Welcome to the “Getting Started” part of the Vegan Reset workout guide. I believe that any approach to health and wellbeing should always be holistic since how we feel doesn’t only depend on what we eat. It’s about how we move, how (and how much) we sleep, the levels of stress we’re exposed to and even how we think and talk to ourselves. That is why we’ll be covering many different areas throughout the 4 weeks. Before diving into the the workout guide, we’ve compiled a list of questions that you might be wondering about. Please read the responses carefully anddon’t hesitate to email us if you have any questions that aren’t covered. Important note: This workout guide is absolutely optional, you do not have to follow it if you don’t want to. Exercise, while challenging, should also be fun and enjoyable.

So if you know that calisthenics just aren’t your thing, that’s totally fine, there are many other ways to move your body and feel good. You could go for walks, dance to your favorite music, go to a Yoga class, whatever you feel like. We’ll be speaking about exercise more throughout the Reset, so stay tuned.  Lastly, one thing that I want to stress is the importance of moving away from a strict “weight loss” focus. We are taught to obsess over numbers on scales and encouraged to compare ourselves to bodies that aren’t built like ours from an early age on, but what happens when all we focus on is weight loss is that we stop truly listening to our bodies. We’d love for you to start looking at weight loss as a side effect, rather than the end goal. When you shift your focus to what nourishes you and makes you feel good, the whole journey becomes more enjoyable. Love, Kim-Julie

Not at all. These exercises were specifically written to for the Vegan Reset to accommodate those that do not have access to equipment or a gym membership. A handful of exercises will involve simple to find items in your home.

Will I need Equipment?

How many Days a week should I incorporate this workout?

I recommend a minimum of 3 times a week. Because these are mainly calisthenics, those who are more active and want a bit more of a challenge  can even do these workouts 6 times a week. A day of break is always recommended for mental health and body repair.

You absolutely can. The Vegan Reset exercises are specifically designed using body weight so they are low impact and not as taxing on the body.

Can I incorporate the Vegan Reset workouts with my current exercise regimen?

I have an injury, what can I do?

This depends on your injury.  If it's a knee or ankle joint issue, I would avoid the squats, lunges and jumps. If its an upper body injury, I would focus on the leg workouts.  For all other questions, I would share this with your general physician.

I don’t have a solid 35 minutes completely free to myself. How can I exercise still?

You can definitely break up the workouts throughout the day if you can’texecute the workout all at the same time.

Absolutely. You may cherry pick exercises from the full list. You may add on extra exercises from the broad list, or you may replace exercises as well. If you are comfortable, you can be as creative as you care to.

May I break apart the workouts and tailor them to my needs?

Can my children do these workouts with me?

It depends. Children aged 5 and up can do (or kind of do) most of the exercises on this list. If they are small and young, let them “play” with you in these workouts. If they are older (10 - 13)  theycan read the directions and instructions just as you do and you all can do it together.

Yes. These are all body weight exercises. As long as you feel energetic enough, feel free to add on double workouts.

Can I combine different workouts on the same day?

Will the workouts help me to lose weight?

These workouts will help you get stronger. These workouts will help you have more energy. These workouts will make you feel better overall.  And there is a high possibility that these workouts will help with weight loss; however, the purpose of The Vegan Reset is to ramp up your health.  Weight loss typically is an awesome byproduct!

Follow the instructions for novices and newbies.  At first, you will have muscle soreness and that’s normal. Keep pushing!
