the premier Chainsaw Safety Training program in the country,

About the instructor:
Kevin Snyder of Pleasantville, PA has been a GOL instructor for over 10
years. In addition to being a GOL instructor, Kevin is also a trained
logger under the Pennsylvania Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI)
program, and is the recipient of the Forest Resources Association’s
(FRA) Appalachian Region’s 2010 Outstanding Logger award.
Prior to Kevin’s career as a GOL instructor, he was a five-time Game
of Logging Regional Competition winner and a two-time National
Game of Logging Champion.

Level1Focusesonintroducingtheparticipanttoopenfacefellingandthedevelopmentoftechniquestosafelyuseit.Topicscoveredincludepersonalprotectiveequipment,chainsawsafetyfeatures,chainsawreactiveforces,borecutting,pre-planningthefell,andunderstandinghingewoodstrength.
Level2Focusesonmaximizingchainsawperformancethroughbasicmaintenance,carburetorsetting,andfilingtechniques.Limbingandbuckingtechniquesareintroduced,springpolecuttingiscoveredandmorefellingispracticed.
Level3Focusesontechniquesforhandlingdifficulttrees.Topicscoveredincludelimbing,heightmeasurement,segmentcalculations,wedgingtechniquesandhingeplacement.Thefellingisdoneagainstthetree'snaturalleanandparticipantsalsolimbandbuckusingtechniquesdemonstratedinlevelII.
Level4Focuses on ways to maximize a harvest plan for safety and productivity. Felling is practiced at working speed using all the techniques from previous levels. This level is geared towards the “Professional Timber Harvester” user group.

StormDamagetrainingprovidessawusersanumberof“toolsforthetoolbox”tobepulledoutwhentheybestfit.Techniquescoveredinthisclassinclude;Limb-Loc,Top-Loc,Tongue&Groove,AxleCut,Axle-Loc,NotchBucking&DirectionalNotchBuckingandmore.•Classsizeislimitedto12participants.• Traininglevelsmustbetakeninorder,however,participantsarenotrequiredtotakeall4levels.• Minimumclasssizeof10participants.• Eachlevelisafullday(8hours)&heldoutside,•Classwillbecancelledifminimumisnotmet.inallweatherconditions.• Pre-registrationandpaymentisrequired. •There is a $30 fee for any bounced/returned check. •Refundswillbemadeforcancellationsreceived10dayspriortoclass.
