Our main platform is the website – global, together with Lingua, Advocacy and other projects.

This is the main source of our content and info on contributors.

We have recently looked at Twitter presence...

We need to gain insights and look at other presences using available feedback...

During conversations in Cairo we have noticed that we do not post about Global Voices on our private venues as much as we could.•Do we want to be associated with GV?•Do we want our readers to know about our work for GV? About GV message in general?•Do we want to recruit our friends to help us out?•Do we want to let others know about GV community?•Or do we prefer to keep the two separate?

This depends on each of us, but it would be good to see what the majority thinks...there is a potential in meme’s, cross postings and other blogger activities outside of GV platforms.

Global Voices is engaging with global and local communities using different media via several platforms. What are we missing out?

•FriendFeed is recently quite a popular network.•Digg and other social bookmarking sites.•12 seconds is perfect for networking, but can we utilise it?•Qik is handy – can we use it while at events?•Did we think about regional sites, tools, networks? •When we find a new platform, do we think of GV? Should we? Whom to contact with it?

•Who will manage those accounts? Are there tools that can help us?

Page 9: Global Voices Online - (social media) strategy- proposal
Page 10: Global Voices Online - (social media) strategy- proposal

GV Advocacy’s site links to few presences.•Can we do the same for other sites?•Are those presences updated?•Do all GVers know what Advocacy is currently working on?•How can we share info internally to be able to pass it on to all our readers?•How can other Gvers contribute to Advocacy?

Page 11: Global Voices Online - (social media) strategy- proposal

GV Rising Voices might need the same questions...

Also, can we use their feeds on other sites? (Flickr, videos, and current updates?)

Page 12: Global Voices Online - (social media) strategy- proposal

GV Lingua has so many sites...•can we learn from each other? •Do we all have links to other presences, photos, additional info, like for instance Lingua FR? •What do others use? •Do we have a person in charge of this information exchange? Can we brief new teams? •How do we link to other Lingua sites? •How do we look for new translators via our site and/or other presences?•Do we look for sponsorship locally?

•Do we all know the GV Manifesto?•Do we all know GV beginnings? •What is the GV message(s)?•What does GV mean for each of us? Do we talk about it? Where and how? Can our readers see it?•What do we mean for GV? Is GV using our skills? Or we happy to contribute more than content to the sites?•What can GV give to the global audiences, social media, media, studies?•What can GV contribute to local communities?

•Where do we see GV in 10 years time?

Page 15: Global Voices Online - (social media) strategy- proposal

Each and one of us had a reason to join GV...

•What was it? How did it all start?•How did it change on the way?•How did it change us? •Did it affect our lives? How?

•Do we talk about it?

•Is there a Global Voices lifestyle?

•If so, how would you describe it?

Page 16: Global Voices Online - (social media) strategy- proposal

While working for Global Voices we all learn...

•What did you learn?

•Did other GVers affect your life?•Did work for GV have impact on your self-development?•As a member of GV community, do you feel the need to do more? •Are you contempt with what you are achieving at and via Global Voices?

•Do you let others know about it?

•Do you ask GV questions if you seek answers?

Page 17: Global Voices Online - (social media) strategy- proposal

Asking questions is good...

As a community we have a great deal of common knowledge. Each of us also has specific skills that we can very often offer for the common cause.

•Do we actually live with the opportunity?•Could be build something together?•Can we serve other communities, media, projects with our both specific and common expertise?

•How?

Page 18: Global Voices Online - (social media) strategy- proposal
Page 19: Global Voices Online - (social media) strategy- proposal

•Is our message strong in many social media presences? Do we network with other projects?•Do we share our expertise with social media specialists?•Do we pass it on to the beginners?

•Are we present in press, radio, tv? If so, do we share it internally? Do we push for more? Do we have specific goals? Do we all strive to achieve press coverage or choose assigned specialists? Do we mention GV whenever possible?

•Do we want to be seen by mainstream media?

•Do we want to work closely with them? How?

Page 20: Global Voices Online - (social media) strategy- proposal

•What projects do we support currently? Do we share it with internally to generate more discussion around those?

•Do we learn from our experience with other projects? How? Do we document it? Where?

•What is the scope of our interest currently? What do we want to get involved with? Are we all clear on that?

Page 21: Global Voices Online - (social media) strategy- proposal

We have GV Summit. What else?

•How do we prepare our events? •How do we cover the events on-line?•How do we cover them off-line?•How do we document them on GV?•Do we blog about GV events on our own sites?•Do we talk about those events to our readers, friends?

•Do we have a place where we store a timeline of past events as reference?

Page 22: Global Voices Online - (social media) strategy- proposal

Each of us takes part in events.

•Do we talk about GV? •Do we encourage people to contact GV for support, expertise? •Do we use GV as reference, source?•Do we use GV hashtag while covering the event on-line? •Do we upload photos, videos from the event on GV presences, not only our own accounts? Do we know how to do it and where we can do so?

•Do we have assets to support our presence (t-shirt, mug, sticker on a laptop, etc). Can we make our own?

Page 23: Global Voices Online - (social media) strategy- proposal

Global Voices is a part of our daily routine.

•Do we talk about it?•Does our family know about it?•Does our manager know we write for GV? Are they supportive to the idea?•Do your friends talk about it?

•Do you mention GV when relevant in your daily conversations?

Points to consider:

•Most of those questions need answers based on common agreement, still respecting the fact some of us will not want to follow the guidelines.•Most of the action points need assigned passionate person to ensure coherent discussion, common agreement on direction and the follow up. •Most of those points need revising time to time;)
