• Bishopshall, our largest girls’ boarding house, has been closed to enable a complete refurbishment, which will result in the transformation of the interior to bring the accommodation up to an exceptionally high standard. During the refurbishment, our current Bishopshall boarding pupils have been moved across the road to brand-new, independently-owned accommodation (Ayton House). Bishopshall will reopen for our girls in August 2016.

• Bishopshall is currently used by both boarding and day students at St Leonards. All of the shared space is on the ground fl oor. Th e ground fl oor area will include a seminar room, two quiet study rooms, a technology suite, and a state-of-the-art kitchen and common room to provide a social space for the girls.

• Th e design brief is to modernise the boarding house in a ‘country house’ style. For example, the communal areas will have a bespoke Axminster carpet in a subtle ancient tartan design using hand dyed yarn, and we have asked the students to come up with their own artwork ideas about what makes Bishopshall and St Leonards such a special place. Th e winning designs will be printed onto cream fabric for curtains and blinds in four diff erent colours - a diff erent colour for each fl oor of Bishopshall.

• Th e original furniture will be restored and re-upholstered where possible, and the lockers will be retained and used on the ground fl oor. Th e original window shutters, entrance fl oor tiles, and the stained glass which is currently in the drawing room will be retained.
