There are several ways to enlarge one’s breast size.

Surgical augmentation using implants, with saline or

silicone, is one of them. However, this requires surgery

and therefore carries risks associated with anaesthesia

and complications of implants such as ruptures and

infection. There is also longer downtime involved.

The other option involves the use of fillers, like

Macrolane and Aqualift, which shape and enhance the

breast without surgery. Fillers are not contained in a bag

like an implant, but are injected into the area. As it is an

injectable, it is a minimally-invasive procedure and the

whole procedure takes about 45 minutes. The patient

goes home with mild discomfort, and can return to work

the next day.

For most patients, the procedure requires one

injection below each breast, and 100 to 200 ml of gel

can be injected into each breast to give an increase of

one to one-and-a-half cup sizes. Fillers are also an option

if you don’t want something permanent. Macrolane lasts

for about a year, while Aqualift lasts up to three years. As

the gel gets re-absorbed by the body, a repeat top-up

procedure can easily be done.

What people like about fillers are that they give a

fuller, shapelier yet very natural result. Fillers are best for

women with small breasts and for those who have lost

breast volume post-pregnancy.
