Coral Bleaching

• Coral bleaching refers to the loss of color of corals due to stress-induced expulsion of symbiotic unicellular algae.

Cause of Coral Bleaching

• Temperature• Solar Irradiance• Sub aerial Exposure• Sedimentation• Fresh Water Dilution• Inorganic Nutrients• Xenobiotics• Epizootics schedule

How does Coral Bleaching affect the environment?

• Destroys the habitat of marine organisms• Results in the migration of organisms to other areas

where they may cause adverse competition for food and a larger scale the slow growth of some populations

• Destruction of food chains and webs• Erosion of coastlines and beaches when they fail to

brake the surge of waves
