Six elements of the new Globally Harmonized Standard (GHS) label format Hazard Statements: Phrases that describe the nature of hazardous products and oftentimes the degree of hazard. Product Name or Identifiers* Manufacturer Information: Company name, address & telephone number. Precautionary Statements: Phrases associated with each hazard statement, that describe general preventative, response, storage or disposal precautions. *Additional Product Identifiers GHS Environmental Aquatic toxicity GHS Explosive Explosives, self-reactives, organic peroxides GHS Oxidizing Oxidizers GHS Flammable Flammable gases, liquids, & solids; self- reactives; pyrophorics; self-heating GHS Gas Pressure Gases under pressure GHS Corrosive Corrosives GHS Acute Toxic Irritant, dermal sensitizer, acute toxicity (harmful) GHS Severe Toxic Acute toxicity (severe) GHS Health Danger Carcinogens, respiratory sensitizers, reproductive toxicity, target organ toxicity, germ cell mutagens GHS Corrosive Corrosives Chemical / Physical Risk Health Risk Environmental Risk Signal Word: Indicates relative level of hazard. “Danger” is used for most severe instances, while “Warning” is less severe. 1. 3. 6. 4. 5.
