Background and Objectives

Today’s Water utilities are realizing the benefits of geographic information system (GIS) technology for engineering, construction, and operations purposes. The typical requirements of these utilities reflect business needs to:

Objective:The Water Utility As-Built validation customized tool provides a series of a predefined validations to validate business rules. This tool automatically populates/update the attributes (for example assigning the Joint type, material etc. based on the fittings type/diameter) when the tool gets executed. We understand this tool is very useful ensures the delivering an error free data to our client and it reduces the manual efforts (30 %) and produce the Quality output to check the various validations.

As- Built Development/ Validations:Tool checks for any hanging features, duplicate features, standard values in the attributes.Below feature classes are available in WaterDistributionDataSet in PGDB for Water network and tool check the validations.

Each feature class has various subtypes available and each subtype has different business rule. (For example, based on the diameter joint type, material will be changed, and based on the subtype name, diameter will be changed. Tool also checks the mandatory attributes which cannot have null values, and standard values in the attribute fields. (For example), Creation user, spaces in project number etc.
