Solid capacitors and electrolytic capacitors both store electricity and discharge it when needed. The difference is that solid capacitors contain a solid organic polymer, while electrolytic capacitors use a common liquid electrolyte, hence, the terms solid capacitor versus electrolytic capacitors.
