Your Guide to the 2018 Auction

Our Auction is one of the major fundraisers for the church and this year’s focus was to build fellowship within our com-munity. Proceeds of the Auction will go into the general fund to be used towards programming and operational costs. Take time to read this catalog cover to cover before the Auction event. Vacation Home in Paris,

France

Live like a Parisian! Enjoy a one week stay in a 2 bedroom flat in Paris, France. It is fully equipped, sleeps four, and is in a charming Left-Bank location. The apartment is fully finished and is convenient to bus routes or either of the two near by Metro lines. The apartment is owned by Americans familiar with US tastes (there should be some Starbucks coffee beans waiting for you.) The library includes CD’s, Laser Discs and DVD’s should there be a rainy day. The timing of use needs to be mutually convenient.

Two Annies Gourmet Feast for 8

Invite your most fascinating group of friends or those folks you really want to impress for an evening of fine dining and conversation. Annie McQuilken will provide the elegant dining venue in her beautiful home in Fairport Village. Annie Perry will prepare a gourmet feast, each course presented uniquely. The menu, while a work in progress, will likely feature the best crab cakes ever and the to-die-for dark chocolate cake with ganache. You would gladly spend $100 per person for this in a restaurant! Julia Child might be gone, but her recipes live on. Celebrate her genius at a 5-course dinner. Based on “Mastering the Art of French Cooking” with wines to complement the meal, of course. Dinner to be held at the home of Libby Moore in Bushnell’s Basin on Saturday, September 8

Sunset Boat Cruise

Scenic Sunset Boat Cruise aboard “Vega”, a 25’ Rosborough pilothouse trawler for 2 people. Leaving from Stony Point Maria in Webster, we will cruise around beautiful Irondequoit Bay, under the Bay Bridge and weather permitting, we will venture out into Lake Ontario down towards Webster Park and back. This slow, relaxing trip will take about 1-1.5hrs and includes a light snack and non-alcoholic beverages. If you have never done this, we know you will love the beautiful scenery and natural resources our area has to offer.

Backyard BBQ

Steven and Gaelen will host a summer backyard BBQ for 4-6 people. Steve got his BBQ chops at the Culinary Institute of America’s “Barbeque Bootcamp” and has honed his skills on a massive charcoal grill in his backyard in Henrietta. We have 2 quiet acres of land with the original barn as our backdrop, a shady patio with sun sails and café lighting. We’re happy to host a family with kids and our own 9 yr old, Clara will be joining us. Keuka Lake Bike Ride

Downtown Rochester, June 9th

An introduction to some of the landmarks and stories from early Rochester. I’ll answer, “Where was the courthouse on Court Street?”, “Where does the water come from that comes out below the Library in summer?” and “Where was the first Erie Canal aqueduct, and what happened to it?” Length (up to 2 hrs) and distance to be mutually agreed on. Evening Garden Soiree

Join Megan Meyer in her gardens for an evening of wine, light appetizers, and great conversation. Her gardens have been on numerous garden tours to support the Genesee Land Trust and the Rochester Civic Garden Center. Megan works with garden volunteers at the First Unitarian woodlands and gardens as well as volunteers at the gardens around Warner Castle in Highland Park. Two choices of evenings are available. June 28 or July 12 (rain date to be scheduled)

Eleanor Roosevelt Tea Party

Take a step back in time for an Eleanor Roosevelt medium-high tea mixer served in 3 courses (gluten free available). Will include at least one game about Eleanor Roosevelt. Flowered dresses/shirts, gloves, and hats desired, but optional. Saturday August 4th from 2-4pm at Ann’s home in Irondequoit

Mushroom Hunting Foray

Local mushroom hunting foray in Mid August to Late September on a Saturday afternoon (approx 2.5-3hrs). You will receive some basic training on identification and cautionary measures before setting out for the search. Then discussion of the found specimens, there will be no eating. Perfect for ages 10 and up (adults must stay with children). Our success depends on the rains. Paul has 30 years experience and knows most of the common local species.
