The Pilot GeoServer
ESA has configured a pilot server with interfaces to available GEO data to facilitate simple, centralised access to the data products of preoperational GMES services. The pilot server is available free of charge to any GMES Masters participants interested in infusing their ideas with real data for testing and optimisation purposes. The server has made it possible to call up data in the categories of air, land and water on mobile devices. Information on further servers containing geo-data is also provided. Atmospheric data offers, for example, insights into ozone levels in the air, while the land data can include settlement or agriculture maps. The information on water quality, meanwhile, contains data on chlorophyll and particle content or water temperature in specific locations, for instance. The Pilot GeoServer offers mobile access to various Earth observation data products with an OGC-conform Web Mapping Service WMS for devices such as mobile phones.
