Urban Forestry and Mountain Forestry
Our Mission
Trees need people, and people need trees – especially in urban areas. TreePeople plants trees on streets throughout the city, at schools and in parks in order toprovide shade and to combat rising heat temperatures.
And the mountains are the lungs of our city! They are vital for our air and water quality, biodiversity and recreation. But fires, drought and pests have left our wildlands needing TreePeople’s help to restore our forests and fragile ecosystems.
Visit our online events page to learn more about upcoming volunteer opportunities and how to become a Citizen Forester or as an Urban Planting or WIldlands Restoration Supervisor.

Tree DedicationsGive the gift that goes straight to the heart. Give trees.
Celebrate and honor loved ones during meaningful life events, including weddings, births, anniversaries, graduations and memorials with a dedication that will plant and care for trees.
Thousands of trees thrive throughout LA’s city parks, neighborhoods, schools and our mountain forests because of donations to our Tree Dedication Program.
Plant the seeds of change. Dedicate a tree today! TreePeople.org/givetrees or call (818) 753-TREE.
TreePeople is an environmental nonprofit organization whose mission is to inspire, engage and support people to take personal responsibility for the urban environment, making it safe, healthy, fun and sustainable and to share our process as a model for the world.

YOU can make a difference today – join our team ofvolunteers!
We have a vision of a climate-ready LA. To get there, we rely on volunteers to help transform our region into a healthy urban ecosystem – one community at a time.
Volunteering with TreePeople is fun and rewarding. Unlike volunteer typical experiences, we empower YOU with the support, training and tools you need to be an engine of change. Volunteers help to plant and care for native plants and trees while restoring our urban and mountain forests. Events typically take place on Saturdays and Sundays throughout LA and surrounding communities.
No previous training needed and all ages are welcome. Go to TreePeople’s online events calendar to learn more about upcoming volunteer opportunities:

When schools involve young students in a qualityeco-friendly education, everyone wins.
TreePeople’s Environmental Education programs, which introduce young people to the natural world that’s right outside their doorsteps, span grades K-12Using the environment as a lens, students learn about science, conservation and how they can play a major role in improving the urban forest. In addition to offering fun field trips at Coldwater Canyon Park, the programs support service learning for teachers and provide helpful project toolkits for Eco Clubs throughout the LA region.
