Get to Know the Performance Improvement Team (PIT) Performance Improvement Team- Brief Bio The Department’s Performance Improvement Team (PIT) is within Monitoring and Quality and includes: Data, Medical Eligibility Quality Improvement Plan (MEQIP), and Business Process Reengineering (BPR). The team framework aims to monitor performance data, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop improvement plans for accurate and timely eligibility determinations. The PIT mission is to provide support for eligibility sites by identifying efficient ways to determine Medical Assistance eligibility through continuous improvement methods. Nicole began her career in Human Services in 2011 with Larimer County, starting as an Eligibility Worker and later becoming a Quality Assurance Senior Technician. In April 2017, Nicole joined Health Care Policy and Financing as a Performance Improvement Specialist working on the Statement of Work and Request for Proposal for the BPR Project. Today, Nicole is the supervisor of the Performance Improvement Team (PIT).

Performance Improvement Specialist Vanessa Garcia - Brief Bio

Vanessa began her career at Health Care Policy and Financing over 5 years ago. She has worked on many Medicaid Eligibility teams such as Systems, Project Management and Operations. From 2014-2015 she was a part of the HCPF Back Office team that was created to process over 20,000 MA applications after the Affordable Care Act implementation.

Performance Improvement Specialist Arturo Serrano - Brief Bio

Arturo began his career in Human Services over 12 years ago with El Paso County. His first position was a Colorado Works Case Manager, were he worked with the Spanish Speaking population of El Paso. He later

supervised two units in El Paso before he became the Economic Assistance Manager in El Paso. During his time as Economic Assistance Manager he led multiple Business Process Initiatives in El Paso and was part of the initial CEPIC group focusing on Business Process Reengineering (BPR).

After working with El Paso County, Arturo spent time on the road working as a “Change Agent’ for Change and Innovation Agency (C!A). While at C!A, he visited 8 States where he assessed local and regional offices and completed implementation initiatives “Roll-outs’ for those States. He looks forward to meeting you and collaborating with Counties and MA Sites throughout the entire state of Colorado.

Performance Improvement Data Assistant: Leo Krivenkov – Brief Bio

Leo’s career started as a data analyst in nonprofit healthcare services. He quickly advanced in his role, developing numerous reports for the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing, and has been involved in many projects. He looks forward to collaborating with Counties and MA Sites throughout the state of Colorado developing reports to support sites in their continuous improvement efforts.

Quality and Monitoring Eligibility Specialist: Sharon Mascarenas – Brief Bio

Sharon joins our team with over 15 years in the Client Service Industry holding various positions in Quality Assurance, Training, Process Improvement, and Data Analysis- in both the public and private sectors. Most recently, Sharon comes with her Long Term Care knowledge and experience as an Eligibility Specialist from Jefferson County and her experience in Medicaid and Waiver Specific Provider Billing. By accepting a position in the Heath Information office, she looks forward to collaborating amongst internal and external key players and most of all making a difference in the quality of service delivery.
