Expert Module 1: Introduction to the German medical system and quality assurance
The course is designed to provide an overall insight into concepts of Quality
Management (QM) and how issues of quality are related to health and social care
services. The course participants will be provided with basic understanding of QM
principles and methods and the way how to apply them to health and social care
services. Business process mapping and standardization is an important step in the
preparation for data and analysis.
In this course, different methods of data collection and some basic statistical tools
applicable for data analysis during the process of quality assessment will be
discussed. Participants will be introduced with decision making and problem solving
tools, evaluation of processes and services, business excellence and sustainable
growth.
Expert Module 2: Mental Health - Wellbeing Nursing
Students are introduced to the fields of study of the science of
gerontology, the concepts of gerontology and geriatrics, the theories
of the aging process, and the socio-economic problems of the old
people‘s population. During the studies, the biological and
physiological changes in different systems of the human body taking
place in the aging process are analyzed. pecific geriatric states and
syndromes are discussed. The issue of elderly people‘s mental
disorders and their nursing is emphasized. The principles of palliative
care that integrate psychological and spiritual aspects of the dying
individual‘s care and are used in practice are analyzed.
Expert Module 3: Microbiology Students are introduced to the world of
micro-organisms, the laws of its existence, the
objectives set to microbiology, the taxonomy,
the structure of a bacterial cell, the morphology
of micro-organisms, the life of true bacteria, nutritional characteristics, aerobes,
anaerobes, infections caused by them and their symptoms, fungi protozoa, viruses,
their breeding patterns and the diseases caused by them, micro-organism cultivation
and growth, disinfection, sterilization, hospital-acquired infection, its monitoring
and management, and the role of nurse.
Expert Module 4: Geriatric – Palliative Nursing Issues and Decision Making
The course is intended to introduce students to the system of psychiatric
assistance and supervision in Lithuania and abroad, the causes of mental
illnesses, and the main symptoms and syndromes. Educational and practical
conditions are created to master the knowledge, to extend the understanding
and to train the skills when planning and nursing mental patients; to apply the
acquired knowledge to the research in nursing.

General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with a
duration of not less than 3 years are eligible
