Postpartum Recovery How often do you see a soon-to-be mom place products she personally needs for postpartum recovery on the baby registry list? 

Not often.  That’s because us Moms tend to always put our needs on the backend...or we’re too embarrassed to admit we need something.  I felt exactly the same way with my first and second births.   I felt like I didn’t want people “all in my business...”  It was extremely embarrassing to admit that I needed the super-sized pads, or that I’d prefer dark-colored nursing bras because I leaked milk post-birth.  Totally natural issues but not enough to make me feel good about admitting publicly to it.  Therefore those Mommy items tend to be left off the list; and we take the responsibility of purchasing those items.  However, everyone knows that there is a period of time that Mommy needs to heal from pushing this human out of her body.  So put those items on your list Mama!  Are ya stuck on what should be on the list or too embarrassed to put it there? 

No worries. Do yourself a favor and include these following items on your list.  

If including these postpartum recovery items really bothers you (you don’t want coworkers all up in your 

business), make a second baby registry for only family members (or ladies only). The list for family members will

Dermoplast Spray I am so thankful for this can of spray. When I like things, like my favorite pair of jeans, I buy multiples of it.  I loved Dermosplast. I had one in every room of my home and extras.  Why is it so awesome?   Well that’s due to the benzocaine and menthol that’s among its ingredients.  It’s a numbing medication that is great for not only your postpartum care, but your family’s care overall.  Because Dermoplast is also used to reduce pain caused by minor skin irritations, insect bites, minor burns, minor cuts, it’s great to keep in your home. 

 

Disposable Underwear If this isn’t your first child and you delivered in a hospital, I know you’re familiar with the white mesh underwear.  Well, the idea is practical but maybe you don’t want to wear white mesh undies post-hospital.  While you recover, you’ll want disposable underwear on hand to quickly toss due to accidents. This is way better than ruining your favorite panties.  Plus, it’s practical and comfortable. These dark colored disposable underwear will definitely do the trick. 

 

Tucks Another definite postpartum must-have. Ya know how you use makeup pads to clean your face and become makeup free?  Well, I sort of think of Tucks as vaginal cooling pads.  I also used to line them up on my pads for additional vaginal relief post-cleanup. One of the best relief methods...EVER! 

 

Maternity Maxi Pads After a vaginal birth, it’s normal to bleed for up to 6-weeks.  

The first two weeks your bleeding will be at its heaviest. You will be so happy to have pads that act as vaginal catchalls. 

 

Peri Bottle This is a squirt bottle that helps with keeping your personal areas clean. The hospital usually provides one of these for you to take home.  But it doesn’t hurt to have an extra one or two bottles for on-the-go purposes. 

 

Sitz Bath This is another product the hospital most likely will provide you with. However, you may or may not prefer what they issue.  It is easy to find a sitz bath kit which allows you to add healing products. As long as the additions you are using are doctor approved, you’ll be fine. 

 

Nursing Pads Your nipples will leak (breastfeeding or not). These pads will come in handy. 

 

 

Lanolin Nipple Cream This cream is a lifesaver for dry, cracked nipples. Lanolin can also be used generally on areas like your lips, elbows, hands, etc... 

 

Donut Pillow On my way home from the hospital seemed to be the bumpiest ride ever. I was extremely happy that a friend gifted this donut pillow to me.
