Jersey Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year. Schwartz

baseball have enhanced the quality of our program,‖ stated Dickson. He will

work with the pitchers as well as the outfielders.

The 2011 Roadrunners look to continue

their National success and look to

win the programs seventh National

Championship. The roadrunners are

coming off one of the most successful

seasons in the programs storied history.

The 2010 Team ended the season

43-2 and won their 6th National

Championship in the programs history.

Year after year the baseball program

has been synonymous with excellence.

With six national championships (1992,

1993, 1999, 2000, 2005, 2010) under

its belt and 46 players advancing to the

ranks of professional baseball and

countless numbers advancing to four-

year programs, the tradition of winning

and succeeding has become customary

— this year should be no different.

―We are attracting high profile student

athletes who are willing to work on and

off the field to continue the proud tradi-

tion of Gloucester Baseball.‖

Head-Coach Mike Dickson holds

high expectations for the upcoming

season. ―We are extremely balanced

team that will score a lot of runs and play

excellent defense.‖ Gloucester returns

two everyday starters and four pitchers

from last years team. ―We lost a lot from

last years club but had several transfers

and a very good freshman class come in,‖

commented Dickson.

The infield will be solid throughout.

Returning Second Basemen Ronny

Tanner was an All-Region and All World

Series Performer. The roadrunners will

count on sophomores Logan Morello and

Mike Schatzman to play third base.

Freshman transfer Eric Linares, Jose Diaz

and Lang will all see time at short. ―This

is an experienced and talented group

of infielders,‖ commented Dickson.

Freshman transfers Kevin Needham,

Eric Barbierie, along with Jim Hanson,

will give us a right-handed and a left-

handed first basemen.

Outfield: This outfield group will show

a combination of power and speed. Left

field will be held by Freshman Eric Sellito

and Brandon Porter. Sellito was an All

South Jersey Performer as a Junior and

hit 20 HS homeruns. Centerfield will be

patrolled by freshman transfer Sean

Feeney and freshman Thomas Schroeder.

Right Field will be patrolled by

Sophomore John Garozzo and

Sophomore transfer Donny Haines.

Both possess very good throwing arms

and are left hand hitters.

Catching: Sophomores Matt Cuervo

and Brett Burdsall will both see action

behind the plate. Both catchers receive

and block well.

Pitching: The Roadrunners will attack

with a five-man rotation and a couple

spot starters. Freshman Andy Sullivan is

in line to lead the staff. Sophomores Matt

Spillman and transfer John Siedler should

be in the starting rotation this year.

―Sullivan, although a Freshman, has a

chance to be a very good pitcher,‖

commented Dickson. ―He may be the

leader of our staff.‖ Freshman Bob

Applegate, Wade Gies, Reno Regalgbuto

and Sophomore Osiris Garcia and

Freshman transfer Kevin Needham will

compete for the fourth starter and for

the top reliever. in the bullpen. Franklin

Cruz and Kevin Walsh could emerge as

the closers.

The 2,400 square-foot Gloucester County College

Fitness and Wellness Center opened in 1996 thorough

funding provided by the College and the generosity

of the GCC Foundation Grants Program. The Center

consists of 13 pieces of Cybex freestanding weight

equipment, over 20 pieces of cardiovascular

equipment, a separate free-weight room, as well as a Universal Cross-line

Training Room. The complex is conveniently located near all of GCC‘s

practice fields and is open in the morning, afternoon and evening to provide

student-athletes, students, faculty, and staff every opportunity for a flexible

workout schedule. Athletic teams also reserve the Fitness Center at

2:30 each day to work on team related strength and conditioning programs.

Ronald H. Case has presided over a run of unprecedented success since becoming

Gloucester County College's Director of Athletics in 1991. During his tenure, the

Roadrunners have achieved top 3 national finishes on a total of thirty-three occasions.

The Roadrunners have won thirteen NJCAA Division III National Championships:

Wrestling(1996, 1998,1999, 2000, 2002, and 2007), Baseball (1992, 1993, 1999, 2000,

2005 and 2010), Men's Basketball (1994) and Men's Cross Country (1995) and Men‘s

Tennis (2010). Second place national finishes have been earned in Women's Cross

Country (1994, 1995, 1997), Men‘s Cross Country (1992, 1993, 1994), Wrestling (2001), Baseball (2002 &

2003, 2006, 2008) and Men's Basketball (1996). Third place national finishes were earned in Baseball (1995,

1998,2001, & 2004), Men's Basketball (1997), Women's Tennis (1997 & 2000), Men's Soccer (1995), and

Women's Cross Country (1996).

In 2010, Gloucester County College Athletic program was recognized as the top Division III Junior College

Athletic program in the Country. A true accomplishment for an overall successful athletic department. The

Gloucester County College Athletic Program was recognized as the top community college program in the

state of New Jersey during the 1997-98 school year, when it was awarded the inaugural CAANJ Cup which is

presented by the Collegiate Athletic Administrators of New Jersey and the New Jersey Sports and Exposition

Authority.

The Roadrunners continued this tradition by winning the CAANJ Cup in 1998-99, 1999-2000, 2001-02,

2005-06 2006-07and 2007-08, 2008-2009, 2009-2010. Furthermore, in 2009 Ron Case was inducted into the

Gloucester County Sports Hall of Fame.

A strong supporter of women's athletics and gender equity, Case has been instrumental in the development

of intercollegiate programs in women's soccer and softball (1994-95) and the re-birth of women's basketball

during the 1998-99 school year. Under Case's guidance, the women's tennis program has prospered and the

women's cross country and track & field programs have risen to national prominence.

Gloucester County College's facilities have undergone a major face-lift during Case's tenure. A new fitness/

wellness center, gymnasium and locker room renovations, installation of an outdoor irrigation system, and

major improvements to all outdoor playing fields are all part of the improvement in athletic facilities that have

occurred at the college under Case's supervision.

In 1998, Ron Case was elected to a four-year term as a member of the National Association of Collegiate

Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Executive Committee. He received NACDA's National Athletic Director of

the Year Award for the Northeast Region in 2003. Case is a Past-President of the National Alliance of Two-

Year College Athletic Administrators, has served as a member of NATYCAA's Executive Committee since

1993 and received that organization's highest award, the L. William Miller Award in 2002. Case also served as

the President of the Collegiate Athletic Administrators of New Jersey during the 2000-01 school year and has

served on the CAANJ Executive Committee since 1995.

Case served as the Garden State Athletic Conference President from 1996-98 and as the GSAC's secretary

from 1994-96. He was the NJCAA Region XIX Wrestling Chair 1992-2003 and Baseball Chair from 1994-2003.

In 2003 Ron Case became the Region XIX Women's Director for all Women's Sports.

Prior to coming to GCC, Case was the Women's Head Soccer and Softball Coach at Colgate University from

1987-91. From 1979-87 he served as the Men's Head Soccer and Basketball Coach and Athletic Director at Penn

State University's Delaware County Campus. Case received his Master's Degree in Physical Education from the

State University of New York at Cortland in 1979. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Cortland in 1974.

Ron Case, Athletic Director

Mr. Rowan joined the GCC staff full-time in the fall of 2008 as the Assistant

Director of Athletics. Prior to joining the GCC full-time staff he spent the last

4 seasons as the men‘s tennis coach while teaching history and coaching the

Varsity boys‘ basketball team at Triton Regional High School in Runnemede, NJ.

Mr. Rowan also enjoyed stints as the Varsity boys‘ tennis coach and assistant

football coach while at Triton RHS.

Mr. Rowan earned his associates degree from Gloucester County College in the spring of 1997

before moving on to Rutgers University-Camden. While at GCC, Mr. Rowan was a member of

both the men‘s basketball team and the men‘s tennis team. He continued his basketball career

at Rutgers-Camden after finishing at GCC. In 2005, Mr. Rowan earned his Master‘s Degree in

Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix.

Also in 2005, Mr. Rowan was hired to upgrade the men‘s tennis program here at GCC as the

new tennis courts were opened. Since 2005, the team has won its first Region XIX Championship

(2007) and compiled the best single season record in school history, a 13-3 mark in 2008. He has

also been named NJCAA Region XIX Coach of the Year three times ( 08, 09, 10). In 2010, the

men‘s tennis team won their first team National Championship in program history. For his effort

he was names Max Grubbs 2010 National Coach of the Year

Mr. Rowan will continue to monitor the academic progress system for student athletes that is

in place for all student athletes at GCC. The academic progress monitoring system enables the

GCC staff to work closer with the student athletes and assist and direct them with their

academic needs.

Mr. Rowan is a native of southern New Jersey. He graduated from Gateway Regional High School

in 1994 and currently resides in Blackwood, NJ with his wife and two daughters.

Brian Rowan, Assistant Athletic Director

Lynn Kindrachuk, Assistant to AD

Lynn Kindrachuk is in her 10th year as the jack of all trades in the

Gloucester Athletic Department. Her duties include fitness center

management, adjunct instructor, and day to day operations of the

department.

Lynn plays a key role in the daily lives of the baseball players here at

Gloucester. Her enthusiasm for the promotion of health and wellness along with the willingness

to mentor individual players and has enhanced the lives of each and every player.

The concept of a community

college in Gloucester County

dates back to 1965 when the

county electorate approved

referendum to establish a community college. Some 600 charter students

were the first to enroll at GCC in September, 1968, attending classes at

Deptford High School and Monongahela Junior High School. In February,

1970, ground was broken for the first buildings on the new campus.

That May, GCC held its first graduation for 180 men and women. Today,

Gloucester County College offers more than 70 associate degree programs

and certificates and serves nearly 5,000 credit students. The Lifelong Learning

division provides non-credit, continuing education and training programs to

an additional 5,000 area residents. GCC's cutting-edge academic programs are

geared toward current market demands.

Network Management and E-Commerce prepare students for immediate

employment or transfer. Paralegal and Ford ASSET students complete

internships and graduate ready to excel in the workforce. The Teachers 2000

cohorts of education majors are getting ready to meet the state's shortage of

teachers in the coming decade. A Quality faculty is key to the success of

GCC's programs. They are experts in their fields, enthusiastic about sharing

their knowledge and know-how. In addition, services for students are second

to none. financial aid, scholarships, career assistance and transfer counseling

enrich every student's experience.

Growth of the Gloucester County College campus has kept pace with

program and service enhancements. In autumn 1970, students began attending

classes in the Instructional Center, the first building completed on campus.

The College Center, Physical Education Center and Fine Arts Center opened

in 1971. In 1988, GCC dedicated the Library and Student Services Center.

In 1993, the College constructed the Early Childhood Education Center

and the Nursing, Allied Health and Technology Center. Also included in the

expansion program was an addition to the Physical Education Center housing

the Gloucester County Police Academy, Fitness Center and enhanced physical

education programs. In 1997, GCC dedicated the Learning Resource Center.

This $3 million project includes the ground-level Barnes & Noble College

Store, an interactive TV classroom, a large academic services lab with

60 computers and two classrooms. An $8.1 million expansion program began

in 2001, including construction of Scott Hall, a $6.5 million Science &

Technology Center housing chemistry and biology facilities and state-of-the-

art computer labs and classrooms. A separate project involved a $1 million

conversion of the concrete Grand Plaza into a gently sloping green area, with

walkways linking most major campus buildings.

Gloucester County College

Under the direction of fifth-year head coach Mike Dickson, Gloucester closed

the season 43-2. A season that at one point had the Roadrunners winning

37 consecutive games for Dickson. The team was ranked number #1 in the

country for several weeks and was group that was very talented and worked

extremely well together.

World Series

Gloucester County once again excelled on the National level. The

Roadrunners finished the season Ranked Number One in the nation. It was

the 6th National Championship in program history!

Moving On

The Roadrunner tradition of moving student athletes onto four-year colleges:

Mike Ney — Old Dominion Alexi Colon — Tusculum

Jim Best — George Washington JJ Williams — UNC Pembrook

Dave Prager — Rowan University Edwin Frias — NJCU

Mark Malec — Savannah College Matt Smith — Neumann

Brandon Kenish — Neumann

All American

Centerfielder Alexi Colon was Named National Player of the Year.

It marked the third player in GCC History to be given that award.

Right Hand Pitchers Nick Alloway(Gateway) and Matt Smith (Williamstown)

were named second team All-Americans.

Coach Dickson now has nine players in

5 years that have been named All-

Americans. Nick Alloway was select-

ed in the 35th round (Twins) of the

first year MLB Draft.

Garden State Athletic

Conference
