GETTING TO SALAMANCA
The most common way to travel to Salamanca from another country is by flying first to
Madrid’s International Airport, called Barajas.
Recently, it is becoming more popular to fly to the airport in Valladolid
(Villanubla) from London-Stansted, Brussels-Charleroi, Paris-Orly, Lisbon or Palmero-
Punta Raisi. The main airline is Ryanair.
Salamanca has its own airport too, Matacán airport. There are regular flights from
Barcelona and Paris to Salamanca.
FROM MADRID’S INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (BARAJAS) TO SALAMANCA
International flights into Barajas airport arrive in Terminals 1 and 4. For information on
Barajas (or any airport in Spain), check the website of “Aeropuertos Españoles y
Navegación Aérea” (AENA: www.aena.es); you will find the option to choose Spanish or
English. Under “AENA airports” (to the left), select “Madrid-Barajas” and click on the arrow.
For useful information upon arrival, click on “Practical Information” (in the menu to the
left). Here you will find information on such subjects as the airport transit bus, luggage, and
