glimmermagChristmas is over and the New Year has finally begun.

Like every other year, we always try to think of some New Years resolutions. But just like every other year,

they usually fail. Last year was the first year I took control and decided that my resultotion wouldn’t fail this time. I started going to the gym. It was hard and challenging and I felt like giving up for that first month. But once I completed that month, I never felt so good. I had finally accomplished something without giving up - I am still going to the gym a few times a week, every week and I’ve never felt as happy as I do now. I can finally feel proud of myself, of accomplishing something different in my life.

I’m telling you this story, not to try get you to go the gym, I am telling you this story, for you to see that not all resolutions are useless. You must be willing to keep going with whatever you decide to change in your life. Don’t give up, keep fighting, and trust me, you will feel so proud of yourself when you finish what you’ve started.

Now back to Glimmer Issue 3. Issue 3 is all about new and exciting things. We have all the Valentines gift guides you need for your all important man; we have makeup tutorials; nail step by steps, all themed around Valentines Day and St. Patricks Day.

For those of you who would like to give fitness a try, try out my very own Transform Your Body program, - it will help keep you toned and slim this New Year.

@trending NEW Vidal Sassoon Salonist™: Elevating Home Hair Colour

Vidal Sassoon presents NEW Vidal Sassoon Salonist™ - a revolutionary at-home hair colour system that is inspired by Sassoon’s colour artistry and gives women the tools and techniques that will elevate their home hair colour to an art form. By incorporating an exclusive two-step technique that treats roots and lengths separately, women can now master the art of rich colour with depth and tones.Speaking with women all over the world, we found that many who colour their hair at home are dis-satisfied with their current results and often describe the outcome as ‘flat’ or ‘blocky’ with ‘off-tone brassy results.’ This is made worse over time by applying the same colour formula all over the hair. Despite less than a third of women in the US not being fully satisfied with their current home hair colour, they keep purchasing the same products because they believe there’s no alternative solution. Those days are now over, thanks to NEW Vidal Sassoon Salonist™.

Teen-skinactives™ was specifically created and formu-lated as a unique product range to work with younger teenage skins that often need to have that extra special attention to help improve the skins overall condition and treat those everyday teen skin issues such as acne/breakouts/oily shine – as well as dry/dehydrated skin.

Date Night

Step 1: Firstly, prep your skin by cleansing and toning and applying a hydrating moisturiser. Allow the moisturiser to sink into the skin for 20 minutes and then apply your favourite primer. Afterwards apply a foundation of your choice with a Kabuki Style foundation brush. This will buff the product into the skin and create a flawless base. I used Mac’s Studio Fix Foundation and Blank Canvas Cosmetics F22 HD Dome Face Brush to complete this look. I also filled in my eyebrows at this stage with Anastasia Beverly Hills DipBrow Pomade in the shade Dark Brown.

Step 2: Apply a concealer that is one or two shades lighter than your skintone in a V shape un-

der your eyes, in between your eyebrows, down the centre of your nose and on your cupid bones

and blend well with a pointed foundation brush such as the Blank Canvas Foundation F23 and set

with an illuminating product such as the Hour-glass Ambient Lighting powders. Applying a light-er shade will create a beautiful highlighted look to the skin and will brighten your under-eye area as

well as making your eyes appear more awake.

16 NO.3 (1/2015)

17NO.3 (2/2015)

Date Night

Step 3: Apply a cream blush to the apples of your cheeks and blend up towards your temple. This will add some colour to the cheeks and make you look like you are glowing from within. My cream blush of choice is Maxfactor’s Miracle Touch Cream Blush in Soft Pink as it gives a beautiful finish to the skin and lasts all day long. I apply this with my ring finger as I like the way this melts the product, allowing it to be buffed well into the skin to create a very natural appearance.

Step 4: Using a large powder brush, set your foundation with your favourite powder. My all

time favourite powder is Mac’s Studio Fix Powder Foundation. This adds some extra coverage to the

skin too but still looks flawless and very natural. I prefer to press the powder into the skin instead

of buffing it as this method will not move the foundation and blush which you have just applied.

Step 5: With a matte bronzer or contour powder and your favourite contour brush (mine would have to be the Andie by Nima Brush) apply the bronzer to the hollows of your cheeks to create dimension to the face. You can also apply the same product around your hair line on your fore-head, down onto the temples and down under your jaw to really slim down the face. The best way to remember where to apply contouring is to think of the number 3 at the side of your face and apply it to those areas.

Step 6: Apply a pink powder blush to the apples of your cheeks. I chose to use Bobbi Brown’s

Pretty Pink blush for this look. Next apply a gold-en highlighting powder to the highest points of

your cheeks to add some luminosity. My favourite highlight of all time has to be The Balm’s Mary

Loumanizer, this is just simply stunning. Once I have applied my contour, blush and highlight, I gently blend them all with a duo fibre brush so

that there are no harsh lines.

17NO.3 (2/2015)

18 NO.3 (1/2015)

Step 7: Prep the eyes for shadow with an eye-shadow primer to ensure your shadows last all day long. With a large blending brush apply a generous amount of a brownish lavender shad-ow into your eye socket and blend really well. This will act as a transition shade and will ensure your eye makeup has no harsh lines and looks very pretty and natural. To create this look, I used Inglot’s 6SS Blending brush and Makeup Geek’s shadow in the shade Unexpected. Apply the same shade under the eye with a pencil brush.

Step 8: Next apply a cream shadow with some shimmer in a similar shade to the eye lids and

blend it with your fingers ensuring there are no harsh lines between this and the transition shade

we applied earlier. Be sure to only apply this on the lids and do not blend up into the crease. I chose to use the By Terry Ombre Blackstar in

Misty Rock. This is an expensive product but it is by far the best I have tried and it lasts all day with-

out creasing. Apply this under the eye also.

Step 9: With your ring finger press a small amount of a light purple shadow in the centre of your eye lid. This will simply add another dimension to your eyeshadow . Next with a flat shader brush (Blankcanvas E44) use a black eyeshadow to define the lash line and then in the outer corners blend with a small pencil brush. This is good for people who are not great with liquid liners as it is easy to achieve and looks great. Then apply a small amount of brown shadow in the outer V of the eye to add more dimension. Apply the black shade under your eye and blend well.

Step 10: Add some mascara and false lashes for added drama. I also added Inglot’s gel liner in

shade 90 (brown) to the water line to give the eye more depth. My favourite mascara is Lancome’s Grandiose Mascara and my lashes of choice are the Amazing Shine lashes in 747 S. I also applied some of the highlighter mentioned previously to

the inner corner of my eye and under my brow bone to really open up the eyes.

18 NO.3 (1/2015)

19NO.3 (2/2015)

Step 11: First apply a small amount of lipbalm to your lips to ensure they are nice and moisturised so your lipstick looks beautiful. Line your lips with a neutral pink lipliner. I used Rimmel’s Eastend Snob here. Next apply a nudish pink lipstick to your lips. My favourite shade is Mac’s Angel Lip-stick. I also added a small amount of pink lipgloss only in the centre of my lips as this will make your lips look like they have extra volume and will look kissably soft.

And your look is complete. This is a very straight forward and simple makeup look that anyone can achieve and it will also suit most eye

colours and skintones. I hope you like it and I am sure your date will be very happy to see you wearing this look as it is very sultry but yet natural looking so you don’t look like you are wearing too much makeup either.

Thank you for reading and I hope you found this helpful.

20 NO.3 (1/2015)

2015 marks 80 years since Mr. Max Factor Junior opened the doors of his Hollywood make-up studio, transforming the looks of Hollywood’s elite. His most iconic client of all? Norma Jeane. Norma Jeane entered his Blonde Room in the late 1940s as a brunette, and thanks to Mr. Max Fac-tor emerged complete with platinum blonde hair, a beauty look fit for Mari-lyn Monroe. Max Factor make-up was then used to create an icon in Marilyn Monroe.

Today, as the world returns to normality after the season of glitz and glamour,

Max Fac-tor announces Marilyn Mon-

roe as its global glamour ambassador. This exciting partnership is set to inspire women around the globe to undergo their own personal glamour transfor-mation, one that they never imagined possible, at a time of year when they’re more open than ever to new possibili-ties.

Max Factor Global Creative Design Director, Pat McGrath comments on the signing, “Marilyn made the sultry red lip, creamy skin and dramatically lined eyes the most famous beauty look of the 1940’s and it’s a look that continues to dominate the beauty and fashion industry. It is the ultimate look that de-

fines glamour – nothing else compares. Ruby Tuesday, inspired by one of Mari-lyn’s favourite Max Factor lipsticks, is still my go-to red today for an instant shot of glamour, and continues to be one of the most popular shades for both make-up artists and real women. It’s the ultimate glamorous red.”

“Through expert diagnosis and make-up artistry, Norma Jeane’s facial features were pulled out and dramatized through make-up. Her skin was creamy and flaw-less, the shape of her eyes was elongated through clever use of eyeliner and her lips were accentuated with a sultry red shade, becoming the key focal point of the entire look. Through make-up artistry and the right products, Max Factor helps women today identify their best features so they can undergo their own glamour transformation.”

“Marilyn Monroe is the ultimate glamour icon and this pairing is a natural fit,” said Nick Woodhouse, President and CMO of Authentic Brands Group.”We are thrilled to bring Marilyn and Max Factor together again in this exciting partnership.”

Marilyn Monroe famously said, “I used to think as I looked out on the Hollywood night, ‘There must be thousands of girls sitting alone like me dreaming of being a movie star. But I’m not going to worry about them. I’m dreaming the hardest.” With help from Mr. Max Factor, who gave her the ultimate glamorous transforma-tion from Norma Jeane to the stunning Marilyn Monroe, nothing could hold her back from fulfilling her dreams.

Marilyn mirrors much of what inspires Max Factor and its global network of the world’s most successful make-up artists. She won the hearts of millions the world over and continues to inspire women today. She believed in glamour. She is a true glamour icon.

Welcome to #GlamJanJanuary is the time of year when women are re-imagining themselves, are open to new possibilities and are embracing change into the New Year. This is when Max Factor will launch #GlamJan, a rallying call encouraging women from around the world to glam up with make-up and undergo a personal glamour transformation they never imagined pos-sible - inspired by the Norma to Marilyn story. The social media campaign led by make-up-artistry icon, Pat McGrath and famous faces including renowned fashion model, Candice Swanepoel, Max Factor is inviting women to post their most glam-orous transformation selfie using #Glam-Jan and a message about how good it feels to glam up. After all – why should January be about doing without, paring down your make-up and enduring diets, #GlamJan will open new possibilities for women, just like it did for Marilyn Monroe.

Esi Eggleston Bracey, Vice President of Max Factor Cosmetics, P&G says“Max Factor have always believed that glamour matters – and that glamour itself exists beyond make-up, it’s an approach to life that Marilyn embodied so perfectly. It’s through this attitude to life that wom-en are encouraged to be adventurous, to push themselves, and to ultimately have the confidence and passion to fulfil whatever it is that they want. With Marilyn as our new ambassador we’re preparing for an extremely exciting 2015 – a year where we will be focusing our attention on reigniting the love and playfulness of glamour with consumers through a series of social and brand campaigns that will propel Max Factor to the front of wom-en’s mind as the brand synonymous with glamour.”

The “original blonde bombshell” is set to feature as both Norma Jeane and Marilyn Monroe in new TV, print and online cam-paigns, as well as PR and social, rolling out Globally from 6th January 2015.

Sarah Flower is a nutrition-ist and author of 15 published books. She has worked ex-tensively as a journalist and editor for national press and often appears on local radio as a nutritional expert. She works as a consultant nutritionist and recipe developer for business-es, food manufacturers and PR companies, including business-es supporting children’s health and diets.

Sarah Flower – The EverydayNutritionist

It’s that time of year when everyone wants to lose weight and reinvent themselves. We are being inundated with advice on low carb, high protein, high or low fat, low

calorie and to avoid sugar. Is it any wonder we are all confused? Sarah Flower is a nutritionist and author of 15 books, but she does not agree with fad diets and quick fixes.

‘As a nutritionist, I can of course offer clients strict diet regimes but I have found that providing good food education and individual plans with achievable solutions gives far better results for long-term success. I spend time listen-ing to the clients needs, emotions and why they feel they struggle to lose weight.

I find it incredibly frustrating when clients are more concerned about weight-loss than they are about their overall health. They become fixated with the calorie count of an item rather than the nutrient content. Diets should be healthy, but sadly most fad diets are anything but. I strongly believe that opting for a balanced, home-cooked diet rich in fruit, vegeta-bles and wholegrains will not only improve your health but will also result in weight loss.

We all understand that we have

to burn off more calories than we consume in order to lose weight but calories are not equal. A portion of my nutrient rich chick-en curry is 340 calories. A 100g portion of jelly babies also has 340 calories. The jelly babies would satisfy a craving but they have no nutrient value at all. They would spike your blood sugar levels and within an hour you would be feel-ing low and still hungry. The curry on the other hand is packed with protein and antioxidant-rich vegetables. Pro-tein and fibre help to slow the digestion down. Remember, your body uses energy to break down the food, so the harder it is to break down (slower the digestion) the more calories it burns. Protein will also keep you fuller for longer. This fibre rich meal will help keep your digestive tract in tiptop order and will provide you with enough slow release energy to see you through several hours of hard work.

The most successful approach is an overall change to a healthier lifestyle without fad dieting. By educating clients on how carbohydrates, proteins and fats really affect the body, why all calories are not the same and good food choices, you get bet-ter results and a healthier client. I encourage the whole family to adopt this philosophy so everyone

benefits. Providing the key information and support for a general lifestyle change along with re-education has by far the best long-term weight loss results.People are creatures of habit, they like what they like and to tell them to avoid their cravings is difficult. When we tell someone they can’t have something, you are actually enforcing them to think about that more. Instead I like to help them opt for healthier versions of what they love. Gradually you will find their tastes change and they naturally start to opt for healthy foods without thinking about it. Once the weight starts to drop, people become more interested in all aspects of a healthy lifestyle.

I spend a lot of my time taking traditional family recipes and tweaking them to make them as healthy as possible, whilst still retaining their appeal. The entire family, including children, can benefit from making these changes. I love to bake, so I have created healthy versions of my favourite cakes. My 10 year old is my taster – if he approves I know it is a winner!

I get a real buzz from taking fami-lies who only eat processed foods to creating their own healthy home-cooked meals. Simply switching from processed to home cooked gives huge health benefits.

Paddy’s Day

Step 2: Next take a khaki green eyeshadow and apply this in the crease with a blending brush. I used Mac Cosmetics 217 Bending Brush for this. Concentrate the colour on the outer and inner corners of the eyes and leave the centre of the lid completely free from any shadow. This will create a roundness to the eye and make your smoky eye look very wearable and professional .Blend the khaki shade very well ensuring you do not go above the crease. Also be sure that there is no obvious harsh line between this shade and the peach shade you added already.

Step 3: In the centre of the eye which you left free from shadow in step 2 apply some black kohl pencil and smudge this with your finger until nicely blended. Next with your ring finger press on a dark metallic green shade over the area where you applied the black kohl and blend well with your blending brush. Again make sure that you do not bring this shadow up into the crease, instead keep this on the lid only as this will keep the eyeshadow look clean and very pretty. The eyeshad-ow shade I used is Makeup Geek’s Envy.

by Anita Coote www.chatterbox.ie

Step 1: Apply your primer, foundation and concealer as normal and set with a powder of your choice. Define your eyebrows. Next I primed my eyes with Too Faced Shadow insurance eye primer and with a large fluffy eye brush (Inglot’s 6SS) I buffed a peach eyeshadow shade into and above the crease of your eye. This will act as a transition shade and make the darker colours we are about to apply look much softer and blended. I chose to use Makeup Geek’s Peach Smoothie shadow but any peachy or pale brown shade will do.

29NO.3 (2/2015)

Paddy’s Day

Step 5: To define the eyes further add some matte black shadow along the upper lash line. Then using a small definer brush (Blankcanvas cosmetics E44) apply the dark teal shade under the eye and blend out with the khaki shade on a pencil brush. Just in the centre of the lower lash line add the metallic turquoise shade to mirror what we did on the eyelid. To add an extra pop of green to the eyes I added Inglot’s gel liner in the shade 87 to the waterline. I also added some mascara and false lashes to complete the look.

Step 4: Again with your ring finger take a metallic teal or turquoise shade and apply this to the centre of the lid. Be sure to only apply this to the centre as you want this to be the brightest area and the inner and outer corners of the eyes to be the deepest. This creates the illusion of wide and bigger eyes. The shade I chose to use is Make-up Geek’s Mermaid Shadow and I topped this off with a small amount of Sleek Cosmetics Eye Dust in the shade Jet Set for an extra pop of colour.

Step 6: To complete the skin, very lightly contour the face by applying a contour powder in the hollows of the cheeks, along the hairline on the forehead and under the jaw line. Also apply a small amount of a matte peach blush such as Mac’s Melba to the apples of the cheeks and blend towards the temples. Finish off with a light amount of highlighting powder on the highest point of the cheeks. Blend all very well with a duo fibre brush. Do not apply too much product at this point as you want the skin to be natural as the eyes are so dark. I also add-ed some highlight to the inner corner of the eyes

Make up

30 NO.3 (1/2015)

Step 8: Enjoy your new Paddy’s day smokey eye. This look is really concentrated around the eyes. When creating a smoky eye it is important to keep the emphasis on the eyes by playing down other areas of the face. Also a clear complexion and natural healthy looking skin will make a very colourful and dark eyes very wearable and pretty.

You can use this technique to create any colour smoky eye you want. Try it with your favour-ite purple shades or even some neutral brown shades for a daytime look. The key to remember is to blend, blend, blend and the rest is easy.I hope you enjoyed this look and enjoy recreat-ing it for Paddy’s day or for any special occasion you have coming up.Thanks for reading my tutorials. Anita from www.chatterbox.ie xxx

Step 7: Line your lips with a nude or pale pink lipliner to give them some natural definition. I used Charlotte Tilbury’s Lipliner in Pillow talk. Next apply your favourite nude lipstick and top it off with a nice glossy lipgloss. For this look I used Charlotte Tilbury’s lipstick in Nude Kate and her gloss in LSD. Again I decided to keep the lips very natural as the look is focused on the intensity and glamour of the eyes so we don’t want to take away from this with dark cheeks or lips.

D.I.Y Beauty!

By Stephnie Butler

It is getting closer to Valentine’s Day now and after Christmas we have to mind the pennies. Everyone has stresses and worries in their lives, whether it is from work, family, friends or finances but it is still very important to take time out for ourselves, even if it is just a few

hours in the evening or on a day off. So this month I have a step by step guide for you to follow for face, hair and body masks and scrubs that you can do at home to keep yourself looking polished, help you to totally de-stress and unwind but still keep those pennies in your pocket at the same time. I like to call it D.I.Y. beauty. You will have to bear in mind though it will take an hour or so of preparation work before hand, what I do is get most of it done the night before and have it all ready to go.

IngredientsI know this might seem like a lot of ingredients but most of them are just basic things that you will have in your kitchen anyway.

2 EggsGreek yogurtHoneyBrown sugar (basic refined white sugar will do if you don’t have any brown sugar) Olive oilOrganic coconut oil1 AvocadoSea salt 1 Lemon

32 NO.3 (1/2015)

Prep WorkLike I was saying before, I like to make all my masks and scrubs the day or night before - that way they are all ready to go and I can just grab them and start. When applying them I would start with your hair mask first as you can leave it on the longest, then you use the face scrub, face mask and then body scrub. Make sure once you’re finished all this you moisturise your whole body.

Hair Mask Avocados are rich in a variety of vitamins and nutrients, including vitamin E and protein, both of which your hair needs to remain soft and healthy. Meanwhile, honey is a natural antibacterial agent and organic coconut oil is rich in proteins, fatty acids, vitamin B and C, zinc, potassium and iron, in my opinion organic coconut oil (even on its own) will definitely prove to be one of the best hair treatments ever!Ingredients:• 1Avocado• 1tbspofhoney• 2tbspoforganiccoconutoilPreparation: Cut and scoop out the inside of a ripened avocado and mix in the honey and organic coconut oil, apply to your hair and allow it to sit for 20 to 30 minutes (the longer the better) before rinsing it all from your hair, then shampoo and condition as normal..

Face ScrubThis face scrub is simple, basic and very, very popular. Because the skin on the face is very delicate, sugar is the preferred exfoliant to salt because it tends not to tear at the skin. This helps clear up clogged pores. This can also be used on your lips.Ingredients:• 1/4cupofhoney• 1/2cupofbrownsugar• 1tbspofoliveoil• 1tbspofcoconutoilPreparation: Mix all the ingredients together and apply the mixture to your face and massage in a circular motion to ensure you’re removing dead skin from your face. Rinse with warm water and press skin with a warm washcloth..

33NO.3 (2/2015)

Face MaskThis excellent egg white and yogurt face mask recipe is packed with vitamins and proteins and is great for skin care. Researches show that yogurt cleanses and mois-turises the skin while the egg white is use to tighten and smoothen the skin for a radiant complexion.Ingredients:• 2eggwhites• 2tbspofgreekyogurtPreparation: Separate the egg whites from the 2 eggs and place them in a bowl. Add the 2 tablespoons of yogurt. Mix them up and apply to your face. Leave on your face for 10 minutes then rinse with warm water, followed by a warm washcloth.

Body ScrubBody scrubs are great! They leave your skin feeling fresh and smooth as well as healthy and glowing by exfoliating off old layers of dead skin. Ingredients:• 1cupofseasalt(ifyoudon’thaveseasaltnormaltable salt will do just fine)• 1/2cupofbrownsugar• 1/2cupoforganiccoconutoil• 5tbspoffreshlysqueezedlemonjuicePreparation: Combine the sea salt and sugar into a bowl, heat the organic coconut oil on low heat until it becomes a liquid and then add the lemon juice, mix it altogether and massage it all over your body and then rinse off as normal.

Your Time Now after all that it is your time to relax, unwind and de-stress. Make sure there is enough hot water to run a nice bubble bath. Bring all your masks and scrubs with you and leave them at the side of the bath for you to get your hands on them easily. Put the phone away into your bedside locker or somewhere you won’t be able to hear or see it. I know it’s hard for some of us including myself to be without our phones but trust me you don’t want to be interrupted. Make sure you tell everyone where you are and NOT to bother you. Bring in a nice book or magazine to read and light some candles that you like and place them around the bathroom, lock the door, turn off the lights and enjoy!

White spots on your nails don’t indicate a calcium deficiency

Calcium deficiency causing white spots on nails is the most common myth, followed by zinc deficiency. The truth is that white spots are common and harmless and don’t indicate any specific vitamin deficiency at all,” Krant says. “Most likely they are signs of previous trauma to the nail plate (the hard part of the nail) or the matrix (the source of the nail plate, which is located underneath the cuticle under the skin). Just like folding or denting a piece of clear plastic leaves a white spot, so does pressure or trauma to the nail.

Hat Madness

42 NO.3 (1/2015)

We can always rely on Miss Perry to bring some madness to the ruby rug and she did just that at the Video Music Awards in August. Katy and her rapper boyfriend Riff Raff, paid homage to Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake’s infamous head to toe denim combo – and matched her manicure accordingly. The pop princess laced her devilishly long, square tipped claws, in a simmering shade of sky blue. Square off your claws with a sharp buffing board such as The Body Shop Nail Block, £4, for perfected straight tips and gently rub the top half of your nail to smooth away ridges and create a smooth base for your polish. Next, lace your manicure with a warming tint of azure such as New Look Pure Colour in Pale Blue and voila, you”re red carpet ready.

The London born style maven is never one to steer away from a deliciously kooky trend, but at the American Music Awards in November, Rita let her sunshine yellow dress brighten up the scarlet runner and opted for a nude nail. Her serenely shaped square claw with a subtle soft edge added a spark of casual cool to her

look while the delicate tone sprinkled a simple touch of understated beauty to the proceedings. Recreate the look yourself by lacing your nails in a thin veil of Michael Kors Nail Varnish in Ingenue, £15.50. The effortless shade glides on your fingertips in one swish sweep – leaving you with a pop star worthy manicure in minutes. For a soft summery look, apply one thin coat for daytime allure and for a more intense evening vibe, add a couple extra layers for a muted pop of pink.

It’s that time again. The fairy lights have been stripped from our mantle pieces, the frost is gradually descending across our streets and the tinsel town locals are dust-ing of their favourite party frocks for the biggest bashes of the year. But it’s not their gorgeous gowns that are captivating our attention – it’s their glamorous manicures. From delicate nude hues to outrageously daring diamante – the red carpet is adorned with perfectly sculptured talons. As we hotly await the return on the award season, it’s time to reminisce on the hottest claws that have already sauntered down the red carpet.

Stylista Nicole Richie never gets a fashion foot wrong, from her lavender locks to her sultry smoky eyes – this girl knows how to work a red carpet in style. Rewind back to the Met Gala in New York City, Nicole showed off her maroon manicure with futuristic gold details in deep metallic hues. Cheat your way to Vogue worthy finger tips by crowning yours with Ghetto Gold by

House of Holland, £8.99. The false talons stick to your natural nail with ease and stay put for days. If you want to recreate Nicole’s maroon masterpiece by hand – invest in a deep burgundy hue such as BD Trade Secrets Blackberry Bliss Nail Polish, £5.99. Coat your claws with the intense hue then,

contrast your burgundy infused nails with a metallic shade like Ciaté Paint Pot in Ladylike Luxe, £9.50. Now it’s time to get cre-ative and grab a thin nail tool to

paint on the shimmering shade such as The Body Shop Nail Pen, £6. Keep your hands steady, sheen your pen with polish and sketch out the gold

design for an A list manicure in minutes.

Lily Allen isn’t shy when it comes to her nail art and is frequently spotted collecting awards

and stepping out of limos with glitter adorned talons draped in

eccentric designs. When she was invited to the Chanel No. 5 after party in October she didn’t let us down – beauty junky Lily rocked up to Karl Largerfeld’s star stud-ded bash with bejewelled claws sprayed with the fashion house’s insignia. Create a Chanel inspired manicure at home by pressing Get Nailed by House

of Holland, £8.99 on to your finger tips and paint the top half of the nail black using Bio Sculpture in Licorice, £6.49. To create a perfect line, place a piece of paper

across your nail and lavish your claws in the gothic shade; even out your talons and lace the other half of your nail in a shimmering silver such as

ELF in Liq-uid Metal £2.50. Next, grab a pot of glitter, such as MAC Pigment Reflects in Pearl, £17 for an iridescent gleam to rival Lilys. Sprinkle the glistening pigment all over the wet silver polish and seal it in place with a clear varnish like B. Base Coat in Clear. For an extra shot of glitter, splash your tips with Models Own Polish in Fireworks Sparkler, £5 for a

real explosion of sparkle.

Start with your base to create all the following looks. (see above)

1. Simple smudged bottom eyelashes; Using the brown eye pencil, line your waterline. Line along under your bottom eyelashes keeping as near as possible to your eyelashes.

2. Simple effective look giving shape to your eyes so they stand out.

3. Defined eye look; Following on your above look, draw a line above your eye, 3/4 of the way

across your eye, not going into the inner eye as we want this to be the lightest point. The reason for this is to create a larger eye effect

4. Using your finger smudge the line along your top lid to give a more effective look.

5. It’s that simple as we don’t al-ways have time to do a full eyeshadow look.

6/7. Pop your smoky eyeshadow Apply the brown eye pencil all over your eyelid as a base for your eyeshadow. It will stick and hold to the gel and make your eyeshad-ow more prominent with a similar colour base.

8/9. Using a similar eyeshadow to set your eyeliner, apply on top of your eyelid and blend.

I received a Provoc semi-permanent gel eyeliner in pencil form. Its bonus feature is that it is waterproof! Shade No.82 - brown. I also

received Provoc strip eyelashes, No.0012. They are so effective as they are 100% real human hair giving you two times more volume and in-

tensity. (image 1) Along with the eyelashes I received a gift of a Provoc black gel eyeliner pencil (image 2). With these three products alone you can create so many different looks. As the pencils are gel eyeliners they are amazing to blend and smoke out any eye look, creating an intense

eye-popping look.

I received some Provoc products in the post from Glimmer Magazine and I had to put them straight to

good use to share my makeup looks with you all!

10/11. Another look created so simply.

12. To darken this look up we are going to add some depth to the eye socket. Apply black gel liner to your outer eye and half way along your socket.

13. and once again blend.

14. Adding the black to your waterline to give more of a striking look.

15. giving us another look to add to our collection

So, as you can see, you can create so many looks from so few products. Don’t be afraid to experiment with your makeup. I loved these gel liners as they are so easy to work with and are waterproof for long lasting effect. I love the shade of the brown no.82 it was a bronze brown which if very flattering to eye colours. The black was a strong pigment in colour exactly what we expect in a black. I would recom-mend both gel liners ,I was not disappointed!

I would like to thank Glimmer Magazine and Provoc. Also check out my facebook page for more makeup and hair tips, tricks and bookings.

How to apply strip eyelashes

1. Measure your eyelashes up against your eye and trim to size.

2. Apply your glue and leave it sit to get tacky. If you apply with glue which has become tacky it makes it easier to put the lash exactly where you want it.

3. Place the eyelash on top of your top eyelashes and hold in place for a few seconds. Always look down when applying and never close your eye to avoid glue spreading.

4. There you have it, a gel liner created eye makeup look with eye-lashes.

Cupcakes

INSTRUCTIONS

2While the cupcakes are baking and cooling, make the soles of the high heel shoes. Slide the template under a piece of parchment paper, then pipe the shoe soles using melted white candy coating. Place them in the freezer for a few minutes to allow the candy coating to harden.

Pipe on a line of white candy coating and then sprinkle on some colored sugar.

3

3 Now its time to create the cookie heels. Cut the cookies to the prefered height or around 3 inches. Be sure to cut the cookies at a slight angle, that way they will attach to the soles better..

4 When cupcakes are cooled, remove from pan. Spoon 2 taplespoons of a colored candy coating into one of the muffin pan cavities. Use a spoon to brush the candy coating up the sides of the pan. Press a cupcake into the candy coating, allowing it to ooze up around the sides of the cupcake. Repeat, filling all the cavities in the muffin pan.

5 Place filled pan in the freezer for 10 minutes so candy coating can harden.Remove pan from freezer and turn it upside down. Holding the pan a few inches over your work surface, press the backside of each of the muffin cavities, allowing the cupcakes to fall out of the pan.

Pipe the matching color of Betty Crocker Cupcake Icing onto the cupcakes. Smooth the icing using the flat edge of a knife. Roll iced cupcakes in colored sugar.

6 7Assemble cookies. Insert one sole into each cupcake. Attach cookie heel using melted white candy coating.Decorate with candies, fondant, model-ing chocolate, or frosting.

YOURBODY

TRANSFORM

Training legs will not only make you stronger but leaner too. Squats, deadlifts and leg presses all work the abdominal muscles as well. Not only are you training your legs and abs but you are also training the rest of your body too.

10X10SETS

&REPS

Transforming your body doesn’t happen over night. Hard work

and dedication is key to becoming stronger, leaner and ultimately fitter. Leg training, with a combination of interval training is the first step to burning fat in 7 days! The results our body gives us is what keeps us fighting through that last set... Remember that.

Using a kettlebell with the desired weight, follow these steps and keep holding your squat at the end for approx 5 seconds for 2-5 reps of each set. This will not only make you more flexible, it will always put more strain and stress on your muscles, forcing them to stretch more and burn way more fat. Dont forget to take a 60 second break inbetween every set.

BATTLE

ROPE

To achieve the body you’ve always wanted, high intensity interval training is the way to go. In under 5 minutes, you will burn more fat then spending 30 minutes on the treadmill. Using an interval timer, do

15 seconds on the rope and 15 seconds off for a total of 7 reps. Battle rope training is all about having fun and letting loose. So put on your favourite playlist and start swinging those arms up and down with the

rope. Jump, squat and move around as well to burn even more fat. And most importantly have fun!

The mind is the limit. As long as the mind can

envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it, as long as you really

believe 100 percent.-Arnold Schwartzenegger
