November and December are the busiest times

of the year here at the club, although it has to be

said there is no time when we seem to slow down.

November this year brings our Fundraising night

for the Ronnie Scott’s Charitable Foundation on

November 8th featuring the Curtis Stigers Sinatra

show plus guests, sharply followed by the London

Jazz Festival which raises the profile of jazz in

town for ten days.

December brings the usual mayhem that is the

Christmas Cabaret Lunch series (98% sold out

right now) when the house band let their hair

down and the audience brush up their kazoo skills.

The December evening programme is full of ever

jollier audiences and even jollier musicians and

this year features a run by funk legend Fred

Wesley and his new JBs. Of interest to some

might be the change we have made on New

Years Eve.

We have noticed that the pattern of people’s New

Year’s Eve has changed over the years, many

people want to go out and celebrate but don’t

want to be in the middle of London after midnight,

so we have decided to try a two show New Year’s

Eve with Incognito playing two houses in the

evening. As you might expect the later show has

sold out but there are a few remaining tickets for

the early set, but probably not for long.

Finally, a note regarding membership of Ronnie’s.

The reason most people are members is the

priority advance booking they get, especially for

the bigger ticket acts. Next year we are already

in negotiation to bring Chick Corea, Bobby

McFerrin and Pat Metheney to the club and have

confirmed shows for Alice Russell, Larry Carlton,

Ruby Turner, Lucky Peterson, Cymande, Nigel

Kennedy and Pee Wee Ellis amongst many;

reasons to sign up for sure.

Seasons Greetings

He made his debut at the Havana International Jazz Festival in 1990 whenhe was just 15 and went on to wow audiences as a member of Buena Vista Social Club and theinternationally acclaimed orchestra of Ibrahim Ferrer. His dazzling music draws on the traditions ofCuban and African music but he brings the lyricism of Herbie Hancock and the drive of McCoyTyner as well as an unparalleled gift for melody. Fonseca returns to Ronnie’s performing music fromacross his repertoire including last year’s ‘Abuc’ that tells the rich story of Cuban music through ariotous, rousing kaleidoscope of dancing colours.
