Country Music Hall of Fame and got my first glimpse of that strikingly white, incredibly gorgeous 1955 T-Bird. From one classic car lover to another, thank you Alan for sharing her for a few days! She truly is beautiful! The second wave of excitement hit me when I stepped off the elevator and entered the exhibit. As I slowly made my way from one end to the other, marveling at all the accolades, awards, childhood toys, collectibles, family photos and yes even those holey jeans, I felt awed and incredibly humbled to be a part of it. The exhibit and associated experience was everything I ever imagined it would be! I am so glad that I had the opportunity to go! Thank you again for opening your life to us fans! Hopefully, one day, I’ll get the chance to express my gratitude in person! Now that would be the ULTIMATE experience! With deep appreciation from an avid fan, Leah Jackson
