What we heard after talking with them was beyond anything we could have imagined!
The Journey We are headed back into missions with YWAM! Youth With A Mission or YWAM is a nondenominational Christian missions organization purposed to know God and to make Him known. As many of you know, Heather and I were missionaries several years ago with Elim Fellowship as church planters in Niger, Africa. From the age of 17 going into YWAM, I (Dave) had a passion for missions and worship. When we went to Niger, God was fulfilling part of those passions. After 3 years of being on the field, God led us back to the US. While not fully understanding why, we trusted that He had a plan. Seven years ago I had the opportunity to pursue a career in music production and learn from a high level mentor. In that time, I have had the privilege of working with many Christian and secular bands and artists in developing their sound. From a technical and musical standpoint, I am a Music Producer, Mixing Engineer, Mastering Engineer, Audio Recording Engineer, and Session Guitarist. I also have been a bandleader for artists and conferences responsible for arranging and making sure the band is ready. Last August Heather and I felt God ask us to step out and purchase the equipment necessary for me to run my own studio. It was a real faith step to do so, knowing the market was very small here in Idaho. In January, while on our 15th anniversary, the Lord spoke to Heather and I about selling our house and positioning ourselves for change that He was going to bring. We had just invested in equipment and I was producing a few artists, and now God was asking us to sell our house! With God’s grace, we got the house ready, staged it, put it up for sale and moved in with Heather’s parents. By the third day we had sold our house. While we were moving out of our house and into Heather’s parents house, out of nowhere God spoke to me about music production at the YWAM base in Kona, Hawaii. I had no clue as to what was happening there, and if there was a need for such a thing.

Connecting
Not only is YWAM looking and praying for the right people to come and serve in the area of music but David Cunningham, the son of YWAM’s founders, has started an organization called TFI (The Film Institute) which deals with all things multimedia right there on the Kona YWAM base. He is a respected film director who has now built one of three massive buildings to facilitate training and the production of film, video, music, grassroots news, concerts, theatrics and much, much more to culturally and relevantly reach the ends of the earth with the gospel! Our society and much of the world is consumed by multimedia. Communicating through multimedia is critical for sharing the Gospel in today’s world. YWAM Kona is an international hub to churches, Christian organizations and individuals for cutting edge training and equipping to go forth in the world and effect change. The University of the Nations or UofN was also started at the Kona base in 1978. It offers spiritual, intellectual, cultural and professional training to reach all levels of society with the gospel. David and his staff have been praying for the right professionals to come and serve in this arena of high-tech, cutting edge ministry. It is still in the pioneering stage, especially the music side of things. My desire has been to build something that would touch the world through the production of music and to train others in the art of audio engineering and music production. When David Cunningham and I talked, he and the other staff were very excited to see how God was putting all of us together. While I was talking with David Cunningham, his wife Judy called Heather and expressed the need for having an English and history teacher for the Christian school there on the base in Kona. The school’s vision and purpose is to train teachers to reach the nations, and provide mobile and modular curriculum to be utilized around the world through the use of latest technology. What is so amazing is how God puts it all together; Heather has been teaching English and history at a homeschool co-op at our church! Needless to say, she is thrilled to be one of the teachers next year on the base! We are so excited to be doing missions together again in each of our passions! After all that has transpired, Heather and I are beginning to understand what God has been up to all these years; unique training for His unique purpose.
Hear our heart
We have been sharing all this with you so that you might hear the heart and call of God in our lives. We wish we could write in more detail the incredible faithfulness of God, but there’s just too much to write. This is a long-term commitment, at least two years. There is much to be accomplished and we desire to make an impact on our world!
Our Faith Challenges We have to be in Hawaii by August 6 because of Heather’s teaching preparation, and for the kid’s school as well. If your heart has been stirred by our story, please pray and ask the Lord if He would have you partner with us in financial and/or prayer support. Here are our needs:
