    The overall Summer Sports & Leisure Programme

    Sports Train. A programme of sport, leisure, fitness, fun and interactive activities for children between the ages of 7 and 14 years, running weekday mornings between 10am and 12.30pm. No need to book just

    Stay and Play Programme. (Monday 20th July to Friday 28th August) A programme including sporting activities, arts, music, culture, nature and continued learning for children with special needs, running

    Monday to Friday 9.30am to 1pm. Referrals taken in liaison with St Martins Special School.

    12+ Beach Sports. Thursday morning 10am to 12.30pm for 12 to 14 year olds. Activities to include Beach Volleyball, Football, Rounders, Frisbee and Bocce.

    Family Fun Sports Evening Tuesday evenings 7.30 to 10pm from 28th July to 26th August at the Bayside Sports Centre. A programme of sporting activities for all the family, youngsters, mums, dads and

    grandparents. Badminton, Table Tennis, Carpet Bowls, Darts, Climbing, Pilates, Paddle Tennis and Boccia.

    No need to book just turn up.

    GSLA introduction to Sports Leadership for 14 to 16 year olds. . Running Mon to Fri 10th to 14th August and Mon & Tues 17th and 18th August, 9.30am to 2.30pm, culminating in a Festival of Sport for

    7 & 8 year olds. A great course for building confidence and developing organisational skills. Limited places,

    book through the Summer Sports Hotline, applications can be downloaded from GSLA web-site www.gsla.gi .

    What do parents need to know?

    Sports Train, Childrens Corner, Family Fun Nights, 12+ Beach activities and Junior Sports

    Leadership Award are all organised directly by the GSLA and are completely free of charge, with the exception of the Junior Sports Leadership Award, there is no need to book as youngsters can just turn up. All

    equipment unless stated will be provided.

    What to wear and what you need. Children and young people need to wear loose comfortable clothing, trainers and protection against the sun (e.g. a cap). Beach wear and a towel for beach activities at parents

    discretion. Children should be encouraged to eat breakfast before attending and bring along a drink.

    Parental Consent. All children and young people taking part on the programme must bring along a signed copy of the parental consent form (back page) submit at their first session.

    Contact details whilst your child is on the programme. Telephone number provided on the consent form must be manned for the duration of the childs participation on the programme.

    Photographs/Press coverage. Please note that children participating in the programme may be photographed by approved local media and their images may be published in the local press.

    Activities organised in partnership with Sports Associations.

    Some sports associations will charge for participation in their coaching clinics. These Associations will reinvest the fees paid towards the development of their junior sport.

    Sea Angling

    The Gibraltar Angling Association is organising two exciting dates for junior anglers. Sat 23rd

    August a training day offering

    advice and coaching on casting, tactics, tides, different baits and much more and Sat 29th

    August which is the date for the now

    Annual Gibraltar Summer Junior Angling Tournament. Dates and full details of both opportunities can be confirmed by

    Badminton Summer Camp

    Coaching course led by Gibraltar Badminton Association Coaches has been designed for players 8 to 12 years of all

    levels. Mon 20th to Wed 22nd July, 9.30am to 12.30pm at Bayside Sports Centre (Tercentenary Sports Hall).

    GABBA Basketball Summer Camp

    An exciting summer camp filled with drills and skills, tactics and competition running from Mon 17th

    to Fri 21st

    August, between

    10am and 1pm. A great way for beginners aged 8 to 12 years of age to play this exciting sport and for transitioning players to

    Cheerleading

    Gibraltar Cheerleading Association will be offering a myriad of Cheer workshops on Thurs 9am to 1pm during the summer

    programme (July and August). Workshops covering Pom dance, Street cheer, Stunting and Gymnastics are for girls aged 5 yrs -

    12yrs. Sports clothing plus trainers to be worn and a drink/snack brought to the workshops.

    Climbing

    The Gibraltar Climbing Association will be organising Introduction to climbing sessions for young people 8 to 13 years. Each

    session will comprise of 2 x 2 hours sessions held on Tues & Thurs 10am to 12noon at the Bayside Sports Centre Climbing Wall.

    Children must wear trainers or outdoor shoes, a hat and sun bloc and bring along a bottle of water.

    Chess for beginners and intermediate

    An introduction to chess and chess coaching will be available for beginners and more experienced young players over the

    summer period with Gibraltars Community Chess professional, Stuart Conquest. Sessions to be held at the Kings Bastion Leisure

    Centre, vault no 3 or Youth terrace: according to numbers.

    Football - GFA Summer School

    Mixed Football coaching Mon 13th

    to Fri 17th

    July, 9.30am to 12noon on the Bayside Sports Centre Main Pitch. Consisting of

    intensive training with GFA coaches for young players. Agility, skills, techniques and small sided games leading to competitions

    and presentations of prizes and mementos on the final day.

    GFA Girls Football

    Introduction to football skills, drills, tactics and small sided games for girls 4 to 12 years. Mon 13th

    Gymnastics (Rhythmic and Artistic)

    This years Summer Camp which will include Rhythmic and Artistic gymnastics for girls and boys of all levels over the age of 5

    years. Sessions will be scheduled Mon, Wed & Friday 13th

    to 24th

    July, 9.30am to 12noon at the Victoria Stadium Sports Hall.

    Coaching in artistic, ball, hoop and ribbons will be available culminating in a display for parents. Min age 5 years. Contact the

    Dance Acrobatics Gymnastic moves for dancers.

    2015 will see Gibraltar host the International Dance Organisation, European Show Dance Championships. To offer dancer

    opportunities to learn and perfect acrobatic techniques in the lead up to this competition, the Gibraltar Gymnastics Association

    in partnership with the GNDO will be offering training workshops encompassing, Ariels, back flips, walkovers, somersaults and

    Hockey

    Fun Hockey Coaching Camp for 5 to 12 year olds to be held at the Bayside Sports Centre, water based hockey pitch, Mon 20th

    Ice Skating

    Jennis Ice Skating Academy Jenni's Ice Skating Academy will be running their Ice Skating Summer Camp from Mon 13

    th July. Three coaches including guest Coach and Dancing on Ice star Alexei Kislitsin from Russia will be leading this

    years Ice Camp which will offer beginners aged four years and over, right through to level 5 the opportunity to develop skills

    Gibraltar Rock Stars Figures Skating Club Susan Walsh, level 4, Master Coach and former Olympic Coach and British Ice-skating Champion, will be leading this years Gibraltar Rock Figure Skating Summer School.

    (New) Netball

    Netball Summer Camps for 8 to 12 year olds at the Victoria Stadium Sports Hall,10am to 12noon, Mon, Wed and Fri 3rd

    August.

    Introduction to High Fives Netball, Fundamentals of movement and ball skills with Gibraltar Netball Association guest netball

    Coaches. For the first time in many summers netball is on the agenda for juniors, it will be fast and fun. Gibraltar Netball

    Association organises a massive domestic programme of leagues and competitions for juniors and seniors and participates on

    the international stage at all age groups, they also have an excellent Umpire Development Programme. So whether you are one

    of Gibraltar Netball Associations up and coming stars or whether you want to be an international Umpire, this summer camp is

    Rowing

    The Mediterranean Rowing Club is organising Summer Rowing Camps to introduce Rowing to children aged 12-16 years. Two courses will be offered, one running from Mon 13

    to 1pm. Courses will be managed by a UK Qualified Rowing Coach together with local support.

    Gibraltar Rugby Football Union will be offering a Summer Coaching Clinic with Gibraltar Rugby Football Union National Team

    12 noon. A fantastic invasion sport for boys and girls 9 to 14 years of age. The clinic will include speed, agility, tactics, match

    Sailing Summer School

    Learn to sail with qualified sailing instructors at the Royal Gibraltar Yacht Club.

    Courses for beginners with little or no sailing experience.

    Courses for young sailors with sailing experience, working towards RYA stages 2, 3 & 4.

    Participants to be between the ages of 8 and 15 years and must be confident in the sea.     Swimming

    Water confidence, stroke technique, rescue skills and fun are the theme for Tarik Swim School Summer Camps.

    Swim camps in the 25m pool for 8 years and over will run weeks beginning 20th

    either 10 to 11am or 11am to 12noon.

    (Swimmers in the GSLA25m pool must be able to swim 25 metres & wear swim caps)

    Table Tennis

    Taekwondo

    If you would like to try out this fantastic Martial Arts, which consists of patterns, sparring and self-defence, please

    come along to our new premises at North Jumpers, Rosia Road on Thursday 20th and Friday 21st August from 10:00

    to 12:00. Anyone over the age of 6 is welcome. Sports kit should be worn. Contact e-mail [email protected]

    Tennis

    Coaching Clinics at Queensway Tennis Courts for all levels, 5 years of age and over throughout the summer holidays with

    qualified coaches. Coaching will take place between the 13th

    Triathlon

    Gibraltar Triathlon Association will be organising a week of taster sessions for young people between the ages of 10 and 14

    years in the disciplines involved in triathlon from Monday 27th

    July to Friday 31st

    July. Open water swimming, cycling, running

    and the transitions between the disciplines will all form part of the taster session. At the end of the week the Gibraltar Triathlon

    Association will plan to hold a Triathlon race for all the participants at Eastern Beach. If interested please contact Akhil Viz who

    Annual Beach Volleyball Competition & Coaching Beach Volleyball Coaching with GVA coaches will take place Thurs and Fri 16

    Royal Gibraltar Police (RGP) Kids Summer Camp

    Fantastic RGP Summer Camps discovering all about the work of the Royal Gibraltar Police. There will be a total of six Summer

    Camps this year which are to be held throughout the holiday period beginning from Mon 13th

    July to Fri 28th

    9.15am to 12.30pm for 8 to 11 year olds. Full details will be confirmed on booking.

    What will be included in the RGP Summer Camps?

    The selection test to become a Police

    Officer Fun Assault Course

    A tour of RGP headquarters at New Mole House, including the cells

    and a chance to dress up in the uniform.

    Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) Intro

    into the department and a chance to

    try out fingerprinting and who can

    find the suspect (Cluedo).

    A visit to the Marine Section of the RGP (make sure you bring sun

    block)

    Police Dog display - Wash & splash fun day, presentation of certificates (make sure you

    bring a swimming costume, towel and sun block)

    Outdoor adventure, team building Activities whist building self-esteem, meeting new friends, gaining confidence,

    Walks through History.

    The Gibraltar Museum will once again be offering the very popular Walks through History, between July and August. As in

    other years, these walks are designed for children between 9 and 12 years of age. Parents or guardians are welcome to

    accompany the children but there is a limit on numbers, so children take priority. The maximum number per group is 20.

    Children must bring hats, comfortable clothing, sensible footwear and a drink. We also recommend that they wear sunscreen.

    All bookings will be on a first come, first served basis.

    Childline Gibraltar -Journalism/Creative Media Workshop for Teenagers

    Tuesday mornings from 11.30am to 12.30pm - 21st

    Child line will be offering creative media workshops for young people every Tuesday morning throughout the summer.

    Designing storyboards reflecting issues that affect young people in modern day Gibraltar and developing these into small videos

    clips that will be posted in Child lines new website and their Face book page.

    Dog Training - Junior handling Courses

    The ever-popular dog-handling course is now a permanent feature of the Summer Sports & Leisure programme. The course will

    cover topics such as why train your dog, training methods, showing your dog, sportsmanship & etiquette and preparing for

    competition. (Participants must take along their own dog and kit including water, towel, dog brush, toys, treats, safety collar

    & lead).

    Mini storytelling is aimed at encouraging children to join in the Wonderful world of reading whilst learning language and

    The Gibraltar Heritage Trust Learning about the local history of Gibraltar through arts and crafts. Children will learn about Gibraltars heritage and have fun at the same time, making Castles, Mosaic windows, Catapults and much more under the watchful eyes of Elizabeth Farrell and Sarah Devincenzi Venue, Main Guard in John Mackintosh Square for 7 to 11 year olds every Tues and Thurs morning 10.30 to 12.30pm throughout the summer holidays.     Gibraltar Youth Service -Young at Art Workshops

    A week of workshops incorporating a variety of different hands-on creative activities such as the use of tie

    dye, collages and using stencils for 9 to 12 year olds.

    ECO Arts Workshops Workshops aimed at helping children discover and create new ways of combining their ideas with green art, introducing them

    into the world of drawing, painting, and sculpture through nature.

    Young crafters learn about separating paper from plastic, tin from glass and about recognising recycling symbols printed on

    packaging. They are encouraged to collect natural materials, pebbles, shells, twigs and leaves which make excellent materials

    for their artwork. They are taught of the importance of recycling.

    Workshops run Mon to Wed mornings 10am till 1pm at the Botanical Gardens, meet at the arts plateau opposite the entrance to

    the Wild Life Park. In addition to this Ania will also be organising Eco Family weekends and a new concept of Eco Spirit into the

    future.

    Outdoor Painting with Giorann Henshaw.

    This years outdoor painting programme will see budding artists paint some of the fabulous views of Catalan Bay and for the

    younger age group the boulevard opposite the Jewish Park at the top of the Commonwealth Park.

    Mon 10.00am to 11.30am, the boulevard for 6 to 9 year olds.

    Tues 10.00am to 11.30am, Catalan Bay for age 10 years and over. Children need to bring a beach chair, a wide brimmed hat, a drink and a snack. Painting materials to include pencils, pad,

    Danza Academy Dancing for all!

    dancer. These sessions serve as a taster for new dancers and to maintain and improve levels for those who already dance.

    related and encourage children to 'discover through experiences and explorations. Such as in 'Fun In The Sun!', where children
