THEERDHA YAATHRA.

Railway Tickets Reservation:

• Reservations were made by:Mr. K.Linga Murthy and Mr.M.Dasharadhi for onward journey on 04-03-2009 by Kacheguda-Bengaluru Yeshwanthapur Express.

• For return journey on 14-03-2009 by Bengaluru-Kacheguda Express.

Day Of Journey:• All the yathris reached the station from their respective places by 19:00.• The train left on time at 19:30.

Kacheguda Station.

Arrived At Bangaluru Cantt:

In Bengaluru:

Reached Bengaluru Station at 07:00 on 05-05-2009.

Shri.K.Vidhya Sagar received us at the station.

A Twelve seat tempo was arranged by Shri.Vidhya Sagar which was with us throughout the yathra.

We all stayed at the residence of Shri.Vidyasagar in BEL Township.

First Day Of Yathra:

On 05-03-2009 after having our lunch and evening tea around 17:00 we all have gone to Malleshwaram by public transport.

Visited Kanyaka Parameshwari and other nearby temples.

Some of us made some purchases in the busy market area of Malleshwaram.

Reached back home at 21:30 had our dinner and retired for the day.

Second day of yathra: (06-03-2009)

We all got up early and left at 07:00 sharp after having tea and coffee by the tempo arranged for the yathra by Shri.Vidyasagar.

Reached Nimesha Temple close to Srirangapatanam by 09:00.

Shri.Pavan Kumar eldest son of Shri.Vidhyasagar came from Mysore and joined us.

We all had darshan of Nimesha Devi Temple located right on the bank of river Kaveri.

The panoramic view of the nature and the beautiful temple of Nimesha Mataji has enthralled us.

Most of us made purchase of good quantity of Tamarind a peculiar sweet variety only available at Shriranagapatnam and some fresh vegetables.

Shri.Pavan Kumar left straight to Mysore to make arrangements for our dinner.

Visited Ranganadha Swamy Temple at Shrirangapatnam a marvellous shrine of Karnataka.

Visited Tippu Sulthan’s fort-palace and the place where his body was found.

Visited the famous St.Thomas Church in Mysore at 13:00.

Had our lunch in a nearby restaurant close to church at 14:00.

Then visited the following:a) Mysore Palace.b) Chamundadevi Temple(Private Temple Of Mysore

Maharaja’s Vodias).c) H.H.Ganapathi Sachidananda Swamy Ashram. Reached Shri.Pavan Kumar’s residence at 19:00 had

our dinner at 21:30. Some of us stayed with Shri.Pavan and others with

Shri.R.S.Rao co Brother-in-law , a retired town planning officer of Mysore municipal cooperation.

Third Day: (07-03-2009)

Left for Shravanabelagola at 08:00 sharp after having our tea and coffee.

Enroute some of us paid respects in a darga. Reached Shravanbelagola around 10:30. Except Shri.Dasharadhi Garu and

Smt.K.Seethamahalakshmi have climbed the hill and paid respects,performed poojas to Bahubali Mahaveer.

The statue of Mahubali is a monolithic 32feet high Statue the only of its kind in India.

We took several individual pics and came down by 13:30 and had our lunch.

Left Shravanabelagola around 15:30.Enroute visited certain other important

Jain temples.Reached Horanadu at 19:00 settled

down in the devasthanam chowltry the rooms were clean,neat and cozy.

Had our dinner in the devasthanam langar and retired for the day at 21:30.

Forth Day:(08-03-2009)

Visited the famous Annapurnadevi Temple Horanadu performed poojas.

As custom prevails we also donated rice symbolically by paying money for the quantity of rice donated.

Made purchases of honey,cashew nuts,spices,nut power etc.,

Had our breakfast in the hotel close to temple and left for Shringeri around 11:00.

Enroute visited the temples of Shiva and Vishnu. Some of us purchased coffee and tea powders the

specialities of Niligiri and Chickmagulur.

Reached Shringeri at 13:00 had our lunch in devasthanam langar and settled in the devasthanam chowltry.

Needless to say the rooms were highly comfortable.

In the evening we visited Sharadamba Temple and enjoyed the quite flow of the river Kaveri.

The scenic beauty of Western Ghats left a permanent memory in our minds and more particularly the blue colours fishes of various sizes in the River Kaveri.

Stay at Shringeri is by itself a divine experience coupled with the spiritual vibrations.

Fifth Day: (09-03-2009)

Had breakfast at 08:30 and left for udipi. Enroute visited Narasimha Swamy(Venkataramana)

Temple at Mulki and some other small temples. Reached udipi at 13:30 and had our lunch. Visited udipi krishna mandir-a very famous temple

of karnataka visited by lacks of pilgrims from various parts of the country.

The lord krishna here is in the form of Bal Nandagopal and can be seen only through a gavaksha(window).

The idol of the lord is so beautiful it leaves hypnotic spell on the divotis.

As customary Shri.Dasharadhi Garu and Sri.Vidyasagar Garu offered sugar of the weight of their grand children to lord krishna.

Visited other temples in the precessions of the temple complex.

Had our evening tea and left for Murdeshwar at 19:00

Reached Murdeshwar aroung 22:00 and settled down in a sea shore shine lodging.

The lodge is very neat and clean having balconies facing the sea.

Retired at 23:00 after having the dinner.

Sixth day: (10-03-2009) Got up at 06:30 had tea and all of us gone for Samudra

Snan. Finished the Snan and fresh water bath by 10:00. All of us gone to Murdeshwar Vigraha located on a small

hillock close to the sea shore. The lord Shankara’s vigraha in Dhyanamudra is of 40feet

high concrete structure put up on a 12feet high pedestal. Beneath the vigraha there are two halls one a prayer hall

which can accommodate around 500people and in the other part the entire gokarna story in depicted with appropriated light and sound effect.

The marvellous huge shankara’s idol which is visible for several kms is really a blend of spirituality,mythology and technology.

Left for gokaran at 12:30 noon reached gokaran at 13:30.

Had our lunch in a good restuarant. Visited gokaran temple more particularly the

Ganapathi temple and other temples within the complex.

Gokaran temple is the largest temple in south Canara. The temples which were built in wood are really

marvellous and the finest carvings in the wood are really breath taking.

Had our snacks and tea and left for Honawar around 17:00.

There was a breakdown due to technical reasons in our vehicle we were forced to stay in a highway Hotel close to Honawar.

We settled down in the hotel had our dinner at 21:30 and retired for the day.

Seventh Day: (11-08-2009)

We spent the morning by having walk on the highway.

Our vehicle was repaired by 12:30 noon.We all had our lunch by 13:30 and left

for Jog Falls.Reached Jog falls around 15:30.We spent nearly two hours enjoying the

extremely beautiful Jog falls a most important waterfalls in India.

We took several photographs left around 17:30 for bangalore.

Enroute at Siva Ganga at 21:00 we all enjoyed the south kanar speciality-the set dosa consisting of three pieces of medium sized thick dosas served with plenty of coconut chuttney and sambar.

Reached bangalore at 01:30 (12-08-2009).

Eight day: (12-03-2009)

Took complete rest.In the evening we visited:a) Basavan Templeb) Iskcon temple and c) Others Reached back home at 22:00. And retired for the day.

Ninth day: (13-03-2009)

In the evening some of us went to Malleshwaram by public transport made good shopping and came back by 21:30.

Tenth day: (14-03-2009)

Boarded Begaluru Kacheguda Express at 19:30 and reached Hyderabad at 07:00 the next day i;e 15-03-2009 carrying with us unforgettable memories of the yathra.

Needless to mention we spent hardly Rs 3500 railway fares for our entire yathra.
