Get ready to Sharegate!

Before you do anything else...

Installing Sharegate only takes a few minutes. If you haven’t already, download it here.

Please make sure that you have sufficient rights on all the sites you work with. We recommend at least having site collection admin rights, you can find out more about required rights here.

4. Migrate

Reorganize your site hierarchy, edit metadata with excel or a property template, or replicate your list and libraries in a new environment.

A special thought for your SharePoint users

Some of your users might appear in your sites even if they are no longer active users. Consider mapping them to a valid account before starting the migration.

Now that you know what might go wrong, you can fix it in SharePoint. You could also use the management options in Sharegate.

Get a good understanding of your sites and content. The inventory gives a great overview, the pre-check goes more in depth.

Run reports to find out what is going on in your environment. Even better: schedule them.

Advanced operations

Keep in mind that you can mass-edit the results of any report. For example, you could list all the libraries with versioning disabled and enable it on all of them in just a few clicks.
