Our tastes in television programming varies greatly, but our lives share one common theme: they have been well thought-out, scripted and cast by our Executive Producer—God. Each week our Executive Producer brings our Director behind the scenes to discuss which segment of His Word we should work on. Each Thursday evening, from 6:30 - 7:30 pm, during Mid-Week Service, we have "rehearsal" and just as God knew he would, Pastor brings his best! Although we study the same story line, our Pastor has such a way with words; such an ability to illustrate the Word God has given to him, that you would feel as though you're a part of a fresh, new episode every week! Once group rehearsal has ended and we de- part to practice on our own, we are generally very excited about what has just taken place. Many times over the course of the next few days, we are presented with many opportunities for life application, yet we are not feeling as enthusiastic anymore. In turn, our responses to people and situations we face are not so positive either. Like the exchanges we watch between characters on our favorite shows, someone snaps at us and we snap back. While driving, someone cuts us off and we almost kill ourselves catching up to them just to "wave." We receive bad news and we start stressing out to the point of being sick. This is out of character for a Child of God, as our character sketches call for us to bring glory to His name and be effective witnesses for Him. The more we attend rehearsals and study the script, the easier it becomes for us to go through each scene with near perfection! Even the great- est of all actors and actresses need regular re- hearsals, because once they are standing on set and get lost in the scene, they are no longer effec- tive; no longer making a worthy contribution to the goal of getting that scene completed. They are wasting time and money, while we are wasting time and opportunity to better ourselves, to apply and spread the Word of God. Again, rehearsals are necessary ~ The Script can not become a part of us through osmosis. We must study our lines, rehearse with the rest of the cast and then practice over and over again. We are admonished to study the Word of God, to "Hide [His] Word in our hearts," so It then becomes a natural part of our speech, actions and even our thoughts, "that we might not sin against [Him]" (Ps 119:11). While Mid-Week rehearsals can't fix our life's problems nor the antagonists we face on the set, knowing the script, which is in the Word of God, better prepares us to handle them. If you've spent any time watching television over the course of your lifetime, you've been pro-vided with more than a fair share of laughable moments. Facebook’s mission is sim-ple— “to give people the power to share and to make the world more open and connected.” Most people use Facebook to connect with family, old friends, class mates, and to network, but there is one use that we, as Christians, don’t think of right way— as a way to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Nowadays, you will find a

strong concentration of the Church’s presence on Face-book. One of the main benefits is that non-Christian friends on Face-book can see what groups you join and can also see your affiliations. So rather than a closed Christian net-working site, Facebook is a social networking site that better reflects your friend-ships and not just your Christian clique. It is obvi-ously no substitute for shar-ing your faith in person, but allows you to create a profile that reflects your faith and to share this with your other friends. Most church group pages

post snippets from that Sun-day’s sermon, videos of a service, information about current events and happen-ings, or even just a motiva-tional word for the day. New Gideon, in particular,

is developing a very strong presence on Facebook. There are close to 100 mem-

bers who are already Face-book users...even our be-loved Pastor Bessix is mak-ing his own connections as well. It is true, Facebook has its

ups and downs. In real life as well as the Cyber World, it is not without unsavory characters and rampant ig-norance, but it is also noth-ing to fear. If you are an adult 18 and older, I encour-age you to give it a try; you will certainly be surprised by who you’ll find or who will find you! Be Blessed and Stay Connected!

Here is a list of pages cur-rently representing NGBC on Facebook: • New Gideon Baptist Church ( Church Group Page)

• What’s Up New Gideon! ( A motivational & informa-tive page for all things NG!)

• Joyful Noise NGBCBR ( The Young Adult Ministry’s Group Page)

• Nu Praise (NGBC Hip Hop Ministry)

Meet Tandra! She is a native of Baton Rouge, and she has been a member of our church family for the last 3 years. She enjoys traveling to new and exciting places, hanging with friends and family, and worshiping at NGBC.

Her favorite bible verse is I Corinthians 13:4-6 4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not

boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is

not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does

not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always pro-

tects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Finding out your credit score is the first step in the right direction!

Joyful Noise is currently recruiting! If you love God and you love to sing and serve your community, you've cleared the first step! We believe in enriching our lives with the Word of God, and we must know the Word in order to effectively minister to God's people. So, in ad-dition to love for God and for ministry, it is also re-

quired that all members of Joyful Noise be active partici-pants in Fulfillment Hour (Sunday School) and/or

MidWeek Service (Bible Study).

If you're interested in becoming a part of this awesome ministry, please see one our members for further details!

Yes we are all in the same boat. We purchased something on credit years ago and did not pay on time. Unfortunately, now we’re paying the price and our credit is ruined. Credit is one of those obstacles in life that you have to chip away a little at a time until it is totally eliminated. Today, our credit scores (also called beacon or FICO scores) can prevent us from purchasing a home, buying a car, or even getting a job.

If you want great credit, the first step is admitting to yourself that you owe on a debt. Banks use your credit scores before lending money because it tells how likely you are to pay the loan back. The higher the score, the more likely you will repay your debt. The lower the score, the less likely you will get the loan.

Here are additional steps to discover your credit score…

• Step #1– go to www.annualcreditreport.com– everyone is entitled to 1 free credit report per year. Most companies use EQUIFAX. You may have to pay a small fee under $15 to get your score, but it’s well worth it.

• Step #2– refer to the chart to the left of the article to see where your credit scores lies.

• Step #3– Print your report and review your ratings.

• Step #4– determine how much is owed, the credit report should list the creditor’s name and contact information.

• Step #5– call the creditor to discuss payment options. Make an arrangement that is good for you as well as the company. They may actually try to help you eliminate this debt or settle it for less than you owe.

• Step #6– pay with a check, never in cash. Remember, you need to keep a paper trail which is proof that you’ve paid the debt.

Most people probably owe less than $10,000 in debt. With a valid payment plan, you can eliminate your debt. Some people work part time jobs just to help them achieve their financial goals.

Now, how do you feel? Great! Because you’ve done the right thing and God is pleased!
