W H A T I S S U S H I ?Many people think sushi means “raw fish” but it actually means “seasoned rice”. Sushi is a marriage of vinegared rice to other ingredients including chicken, beef, fish and vegetables.

The takeaway & Quick Service Restaurant “QSR” food market is currently a massive $14.2 BILLION business in Australia. This market is set to grow even bigger to $15.5 BILLION by 2015.

With a long term trend towards healthier food, sushi is now a significant part of this market & continues to grow. In cities, customer’s sushi tastes are becoming more sophisticated & our menu is ever changing to these tastes. In regional centres we are seeing a massive increase in popularity in sushi & this can be demonstrated by the enormous success of our new stores in Toowoomba, Albury, Whyalla, Bundaberg, Tamworth, Armidale and Bathurst.

We are also witnessing the emergence of a gap in the market for delivering sushi products into offices, schools, hospitals & universities. We envisage this market to continue to grow & to become a $0.25 MILLION PER YEAR business for some of our stores. To assist in greater understanding of the sushi market we commissioned independent research in 2010 (quantitative & focus groups within Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne). A Go Sushi franchise requires an investment from $250,000 depending on site selection, store size & location.

This initial investment covers the following:

◼ Franchise fee for the brand, systems & support

◼ Store location & lease negotiation

To maintain the Go Sushi support, system & structure, Franchise Partners are required to pay the following monthly support fees: F R A N C H I S E S E R V I C E F E E

The Franchise Service Fee covers the costs of administering & managing the Go Sushi franchise, and is payment for the continued use of the Go Sushi trademark, design, manual, system & recipes.

The franchise service fee is 6% of turnover, plus GST. M A R K E T I N G F U N D C O N T R I B U T I O N

The Marketing Fund Contribution is accumulated within a group-marketing fund, & used on advertising & marketing costs to promote the brand & products, as a whole.

The marketing fund contribution consists of a $5,000 annual fee ($7,500 for Go Sushi/Kick Stores) plus 4% of turnover, plus GST.

As rent is a fixed cost, and Cost of Goods is a percentage of turnover (eg.30%) the key in significantly increasing profit is the relationship between turnover and staff costs.
