Letter From the General Manager

Hard to believe that it’s already September! The year is just fl ying by, and I hope that you have enjoyed the year thus far at the club. As Labor Day ends another summer, the begin-ning of another school year, the Fall Member / Guest, and the eagerly anticipated College Football Season offer many of you renewed opportunities to utilize your Country Club. The staff is ready for another exciting fall. In planning ahead, please mark your calendar for the upcoming events such as Movie Night at the Pool and the Haunted House and Pumpkin Carving! Don’t forget to sign up for the Club Christmas party on December 8th, because this event sells out quickly!

The employees of Greenville Country Club would like to take this opportunity to thank all those members who plan to support the Annual Christmas Fund this year. Your generosity is appreciated. The fund benefi ts all full-time and part-time employees on the Club's payroll in all departments of both Clubhouses (with the exception of the General Manager). You will have the opportunity to contribute on your October statement. It truly means a great deal, especially to those whom you may not see every day working hard to make your Club great!

As always, your suggestions are welcomed and encouraged. Please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected], or just pick up the phone and call. See you around the Club!

BV Pool will Close for the Season Monday, October 1st.

Brook ValleyUpdated Pool Schedule

The 2012 BVCC Barracudas completed another outstanding season. Led by Coach Doug Parker, Coach AJ Parker and Coach

Will Hodges, the Barracudas fi nished 8th in the regular season and 6th at the Champion-

ship meet. At the Championship meet, Sadler Smith brought home a gold in the 50 free,

while Erin Smith, Abby Ershadi, AJ Parker, Ian Sayers, Will Hodges and Brittany Parker each placed in the top 3 in individual events.

Throughout the season there were new strokes learned, best times swam and lasting

friendships made! Way to go 2012 Barracudas!

We had another incredible season at GCC. We fi nished the regular season in a three

way tie for 3rd. At the championship meet we fi nished in 4th place overall, which was

incredible given the number of swimmers that we took to the meet. We had around 86 swim-mers signed up this season and took around half of them to the meet. Some of the stand-out swimmers from the championship meet

were Sarah Fountain, Grace Fountain, Emma Hastings, Asher Lowry and Corry Eason.

Emma Hastings set multiple league records this season in the 7-8 Female age group with

swims in the 25 Free and 100 IM.

Valley course. Sign ups will be at both clubs.

Club Championship

Message from the SuperintendentMy how the summer has gone by, we have had our hands full with storm cleanup and mother nature providing us with plenty of rain fall. We have successfully planted champion Bermuda on the greens at GCC. Hopefully, everyone has had a chance to play. We are getting geared up for a busy fall season with a member guest outing in September and the Lady Pirates Invitation-al in October. I am hoping for an uneventful fall with no hurricanes. We are still in the process of fi nding the best route on taking care of the bulk head on hole 7 at BVCC. We will be install-ing artifi cial grass matts at both driving range tees. By having these matts, we will be able to provide a better hitting surface throughout the year. We will have days where you will be asked to stay on the matts when you practice on the range. When we over seed the tee, we will be on the matts for at least 10 days so that we can make sure that we will get a good stand of rye grass.

We are glad to have both courses back open to accommodate all of our members. I hope to see you out on the course soon.
