I do not know much about them. My ]Iather said David Lewis aDd his son John W. were born in Wales. He didn't tell us any details about Mary Whit!ock. In Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, U.S.A., where David Lewis lived as well as his son John W., we visited 9 cemeteries looking at tombstones •. Most all Lewis stones said they came from GLill~ORGAN,WALES. I thought maybe my Lewis family did too •. --- I -- Mary Hero Smith, wife of John W. Lewis was buried in the Methodist Episcopal Cemetery, Minersville, Schuylkill, County, Fa. I assumed the Lewis family were Methodist. I do not have any documentation. Mary Hero Smith was born on the Ship HERO ·coming to America from Scotland. I am enclosing a copy of Passinger Arrival Records, WaShington, D. C. I am not certain this is my David Lewis and Mary Whitlock Lewis. Hovvever, my Grandfather John W. Lewis was born in 1820 as recorded in the 1850 U.S.A. Census Records. Tue Cemetery records at Shamokin Cemetery, Shamokin, Fa. states he died Sept. 20, 1895 age 65 years. This would make him born 1830. Mr. FeteI' Whitlock said Christopher and Elias Whitlock left .Langt:r;'ee in the 1780 I S and moved to Glamorganshire. We /jope my Mary Whitlock can be linked to one of these Whitlo~s I am writing to inquire about your Glamorgan Family History Society. Mr. Peter Whitlock suggested I join your Society.
