If you are a first-time borrower and will be accepting any Federal Direct Stafford Loan(s), you will need to complete the following documents at www.studentloans.gov as soon as possible. You will need your Federal PIN (same as you used to complete the FAFSA).

∙ Master Promissory Note (MPN) for Federal Stafford Loans

∙ Stafford loan ENTRANCE COUNSELING

∙ If a parent is interested in applying for the Parent PLUS Loan, they may go to www.studentloans.gov to complete the process. The parent will use

their Federal PIN to complete the process.

FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTSWe work hard to keep the overall cost of attending MidAmerica Nazarene University less than most other private colleges and universities. Our team will collaborate with students and parents in working out the necessary financial arrangements to help keep your student account current.

While many traditional students pay their amount due in full at the beginning of each semester, we also have three payment plans available if that is more convenient.

PAYMENT PLANSYou may choose to spread payments over three, four or five months. The due date for the first payment is dependent upon the payment plan selected.

The amount due for each payment may vary if a student adds charges to the account. Payments can be made by bank draft or debit/credit card (MasterCard, Visa, American Express or Discover).

An email reminder will be sent five days before the due date of your next installment payment and then also as an acknowledgement each time a payment is made.

OTHER CURRENT POLICIES→ Students owing the University at the end of a semester will not be permitted to enroll for

another semester without making satisfactory financial arrangements with the Bursar.

→ All financial aid must be applied to the account balance before the student receives credit balances.

→ Institutional scholarships must be applied to tuition, fees and residential charges. After these charges are paid, any excess amount will be returned to the scholarship fund. Cash refunds can only be created by outside funded scholarships or loans.

→ Books and supplies cannot be charged on the student account unless using a voucher approved by Student Financial Aid Services. See the Office of Student Financial Aid Services for more information.

→ Payments not received by midnight on the due date will be assessed a $30 late fee. If payments are not made for the month they are due, an interest charge will be assessed to the student account at the end of the month.

ACCEPTING FEDERAL LOANS?*

Page 5: Getting Started: A Step-by-Step Guide to Financial Aid

→ Financial Aid will not be applied to your account until all outstanding documents are complete and your file is complete. All Financial Aid is considered estimated until all required documents have been received.

→ If you were awarded a Federal Perkins Loan you will be receiving an email from www.signmyloan.com to complete your entrance counseling and promissory note.

→ Alternative or Private Loans are available to students to help cover all educational expenses. Alternative Loans are unlike Stafford or PLUS loans, they require a separate application, a credit check, and may require a co-signer. Apply online to find out instantly whether you are eligible or if you need a co-signer at: http://tinyurl.com/fastchoice-mnu

→ Those awarded either Federal Work-Study or MNU Work-Study will receive information on how to apply for positions and the interview process over the next couple of months. Remember, work-study is not deducted from your student account.

PAYMENT PLAN DATESYou must re-enroll in the payment plan online each semester ($40 per semester). Interest will be charged on missed/late payments. Important dates for Fall and Spring semester are listed below.
