Page 2: Geothermal

Geothermal energy is heat derived from the earth. It’s the thermal energy contained in rock and fluid in the earths crust. It is believed that the ultimate source of geothermal energy is radioactive decay occurring deep within the earth. Ground source heat pumps use the earth or groundwater as a heat source in winter and a heat sink in summer. The current production of geothermal energy from all uses places third among renewables , following hydroelectricity and biomass, and ahead of solar and wind. Using resource temperatures of 4 degrees Celsius to 38 degrees Celsius the heat pump, a device which moves heat from one place to another, transfers heat from the soil to the house in winter and from the house to the soil in the summer.

Geo thermal is heat derived from the Earth’s crust. It is thermal energy contained in the rock and fluid in the Earth’s crust. These resources can be classified as low temperatures , moderate temperatures , and high temperatures.

Page 5: Geothermal

In most areas this heat reaches the surface in a very diffuse state. However due to a variety of geological processes some areas including substanial portions of many western states are underlain by relatively shallow geothermal resources. The uses to these resources are applied by influenced by temperature. Uses for low and moderate temperatures can be divided into two categories : direct or ground source heat pumps.

Geothermal energy can be used for electricity, for commercials, industrial, and house heating purposes. Also, for house heating and cooling through special geothermal heat pumps. It can also be used for preparing food, warm bathing, greenhouses, and industrial processes. Geothermal energy can probably heat around 40,000 average sized houses. Geothermal power plants are made to run all day, all year. Money does not have to be sent to install fuel for geothermal power plants. Geothermal power plants grow without pollution. Geothermal power plants, don’t have to burn fuels to make steam to turn the turbines.

Earths crust!

The world needs geothermal energy. Don’t waste it. Even if its renewable!

One of the disadvantages is that it drops 2.4 billion KWH.Also were running out of nonrenewable items like coal or petroleum

and we need this power our houses, and cars. All though it is good it is a major safety Percaution Last year it killed

3,000,000 animals this is terrible for the environment . One Simple energy post can reach up to 300 degrees -700 this can start a major fire.

This are Huge disadvantages
