Glad you think so. So anyway, the last time you were here we talked about the family drama that ensuedafter Rhiannon got pregnant. Well, eventually the remaining three kids headed off to university along withSolan s pupil Aiden. He and Xanthe got along great., but he and Kalana got off on the wrong foot.

Sorry, I need to back up don t I? Well, the twins went to meet the newly arrived Matak elves for lunch.

During the meal, Ani-Mei let it slip that their decision to try and locate their lost relatives and arrival onLoros could not have come at a better time for Aiden. Kalana had decided right away that Ani-Mei was upto no good, because she felt that the elf had talked down to her when they d first met. Her statement about Aiden somehow translated to Kalana that he was a wanted criminal on the run from the law.

She called Aiden a murderer, and then those two nearly ended up in a knock down drag out fight in themiddle of the citadel. If Xanthe hadn t wedged herself between them, honestly I don t like thinking about that. It was not the best way for Kalana to make her first impression on Ani-Mei and the other Matakelves.

No wonder so many of them voted for Xanthe instead.

Once again, Kalana had gottenherself into trouble by jumping tothe wrong conclusion and Aidenwas not the sort of guy you want to accuse of murdering someone.

She did what? She called him a murderer,because she was sure the elveswere keeping a big secret.

What?

Many of the Matak did vote for Xanthe to become heiress. She was very popular with them.However, Kalana had far more supporters than her little sister or her brother and so she waselected Supreme Councilor by a landslide.

To be honest with you, I was surprised that Kalana got married. She was always so independent and strongwilled. Not to mention she had that nasty streak. But Kalana knew the heiress was expected to get married andhave kids, and so she dated around. But no man ever seemed able to keep her interest. She was not about tosettle down into a loveless marriage because tradition said the head councilor always got married and had kids.She had a brother and two sisters who were more than happy to pop out kids. This led her to make theannouncement that one of their kids could inherit the position once she was too old to do it anymore.

But she had kids didn t she?

Yes she had a pair of twin boys.

Ryker? I thought Kalana and Papa Z got along.

Oh they did. Zeric and Kalana were very close. But Kalana never did get along with my Edi. But she tolerated her out of love for her cousin and Edith tolerated Kalana out of love for her husbandand her best friend Xanthe.

Kalana spent most of her time studying politics, history, military strategy, economics, diplomacy, andmanagement. Her twin sister and older brother spent their years at university exploring ancient elvenruins. And in Lir s case throwing massive parties and spending hours on the bubble blower.

And when my son Omri decided to travel to the home world where Kaya s parents had come from tolearn more about his alien heritage, Xanthe was more than happy to tag along. My son decided tostay on Ilos, but Xanthe returned to give me the message having experienced another spectacularadventure, and having met the love of her life, Dyami Huinke, while she was there.

Kalana had always wanted to run a successful business enterprise and she wasted no time in startingher dynasty. While she was in college she purchased and started her first business, The V, which wasa gym. Kalana had always enjoyed working out and she was more than happy to pass on herknowledge to those who were interested. By the time Kalana had finished college, The V, was themost popular gym in Loros.

Kalana had also always enjoyed fashion and eventually found a look that suited her twin sister Xanthe.Little Xan had wanted to change her look because the wonderful man she d met on Ilos had taken the timeto journey all the way to Loros to find her. He just hadn t been able to get her out of his mind.

Kalana graduated from Valenwood University with a perfect 4.0 GPA. She also earned severalbusiness awards and had been inducted into the Future Leaders Society.

Kalana s first order of business upon returning to Loros was the attendance of the family weddings. Lir andhis sweetheart Diane Cho were the first to tie the knot. They opted for a very traditional weddingsurrounded by family and friends. I heard it was quite an affair.

The entire family and Elder Council was invited along with pretty much half of Loros. Both Lir andDiane seemed to have the ability to make friends wherever they went. I swear whenever I went to theirhouse someone was on the phone, or writing a letter to a friend.

Aiden came to the wedding?

Well, yes he came to the wedding. Though he wasn t fond of Kalana, his mentor Solan had been unableto make the trip and so he d come in his place to protect Lady Ani-Mei. Not to worry though, Kalanawasn t about to ruin her brother s special day no matter how she might have felt about Aiden.

Ani-Mei and Lir had hit it off immediately and she was also quite fond of Diane. She was a commonvisitor to Lir s home over the years.

She even offered Lir s twin girls some private tutoring. That s Diane and Lir s eldest Mei-Lien.

And that is their youngest Mei-Zien. She was particularly fond of her Pops.

Kalana kept in touch with her older brother over the years, and she and Diane found that they shared aninterest in design and fashion.

It wasn t long before Kalana s twin and Dyami Huinke had their own wedding. However, they opted for asmall ceremony in their living room surrounded by family and friends to the extravagant formal wedding.

Kalana really liked Orianna didn t she?

Ha! You bet. Once she met the little girl that had been the cause of so much drama, K, found sheabsolutely adored her niece. Orianna was Kalana s shadow and followed her Aunt around everywhere.Orianna was a reserved and extremely polite young lady. In all the years I knew her, Orianna rarelyraised her voice. She was naturally selfless and was exceptionally kind. She had a way of seeing the

good in others around her, and had a way of bringing out a person s very best qualities.

It was his suggestion that their wedding reception take place poolside. The family spent the afternoon loungingby the pool and the afternoon was capped off by a barbeque. Orianna was a bit shy about diving off that divingboard. She d only recently learned to swim and I don t think she felt all that comfortable with the idea of leapinginto the deep end right off the bat.

Hey Ryker, guess what? I ve jumped off a diving board before. It was the one at school that s like 50 feet highand I wasn t scared at all!

Well, that s great Al. Orianna never jumped off anything 50 feet high, but she did dive into the pool. I heardshe was cheered on by her Nana and by Lady Gem.

It didn t take the Huinke family long to expand.

But their family wasn t that BIG.

No, I guess compared to ours the Huinke family s kinda small huh?

The first Huinke, was named Chayton, though he went by Chay most of the time. Xanthe was more thanhappy to follow Dyami s family traditions and so their children s names.

Though Dyami and Xanthe both made sure that their family was close knit. Chay learned early on fromboth parents to be a supportive big brother who always looked after his little brother and sisters.

Howi came second in line, and though he was second Howi ended up taking over the family home. Chaynever settled down and had a family of his own, but the eldest Huinke was always willing to be a dotinguncle.

And then last, but not least Dyami and Xanthe gave birth to their twin girls. The eldest was Migisi.Compared to her siblings, Migisi was a loner. She tended to spend most of her time playing on herown.

And then there was Kimimela! Or super hyper Kimi. She had more energy than a hamster on coffee and at alltimes she had at least an inch of dirt beneath her fingers and toes. She never ceased to talk and to her Aunt Kalana s utter annoyance she never mastered the basic use of the English language.

Since both Dyami and Xanthe believed that the entire family should be involved in helping them raise their kids,Kalana and the rest of the family were regular visitors. Dyami s relatives even though they did not make regularvisits, wrote and called often.

Didn t Dyami s cousin Crow stop by once though with Omri?

Yeah the aliens dropped by so that Omri could meet his nieces and nephews and Crow had come along too so

he could check on his cousin.

Did Kalana get along with Dyami?

Sure. I didn t mean to imply earlier that Kalana couldn t be agreeable. She was incrediblyloyal to her family. She just sometimes let her mouth get her into trouble.

In fact, Kalana was a wonderful aunt. All of her nieces and nephews adored her. She and Chay lovedto play darts and Kalana was even nice enough to let him win.

Even though K was considered a workaholic, she d drop the businesses or call off a council meeting if one of hersiblings needed a babysitter. She was often taking care of her brother s little girls since Lir and Diane oftentravelled abroad to places that just weren t safe for the girls.

K even loved Kimi, even if she didn t much care for her manners. She certainly didn t like that Kimibelieved it was okay to call her Lana. I don t care what K said, that little girl respected the hell out of her Aunt, she just wasn t very formal.

But don t think that Toren and Tristen weren t over at the Huinke house every weekend. Usually,the Huinke house was where all the kids of generation seven gathered on Saturday or Sundayafternoon.

Ravi and Tala didn t stay in the house with all those kids though. It was just to crowded and rowdy for theirtaste. So they moved into a retirement home.

Toren and I often stopped by after work to play pool. The three of us still got up to no good even thoughour old friend Ravi couldn t get around so well anymore.
