GFRA Workshop 8-10 October 2013 Epidemiology, Surveillance, Transmission and Control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease in Endemic Sengs of Africa Hosted by the ARC-OVI & Sokoine University of Agriculture, Arusha, Tanzania Goal: To share the latest knowledge on FMD virus ecology, epidemiology and transmission with specific emphasis on the transmission of the virus. Program content and themes include: 1. Foot-and-mouth disease: a global one health problem 1.1 Overview of Global FMD Situation 1.2 Advances on FMD Pathogenesis and Dissemination 2. Epidemiology and transmission of FMD in endemic settings 2.1 FMDV transmission from wildlife, current studies and future trends 2.2 Endemic transmission and long term natural maintenance of FMDV in endemic settings 3. Table top exercise between livestock producers & research scientists. Participants: GFRA and non-GFRA members involved or interested in the topics mentioned, livestock producers, research scientists & decision makers. We believe it is important for researchers, field staff, policy makers and industry from the endemic setting in Africa to interact on the latest de- velopments of FMD virus ecology, epidemiology and transmission to con- tribute towards global control of FMD. Epidemiology, Surveillance, Transmission and Control of Foot-and-Mouth Disease in Endemic Settings of

Africa Hosted by the ARC-OVI & Sokoine University of Agriculture, Arusha,

Goal: To share the latest knowledge on FMD virus ecology, epidemiology and
