At Angle of Attack, all of our training is available through our website via in-stant streaming. This allows you to start enjoying your training just seconds after your purchase. It also means no shipping costs, lost DVD’s, or scratched discs. As with everything however, there is a bit of a learning curve. The instruc-tions below walk you through accessing your newly purchased training.

Use your web browser to navigate to http://www.flyaoamedia.com. You’ll come to a page that looks like this:

Take a look at the bar at the top. Next to the words “member login”, you’ll see spaces to enter a username and password. This is something you should have set up during the purchase process if you didn’t already have an account with us.

Quick Points:

Your purchased train-ing can be accessed from your account on our website.

The Membership Dashboard is a one-stop page for access to all your purchased training products.

Enter your login details, and you’ll be taken to this screen:

From the dashboard screen shown above, you can Navigate to the member’s area of any of our training products that you have purchased by clicking “View Training” under the respec-tive product. For product’s you don’t yet own, you’ll see a “Buy Now” button, which gives you quick and easy access to that product’s purchase page.

*Tip: if you don’t remember your login information, take your best guess. If you get it wrong, you’ll be taken to a screen where you can reset your password and/or have your username emailed to you.

*Tip: if you just made a purchase and you see “Buy Now” instead of “View Training”, wait about 24 hours. If you continue to see “Buy Now”, email our customer support at [email protected]

Each of our training products has its own Member’s Area, which is accessable from the Membership Dashboard. The instructions below will outline accessing individual videos and content within your training package.

From the membership dashboard, click the “View Training” button under the product you wish to access. This will take you to a page that lists the different categories within the training program. The layout varies from product to product, here is an example of the AviatorPro categories page:

Quick Points:

Training is found in the member’s area, which is accessable from the member-ship dashboard.

Each member’s area is seperated into categories.

Each categories con-tains posts, which are the videos or extras pertaining to that category.

From this point, you can click on the induvidual sections to view the content within that section. Clicking on one of the content sections will take you to a page that looks like this.

Each page within the content section contains up to eight posts. For sections with more than eight posts, you’ll find a “Previous Entries” button at the bottom left area of the page. Posts can consist of a variety of content, from checklists to videos to study guides and other bonus content. Each post includes a title, picture, and breif description, which you can see before clicking on that post.

When you click the “View” button for a specific post, you’ll be taken straight to it and be able to access the content the post contains. For videos, you’ll be able to watch them as well as download them. Documents and other content will be available for download to your system as well. We will explain downloading content more in-depth in chapter 3.

*Tip: Please note that some posts are only available for certain members. If you try to access a post that you don’t have access to, you’ll receive a message stating that this area is reserved for our training members. If you believe that this is a post you should have access to, email our support staff at [email protected] .

As stated in an earlier chapter, all of our training videos are available through our website via instant streaming. We also offer all videos as a download for those who have slower In-ternet connections, or want to view the training offline. The download for a specific video can be found on that video’s page, underneath the streaming version. Some of our train-ing products, for example the 737 training, offer two different types of downloads; an HD version and a mobile version. The reason we offer these two different types is because our HD videos can be quite big in file size, and can end up taking up a good bit of room on your mobile device. For this reason, we offer a non-HD version of our videos, which is smaller in file size, but doesn’t have a noticeable difference in quality when viewed on a phone or other small screen. Note that the mo-bile versions can also be viewed on a computer and are useful for slower connections or if your Internet Provider limits the amount of content you can download per month.

To download a video from the site, simply left click on the download button, which you’ll find directly below the video. The download button for a 747 video, for instance, looks like this:

Quick Points:

All of our training videos are available either via streaming from our website, or via download to your computer.

You can find the download links on each video’s post.

Some products have both mobile and HD versions.

*Tip: After purchas-ing your training, you are free to download the videos at any time and as many times as you want.

Once the download is complete, you can find the video in your downloads folder, or wherever your downloads are normally saved to. To view the video, just double-click on its icon. Once you have the file downloaded, you can move it to an external drive, disc, or other device. We will cover more on syncing the videos to your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch in the next chapter.

Disclaimer: Our training videos can be viewed on any mo-bile device that supports their format. If you need help using our training on another device, just send a quick note to [email protected], and we’ll help you the best we can.

Viewing your training on your iPhone, iPod, or iPad is a great way to keep your computer free for Flight Simulator, while still being able to view the training without need for a laptop or other computer. There are three basic steps to getting your Angle of Attack training onto your Apple mobile device:

The first step has been covered in the previous chap-ter, so we will move on to importing the video into iTunes on your computer.

1. Downloading2. Importing3. Syncing

Quick Points:

Adding AoA videos to your iDevice can be done in three easy steps.

iTunes makes it very simple to import video content. Simply bring up the fold-er that your downloaded video is in with Windows Explorer (Windows) or Find-er (Mac) and leave the window open. Open iTunes and Position the two win-dows next to each other. Now, simply drag the video’s icon over the “Library” section of iTunes, which you can find in the top left corner. The “Library” section looks like this:

iTunes will automatically import the video, and it will remain within iTunes as long as you do not move it from the folder it’s located in. You can find the video under the “Movies” tab.

Now plug your iPod, Phone, or Pad in to your computer. A “Devices” section will appear in iTunes. Click on your device and “Movies” or “Videos” at the top of the page that appears. Check “Sync Videos” if it isn’t already and check the box next to the video you wish to sync. Press the “Sync” button at the bottom, and your done!

At Angle of Attack, one of the most vital parts of our business is user input. We love to take in suggestions for future videos and hear your comments on past productions. For this reason we have implemented a comments system on all of our posts and video pages, as well as a “Wall” where you can receive up-dates and get help from users.

We use a system called Disqus for our comments. Disqus is a universal platform that you can use to make comments on a variety of sites. Sites like CNN, TIME, Engadget, and many oth-ers use this platform. This means that once you’ve signed up to comment on any site that uses Disqus, you never have to sign up again- just use your Disqus account. Disqus also allows you to sign in with your Google, Yahoo, Twitter or Facebook ac-counts. You can even sign in with a temporary Guest account if you don’t wish to create another account.

Look around the site and find a video you’d like to comment on. You should see a box that looks like this somewhere to-wards the bottom of the page:

Quick Points:

Comments are han-dled through Disqus

You can make comments using a variety of accounts

Type you comment into the box and then click the “Post as…” button. You’ll be presented with this dialogue:

Using the tabs on the left-hand side, you can sign in to Disqus using the ac-count of your choice. It is highly recommended you use this at an opportunity to create a free Disqus account. Disqus will remember you on that computer and this will prevent you from having to log in each time you wish to make a comment.

Once you’ve either created an account or signed in using another method, you can click the “Post Comment” button in that dialogue to post your comment. Your comment will then appear below the post box.

As has been stressed earlier in this guide, Angle of Attack is all about user input. We have a Help Desk for product questions (see next chapter), a comment system for quick suggestions and communication between users, and we also have a Forum.

The main purpose of the forum is for general, user-directed questions about the training. For instance, say you were try-ing to find which episode of Aviator90 featured a landing at your favorite airport. This is something you can’t really post in the comments, because you don’t know which video to com-ment on. The best way to communicate this would be through the forum- where staff and users alike can see your request and help you find the right episode. The forum is also great for sharing resources that may help other users with their training.

Quick Points:

The Forums are for longer, user directed comments

The Forums can be accessed through the Dashboard

To get to the forum, head to the member Dashboard. From there, click the fo-rum button next to the training product you have a question about. You should be redirected to that product’s sub-forum, but if not, just click on it from the list that appears. You’ll be presented with a list of topics that looks like this:

Viewing a specific topic is as simple as clicking its name. If you’d like to start a new topic, click the “Add a new topic” button shown in the top right of the shot above. If you’d like to make a comment on a topic you are viewing, click the “Re-ply to Topic” button at the bot-tom of the most recent post.
